i'm still new to mayo lore but does this guy thinks he's like mr game designer?? i was so shocked that he didn't ask to make sifu a resource manager like doom eternal
You may not know this, but Mayo was given a significant amount of attention by Hugo Martin (the director of Doom Eternal) and they ended up patching the Full Auto Shotgun mod literally because of Mayo campaigning for it to be improved for over a year. Because of his terrible temperament, this has apparently given him a bizarre sense that game devs pay attention to him or that they should. Like, bruh. Grow tf up.
@@kaden-sd6vb Yes. He has a massively inflated ego. Back when the TAG2 DLC came out for DOOM Eternal, he made an impassioned negative review filled with valid, good criticisms. Because the DLC is very bad. However, in response to literally no one, he took the video down and cowardly posted a different review a few days later, being a lot more positive about the DLC because, as he put it, he was a "leader in the community" and needed to be "more responsible" and heavily implied he was partially responsible for all the negative reviews the DLC was getting. Even though the game had already been showered with them before his video ever went up. Even back then, he had such an inflated sense of self-importance that he thought he legitimately changed people's minds about whether the DLC was good or not and motivated a large number of people to leave negative reviews. One way is to add an 'Easy Mode,' but I think the best method is when the player can adjust the difficulty himself while playing." -Shigeru Miyamoto Miyamoto would hate to see Mayo’s video on sifu lmfao
Easier difficulties can achieve this when implemented & executed correctly. They aren't a bad approach just usually the most obvious. Doing things the way Miyamoto describes would probably be just as difficult (if not more so) to execute correctly. But I think if done well, is way more entertaining than just easier difficulty modes. I would hope he hates Mayo's videos.
@@mordecaiandthekobokerz I don't necessarily have one, and there's a vast amount of ways they can work. It really depends on the game, what type of game it is, and the developers vision etc. In some cases I may not even have an ideal easy mode (like fromsoft games). So what I'd consider as "ideal" is really on a case by case basis.
@@PsychonauticTherapy I think he just means having an easier but longer path with a great item as an alternative to a dangerous short path with no items. With the original Zelda, the outer world could be ran around to get different items and hearts to make the game easier than just doing dungeons but it was time consuming.
Oh, if I recall corectly he (Mayo) was one of the people who hated Doom Eternal's tutorial windows for spoonfeeding you info you could have learned from gameplay. And yet in all other games he wants the spoon
I think he had alot of these traits before Doom Eternal. But I feel like after being a big part of the Doom community and being acknowledged by Hugo Martin really inflated his ego. Shame cause I like his videos but he just gets so insufferable and is generally not very open minded.
Ego is always a RUclipsr killer not matter who they are, as soon as someone gets too big for their boots it's usually downhill from there. With Mayo he got to the top of his hill quite early on which meant his downfall was gonna happen sooner
I got into Mayo's channel from Doom Eternal. Basically the same video of him criticizing other channels for misunderstanding DE. But overtime, his content ended up sounding like a Karen complaining about anything that doesn't work for him. To the point that channels like yours are now doing the same type of response videos to him. How the tables have turned lol.
i followed the man for about 2 years since de came out , seeing him turn into a lulcow and a clown of his former self while thinking he is some kind of God of gaming design that sits above everyone else is really pathetic to witness , after the DISASTER STREAM on elden ring and seeing what level of hypocrisy he can reach i unsubbed from his channel , now i just watch people dunk on him for fun , what an end to reach my God
I hate, in so many ways, how mayo's logic works (or lack thereof). But my biggest gripe is with the logic behind why he wants an easy mode. He wanted it because he had people he wanted to recommend the game to, but didn't think could latch onto its mechanics. Y'know what that sounds like? A SUPERIORITY COMPLEX! Literally coming at it from the angle of "i don't think people are smart enough to understand the game"... God i hate this guy
Nah some people just play games less or are just worse, not in a rude way but it is just fact. Also yeah the game didn't explain a lot of things well until the latest update. I.e dodges were shown twice but people just forgot about it and had to search up how to beat sean to learn about the avoids.
