You have the two BEST video tutorials for “Shoulder-in” on RUclips ♥️❤️♥️❤️. I can hear your voice saying “inside leg at the girth and outside leg behind the girth.”When you explain the purpose of the shoulder -in and what it accomplishes in our horses, it makes sense and I can recall it. Just really need to practice 😂 This one is great to listen to right before my ride !
Am finding your simple succinct no fuss videos really refreshingly easy to follow and clear for anyone to understand. great for all riders to remember.
Thank you Amelia for this useful video. I like it when you talk about 'inside' or 'outside' leg, seatbone, rein, etc., rather than left or right which I get confused (I have to try to figure out the direction and visualize the position), whether as when you say outside leg or inside leg for example, it does not matter which direction you are going in, it will be the 'inside' or 'outside' also. I don't know if that makes sense, but I find it less confusing (for me) that way. Again, thank you for all your wonderful and useful videos!
Fantastic! Loved the tip about being able to fit a person between your horses shoulder and the rail and a lightbulb moment for me that I’ve got my legs wrong! Look forward to trying it out next time we’re in a school :)
Hmmmm thank you. I do have problems with my shoulder in. And I too made the second mistake. Inside leg behind the girth, outside leg on the girth. Next lesson I'll try to switch. I hope it will go better.
Thank you once again for the video. I have trouble with the Shoulder-In and you explain things very well. You state at @01:52 that you have had windy weather in California. I am in the UK and the wind has been absolutely horrendous.
Thank you! Still practising leg yields and working on different gears in trot in sitting/working part. I feel like we're almost at the right point to introduce shoulder in usefully. This video really clarifies for me when to introduce and how :)
Hi Amelia I want to understand these movements from shoulder in to half pass so if I'm in shoulder in right then left inside leg at the girth right outside leg behind connect right seat bone -then want to transition to half pass what aids are you now requesting in more detail? ( more outside leg) ? Really enjoying your videos!! Love the details!! Alberta🙂
We have leg yield/shoulder in one direction, but the opposite direction is very difficult. Going to work on this today, I may be doing mistake #2 in that direction. Thank you!
Great video and explanation. Would you please clarify the three tracks you are looking for, going to the left, as in your example again. It was a little confusing as due to a second voice coming through on the video? Maybe I was hearing things!😂.

Thank you! I would like to see it on a horse who doesn't know how to do it and you are teaching him how.

Learned a lot from this video!!
The outside aids are often referred to as the Aikido aids.

Alberta🙂
Are the feet placed exactly as when starting in the canter? Don't I risk entering the canter?
Thank you! Definitely going to be checking my leg position today! 🙃🦄🦄

Great explanation. Thank you. For some that are new to this could you explain more as to what the outside rein does. 😊
What don you mean by more outside rein more contact