@@Azzie-z3bI mean, can you blame the developers for people forgetting one mechanic? I’d say that’s probably why they designed Sean and the Club the way they did. You aren’t allowed to beat that level if you forgot how to avoid, unless you’re a parry god but no one is on their first run. I think it’s excusable because they really hammer that mechanic home in the club and it’s so early on in the game
i love how incompatible "games should force you into getting good" applied globally and "easy modes existing" is, because the thing is, neither is wrong per se, games should strive to present an engaging challenge to the player, but not all games need that and not in the same emounts, that's why his critique of ultrakill falls apart, ultrakill doesn't force you into getting good, you decide your pace with the difficulties and assists
Mayo struggles to understand games & their design philosophies being different from one another. Even if you can draw similarities between 2 games, they can still have different design philosophies & not be aiming to achieve the exact same things. Your example of UltraKill is perfect for this because while we can compare to doom eternal in many aspects, they still have very different ideas behind them. Ultra kill isn't trying to be doom eternal, plain and simple.
@@PsychonauticTherapy i've said many times that ultrakill and doom are as comparable and incomparable as mario and sonic or battlfield and cod, yeah, they all are in the same genre but what they try to make the person playing feel is so different that cannot be treated as they are one in the same
I think Mayo in his reviews makes the mistake of thinking that everyone playing games plays them the same way that he does. He sorta makes this mistake in his ultrakill review also, Ultrakill was literally my second FPS after I played brutal doom and his arguments to why ultrakill was poorly balanced just did not apply to me. I am still kinda shit at the game, but I think how ultrakill was made it allowed newbies to progress while encouraging them to play better with unlockable secret bosses, not to mention that for veterans there is still 2 more harder difficulty yet to master.
Yeah. Honestly, if you want things to be easy, that's fine. Just don't complain that the game is easy afterwards. (Personally, I suck at games in general and wouldn't be playing mostly any games, so I'll gladly take easy mode, but I'm not gonna complain that it's easy.)
I don't personally care how hard or easy a game is if I'm using 90-100% of it's mechanics, if it does this then I would say that it's a Successful Game on what it's trying to Achieve, but then it also comes down to how good the game feels to play, but that's very dependent on what the game is and what the context is of said game. Like the Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Sonic Mania Plus are pretty easy IMO however I'm using every Mechanic in those Games but games like Sifu and Elden Ring are More Difficult but I'm using Every Mechanic those Games Present Me. So I would say those are all Successful IMO.
Also- if it comes to easy mode in hard games, I like how Pathologic approached this issue. They inclued the dificulity slider, quite in depth one, but they also pointed out the difficulity they designed the game to be played on. There's also Celeste, but I have more expiriance with the former
The main thing I wanted to highlight really is that making easier difficulties is usually just the most obvious approach but not necessarily the best option. Some games just don't need it or were designed for it (souls games for instance) & I fully believe Sifu is another example which didn't need easy mode.
I swear Mayo plays games like he's on coke. He has no patience, everything has to be going 3000000 mph or it's boring; if a game has any kind of down time or walking section.
I found mayo’s channel recently and I’ll say that I agree with most of what he says about the god of war, doom and resident evil series. but with this in combination with his elden ring stream, I just don’t know how he still has any credibility
@@agdala1591 Everyone literally loves the new kratos and the new combat. It won game of the year over Red dead 2 and now will probably win again against Elden Ring. Unless some crazy dlc drops for Elden ring before the end of the year and it makes the whole experience way better. (Like the DS3 DLCS)
If you can spawn bosses and learn all the patterns in a safe environment before facing them for real, what's even the point of having bosses in the first place?
To be fair I think he means the ability to spawn and practice against them after beating them for the first time in the story. In fact another game that does this very mechanic to great success is Ultra kill (a game mayo hates) where you can spawn in any enemy that you've faced before, and any amount or combinations of enemies, even boss fights, all within the sandbox mode. I think it's perfectly acceptable to want that, and to earn the ability to practice on them after beating them initially.
@@PsychonauticTherapy It's strange that he doesn't like to experiment with different strategies in Ultrakill and now there he is, wanting a training mode so he can style on bosses that, to be honest, are pretty straightforward after you learn their patterns.
There is some difference between Training and Practice. Training implies assistance. Someone telling you how the things work, while practice is just doing it over and over again until you understand it.
Mayo would cry wolf, and be a strawman if his idiotic fanbase recommends him to play Godhand, Metal Gear Revengeance, Nioh, heck even any of the Borderlands games not counting Tales from Borderlands. Complain about lack of challenge, why is it hard, and stat changes for weapons he uses.
What I find hilarious about this guy is that if the developers implemented every single one of Mayo's suggestions, he would still bitch and come up w a new list of probs. He's an SJW Gamer, if his experience is bad, the whole game has to change. He's lazy and ignorant. Thanks for the great vid bro.
I find is so funny that Mayo skips tutorials and then complains that the game doesn’t teach him anything yet when they do something to help him he complains about hand holding.
Under The Mayo SINS: -Criticized Style Meters for being arbitrary when they apply to gameplay and praised actually arbitrarily implemented style meters -Asks for an easy mode, doesn't want an easy mode, it's too easy for him -Rags on a game for not being Doom because it's not Doom, and it has a different design philosophy from Doom. Also rags on its fans as psychopaths who will kill your family because they can't handle criticism... having multiple arguements/videos shifting the goal post because he can't handle people criticizing him. -Refuses to learn game mechanics because he predetermined that he doesn't like the game... to a game he also decided to play for charity and to get himself a PS5 (it's ok to predetermine to not like something, but you don't do it and immediately shit on the game using videos and community posts to shit on it, and complain and whine about people trying to help you play it)
His reviews are so bad most of the time, I liked his doom and god of war stuff, but as soon as he started branching out when they weren’t exactly the same as those two games he ripped into them for some reason and refused to learn mechanics. His armored core 6 review was particularly painful for me because I WAS ALSO A NEW PLAYER just like him and nearly every problem he listed was him just refusing to engage with the game systems
I used to like Mayo after the Elden Ring stream I just stopped. He reminds me of another RUclips channel called The Bit Block. The dude did what Mayo is doing now. Switching goals and being so damn picky about every. The Bit Block eventually just killed his channel. It's the same path here.
@@PsychonauticTherapy He had his moment of fame with Doom Eternal. But it's clear he doesn't have opinions or insight worth sharing on pretty much anything else.
If Mayo thinks that Sifu explains it's mechanics poorly then he will have a bad time with Mega Man Zero games since those games never gave a shit about explaining mechanics like the combo system, the leveling up system from Zero 1 and 2, part system in Zero 4 and the part combinations in Zero 3.
Talk about poorly explained game mechanic, I got an idea. give him Lobotomy Corporation, the game barely explain you any shit and make your suffering from lack of information being main point about it.
@@majorblitz3846 His experience with Elden Ring is funny. DS1 would be make him infuriated within an hour with the stray demon and traps. ER is actually relatively forgiving with save points just outside of boss arena and a better tutorial area in the beginning.
Sucks thinking how after easy mode was introduced, Yahtzee covered the game and judged the game wholly with his experience with the easy system making the aging mechanic pointless.
He wants an easy mode, but hates easy modes. He wants the camera to not zoom in any more, but hates when it zooms in. I'm genuinely curious what goes on inside his head.
what he wanted was a mode that was the same game but easier (ai the exact same game but lower damage), still encouraging player mastery and slowly increase the difficulty rather than throwing players into the fire and the game not doing that was what he found upsetting. and yes he doesent like the camera zooming in to the single pixels rather than showing the full screen full of enemies
He’s bad so he gets mad. Mad cuz bad. Git gud has never applied harder, don’t like when the camera gets stuck on a wall? Use your brain and don’t put your back against a wall, it’ll also save you from being slammed against the wall. Majority of his complaints are either him not being super perceptive (happens to the best of us he just blames the game) or him not being very good, while refusing to accept that he’s not very good so he blames the game
I have an idea for Future Games. Mayo Difficulty. Upon using it, everything is instantly 10x Harder, and when you use the same move in a series of Moves, you're struck down by GOD with the Caption "BRO YOU'RE SPAMMING EASY MOVES!!!1!!1!!!!1!111!11!One!!!1!" and, to prevent spamming weapons, if they exist, they'll break/run out of ammo after 3 uses. To add a sense of Resource Management, your attacks must be recharged through ammo packs around the map. Also, a new "Style" Meter is added, and upon filling the Meter, you become Immortal, and deal 20x Damage, as well as getting twice as much XP. Make your own Suggestion for Mayo Difficulty, and Discuss how this would Work in the replies of this.
Mayo the type of guy who will order fried chicken with greek salad from hellofresh, eat the raw chicken and complain he got salmonella since they didn't "force" him to cook it
Being mayo's friend must be torture, having him trying desperately to get you into some random game he's obsessed with despite it not being your thing and swearing up and down that it just needs an "easy" mode, when in reality if a game like sifu is too hard on normal, then rogue likes probably just aren't your thing, cuz thats EVERY rogue like, playing it over and over getting your shit kicked in and just trying to learn a LITTLE bit more one playthrough at a time Its the classic old school style of game design where they make it extremely hard to stretch out run time, think Contra, its not a very long game start to finish but you'll spend days trying to get through the whole thing, and thats the whole point of the rogue like genre, sifu 5 levels, hades 4 areas, deadcells like 30-40 minutes per run, all hard as nails and is going to take starting over again and again, if you dont like that (as mayo knows his friends wont) then this genre isn't for you, but then you got this fuckin guy constantly pestering you about how good it is and saying he'll teach you, RIP to whoever knows mayo irl 🤣
Mayo's video of this update is an embodiment of that SpongeBob "I don't like pistachio" scene. He gets some changes that he asked for and complains about them.
I'm really late to this video but i gotta comment on this, he really just said 26:51 "I've been waiting till this update came out to recommend the game to some of my friends because i "know" they're really gonna struggle with the normal difficulty and they're gonna give up." He really just called his friends retarded in a subtle way.
Taking aside mayo's self contradictions; its a valid complaint if an easy mode is too easy and shouldve been implemented better. "Its a hastily implemented mode post-launch, of course it sucks" is. Kind of the issue. Like how Yhatzee from ZP put it about Horizon zero dawn, "I dont care if the fact that the protagonist is unlikable and boring makes sense in world. My issue is that the protagonist is unlikable and boring." The easy mode could have been well implemented if they took their time. Like, Im pretty good at Hollowknight, not to brag, but if the game had a hard mode which was "every boss has 10× the hp and you die in one hit", that would be a badly designed hard mode. It is hard, but just being hard doesnt mean it is adequate. If a friend of mine is struggling in ultrakill and wants an easy mode, but the easy mode just gave you the star power from super mario permenantly, it would also be very inadequate. Similarly while I havent played sifu, I believe "easy mode is too easy to be engaging" is an adequate complaint. Thats just my 2 cents on the matter.
I won't lie, never played Doom Eternal. I know people say Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal are different, but every time I've attempted to finish Doom 2016 I always end up moving on before completing it. Maybe that is on me, but definitely haven't cared for it. Its sort of almost been like Minecraft for me, which I know these are nothing alike, but they haven't drawn me in like other games have. Sidenote, to be honest, I don't think I have tried a Roguelike game(I mean I didn't play a Dark Souls game until this year, played Dark Souls 3 before Elden Ring, saying I haven't tried a lot of different games), but maybe I'll give Sifu a try if its considered decent.
I get it that this video is old by now, but it explains Mayo's review of Batman Arkham Asylum and City in recent video. But what it doesn't explains is his defenders who are trying to defend him from incoming fair criticism.
Overall you did a good job disproving his points. Although the personal attacks on mayo were getting extreme, remember he is still human (a really dumb one).
I mentioned this in another video about the dude, but the way he acts is like if all of Reddit / Twitter suggestions/takes became a person. It’s appalling to me.
Mayo: Sifu hides things in the "lore" that I would actually have to READ! Sifu also literally explains a mechanic in the tutorials that you still have yet to recognize you overlooked. I wonder what his take is on the "info blocks" in Mario games. "I had to press the jump button to hit this block so I could learn about the game and it's mechanics ... That's just TOO MUCH Nintendo!!!"
thing is some games have difficulty setting if people just want to blow of steam or have a challenge, some dont because they are designed to be a challenge if people want it, just like some games are just designed to be the more relaxed stress relief sort, raging for a game specifically meant to be a challenge to be easier is literally defeating the purpose
Camera criticism from you was pretty unfair. He seemed to be mainly talking about (with shown examples) the camera getting stuck on walls, corners etc and being too close up to be useful, not cinematic close ups. he even goes on to wish it had something like For Honor's excellent camera. I know he says "ever" but that's hyberbole, surely and if it isn't then yeah, i disagree. Sometimes camera zooms to show off a sweet takedown anim or something can be cool.
I somewhat have to disagree. First of all, I acknowledged in my video that the camera obviously still isn't perfect & needs work (which was me agreeing with his criticisms of it). But I still find it entitled to complain about wanting the camera to zoom in during the take-downs after literally saying there is no reason to EVER zoom it in. I also have to admit that personally I think the camera zooming in for those takedowns is pointless, & only adds to the already existing issues with the camera. I'm not saying he's wrong for wanting that, I'm saying he contradicted himself about it. & Overall yeah, the camera is still shitty otherwise lol
Honestly I don’t mind the camera, mind I am a bit of a sucker for punishment as long as I know that it’s due to my own error. I think if I let myself get bullied into a corner I should really feel panicked and like I need to get out immediately because in a real fight I’m sure getting beat in a corner by multiple opponents feels pretty similar, might also be hard to see what’s coming. I like it for the immersion however I completely understand and can’t even disagree with the criticism
16:50 mayo doesn't respect anything at all like fromsoft's games i also feel sorry for his girlfriend she needs a new boyfriend cause mayo's ego is gonna bite him in the face
wait i know this was 5 months ago but whats wrong with midnight? aside from his clickbait i don't really see what harm he does. i guess it's pretty annoying that he gets my hopes up but personally some news about doom and such is better than none.
To fully sink in how bad under the mayo is as a game reviewer, I spent 1 day watching video on how he’s a bad reviewer and over all of this one day journey, I had more fun breaking his downright narrarsacistic character down than watching any of his game reviews.
I like that there is a community of people tearing this guy down. I found him after the disappointment of doom eternal turning into a red light green light platformer and found his stalwart defense of that game to be so contradictive. Dude is definitely someone that will actively harpoon their own logic to try and win an argument.
huh, i remember seeing his gow reviews surprised to see him fell off. from what i've seen, he seems to overlook into these games too much which in the end, he just contradict himself. he really needs to chill out.
This is so cathartic to see people finally realizing how bad this guy really is. I'm over it now and definitely don't waste your time doing this but if you go onto any of his awful DMC takes you can find some full on essays from me I wrote while high on painkillers & I still completely wrecked him 🤣 he didn't respond to me at all at least as far as i saw in my notifications typical of Mayo hearing any slightly thoughtful counter points
PLEASE DO NOT SHOUT "STRAWMANNING" INTO MY EARS, AGH, THAT SCARED ME ENOUGH TO HURT- but yeah, god, he's just strawmanning and complaining to complain and contradict consistently.
Honestly the fact you covered his easy mode rant just shows how much mental capacity you have when criticizing him. When i saw his easy mode video on Sifu i knew for a fact that it was gonna be him being a hypocrite and him switching the goalpost. I've always said this about Mayo, outside of his Doom Eternal content he's insufferable to watch and the majority of the time he has laughable takes.
Hey, I’m new to this Mayo stuff. I started watching him with Eternal and I liked his stuff. Then recently a Mayo contradictions video showed up in my feed and I watched it and it was great. Then I watched your Part 1 last night and am watching Part 2 now. This is good shit. I don’t watch Mayo’s reviews so I had no idea he was so inconsistent. You guys are shredding Mayo. The comments on his Ultrakill (?) video are hilarious. His own audience is annihilating him. I had no idea he was so smug and full of shit lol. And this is a nitpick, but I don’t understand why Mayo is being attacked for having bias and being subjective. Critiques/reviews are inherently biased as they are the summation of one person’s experience with a game. Everyone’s experience is going to be different as we all like/dislike different things. Anyway, I’ve liked and subbed. I love these critique of a critique videos. Not only are they entertaining and funny, you’re essentially exposing Mayo for his fatal flaws as a reviewer. Much thanks man and Big Ups!
I agree that all reviews are bias on some level. I think where we should draw the line is when that bias takes precedence over reviewing a game for what it is already, rather than what you want it to be. Wanting good changes to a formula you love but isn't refined yet is fine, but I don't think mayo reviews things for what they are sometimes. Instead he reviews them as what he wants them to be.
Honestly I'm fine with easy modes, I used to play games on easy when I was a kid but now I'm playing them on higher difficulies. Also I'm actually a newcomer to Resident Evil games and after I watched Mayo's video on RE3 remake I tried to play the original RE3 and RE2 but I didn't enjoy them at all to the point I doubt myself to play the remakes.
I have no problems with easy modes in general, my issue is with him advocating for handholding & an easy mode in a game where it didn't really belong essentially, and how that directly contradicts many of his other statements about games & challenge, and wanting more games that encourage skill through challenge. I don't think easy modes are pointless I just think their implementation & execution heavily matters in these kinds of discussions.
Sifu looks more fun than Sekiro. I didn't have patience for the stealth in Sekiro and I sucked at the combat. But I recognized it was a well-made game.
his whole ideology he pushees and maruader videos his so proud of makes this so much more ironic. you pretty much need to jut play the game and explore it somemore and im sure you can find material for video like this for most of them Honestly his ideas wwouldnt really work cause his living proof that you can just pretty much pass everythgin though trail an error even if youre doing everything wrong
Contradiction is not the same as nuance, which is what intelligent people always have in their analysis and reflexions. Nuance is key to the truth. Nothing is black or white.
Coming into this from his “based” takes on ultrakill his problem is thag he thinks games that aren’t doom eternal need to be doom eternal with no regard for the fact that the game is intentionally not doom eternal? So fucking annoying. Also seeing you play ror2(as a fellow loader main thag makes me happy) I was remembering how I was against command until a modded character description described how playing without command is just getting cucked by the game.
I have watched under the Mayo a few times and while I don't really like how cynical he is on almost every game he reviews I don't think he's the worst video game reviewer out there. Cynical and not someone you want to base your entire opinion on if you want to get something or not but definitely not the worst. When I think of the worst RUclipsrs I often think of RUclipsrs that actively insult their community directly like DSP gaming does. The reason I don't trust his reviews all that much is because he's way too cynical and honestly I think he's harsh on the games that don't deserve it and not as harsh on the games that do does this mean that I hate him as a reviewer not really but he could be a little bit more open to different things. But he is definitely not the worst reviewer on RUclips not by a long shot.
I do think that it is rather bold and pretentious of Under The Mayo to simply assume that, without an easy mode, every new player is somehow going to be turned off from Sifu due to its difficulty. If the combat and gameplay are as fun and addictive as he claims, then what exactly is stopping someone from understanding the game's steep learning curve, loving the game for its challenge, and gradually adapting to its difficulty? Many people are going to want to keep returning to Sifu and master its gameplay loop, especially since dying repeatedly and learning from your mistakes is one of the most basic and fundamental cores of a rogue-lite. This is, more or less, the same reason as to why so many people are fans of From Software's titles, because the satisfaction of overcoming a difficult challenge by learning and adapting is a feeling that very few other games can replicate.
I mean I fundamentally agree that there are game titles that don't require an easy mode and the outright exploitation of people with disabilities that comes out of the whole journo accessibility argument was pretty gross. In saying that I find it hilarious how butt-hurt some people get when a game ends up having an easy mode added (Sifu was always fairly casual in it's difficulty). I personally take the approach of Paradox where I believe people who want to play for achievements should have to have an "Ironman" mode enabled that will essentially force them to play on normal or harder difficulty if they want to get any of the achievements (or lock out some of the harder achievements put there for the try hards so that people can't exploit the easy mode to get them). Again tho, don't be a journo who rages about how people are ablest because they won't cater specifically for you or because you're that bad at the game that you couldn't get past the demo and/or tutorial (a certain cuphead vid comes to mind).
I actually think easy mode did help me a lot, I was quite stuck at first, then the patch came. Played the hole game in easy, which helped me experience the entire game and the types of enemies, once I was done I went straight to normal and it went much, much better. Now I competed hard mode with the hat
Good job,I laughed when I heard Nier. I really don't know how mayo still have big following. Multiple of his reviews are really bizarre,I wouldn't be surprised if his pronounce is they/them how often contradicts himself like multiple people living there. And his attitude towards fans is awful they are probably just pay pigs for him.

@@PsychonauticTherapy What would be your ideal Easy mode?
An "Easy mode" is learning the cheese. Sadly that means learning the game so...
Oh, if I recall corectly he (Mayo) was one of the people who hated Doom Eternal's tutorial windows for spoonfeeding you info you could have learned from gameplay.
And yet in all other games he wants the spoon
He wanted more tutorials including a weapon switching tutorial! He is just idiot and always was.
Because in his eyes doom is perfect even though I think it’s got lots of issues

He gets bullied by both the Chad and virgin from the meme
I think he had alot of these traits before Doom Eternal. But I feel like after being a big part of the Doom community and being acknowledged by Hugo Martin really inflated his ego. Shame cause I like his videos but he just gets so insufferable and is generally not very open minded.
I agree it's sad to see. If only it didn't all go to his head.
Ego is always a RUclipsr killer not matter who they are, as soon as someone gets too big for their boots it's usually downhill from there. With Mayo he got to the top of his hill quite early on which meant his downfall was gonna happen sooner
Even worse when you consider that Hugo Martin is super chill and doesn’t endorse this behavior at all.
his ego got too big the moment hugo martin accepted giving the interview
God i hate this guy
he did the same with ultrakill, except worse
@@PsychonauticTherapy i've said many times that ultrakill and doom are as comparable and incomparable as mario and sonic or battlfield and cod, yeah, they all are in the same genre but what they try to make the person playing feel is so different that cannot be treated as they are one in the same
Mayo actually sounds like Quandale Dingle at 1.5x speed for some reason LOL
Under the mayo got a huge ego boost during doom eternals run
Honestly I think you should make a series dunking on mayo. Videos roasting him are hilarious
I might make more responses to him, I just don't want to focus on it too much
I think Mayo in his reviews makes the mistake of thinking that everyone playing games plays them the same way that he does.
Mayo just wants everything spoon fed to him. And complaining that easy mode is easy? Jesus Christ.
Yeah. Honestly, if you want things to be easy, that's fine. Just don't complain that the game is easy afterwards. (Personally, I suck at games in general and wouldn't be playing mostly any games, so I'll gladly take easy mode, but I'm not gonna complain that it's easy.)
Watching Mayo devolve into a full-on lulcow has honestly been one of the best highlights of 2022
I don't personally care how hard or easy a game is if I'm using 90-100% of it's mechanics, if it does this then I would say that it's a Successful Game on what it's trying to Achieve, but then it also comes down to how good the game feels to play, but that's very dependent on what the game is and what the context is of said game.
Those devs most likely don't even know some guy named Gayo exists
I swear Mayo plays games like he's on coke. He has no patience, everything has to be going 3000000 mph or it's boring; if a game has any kind of down time or walking section.
I found mayo’s channel recently and I’ll say that I agree with most of what he says about the god of war, doom and resident evil series. but with this in combination with his elden ring stream, I just don’t know how he still has any credibility

-Asks for an easy mode, doesn't want an easy mode, it's too easy for him
-Rags on a game for not being Doom because it's not Doom, and it has a different design philosophy from Doom.
It's the same path here.

guy when the easy mode is easy:

Being mayo's friend must be torture, having him trying desperately to get you into some random game he's obsessed with despite it not being your thing and swearing up and down that it just needs an "easy" mode, when in reality if a game like sifu is too hard on normal, then rogue likes probably just aren't your thing, cuz thats EVERY rogue like, playing it over and over getting your shit kicked in and just trying to learn a LITTLE bit more one playthrough at a time
Its the classic old school style of game design where they make it extremely hard to stretch out run time, think Contra, its not a very long game start to finish but you'll spend days trying to get through the whole thing, and thats the whole point of the rogue like genre, sifu 5 levels, hades 4 areas, deadcells like 30-40 minutes per run, all hard as nails and is going to take starting over again and again, if you dont like that (as mayo knows his friends wont) then this genre isn't for you, but then you got this fuckin guy constantly pestering you about how good it is and saying he'll teach you, RIP to whoever knows mayo irl 🤣

Taking aside mayo's self contradictions;
its a valid complaint if an easy mode is too easy and shouldve been implemented better.
Similarly while I havent played sifu, I believe "easy mode is too easy to be engaging" is an adequate complaint.

thing is some games have difficulty setting if people just want to blow of steam or have a challenge, some dont because they are designed to be a challenge if people want it, just like some games are just designed to be the more relaxed stress relief sort, raging for a game specifically meant to be a challenge to be easier is literally defeating the purpose

It's weird that you tie this to "woke culture" when I would rather say that he might be the biggest bogeyman for any wokist out there.
@@Ageleszly my intention wasn't to call him woke or say he is,since I don't know him. I was joking because he constantly contradicts himself, like his undeveloped twin brother still live inside him.
@@Bole_ZG ok just wondering because "they/them" refers not to "many" they are genderneutral pronouns.
@@Ageleszly Yeah I'm aware of them. When I was writing original comment it sound better in my head on my native language, lol
This is 2 years old so I am super late to this party. But as someone who got sifu and did play it on easy mode. You can’t just mindlessly play one handed or button mash or not block even on easy mode they do punish you. I died so many time between the club and the museum. Due to different enemy types and having to learn how to block and parry and when to take down certain enemies.
Ohohoho i cant wait to see if he has any "takes" on elden ring that must be the absolute funniest shit lmfaoooo. This guy (mayo) is out there trying to make every game a shiddy ripoff of doom eternal.
Why does there seem to be such a disconnect between the understanding that you can't have something be skilled based and be easy at the same time. It's contradictory in its very nature.
he asks for an easy mode and is angry that it was made what the heck
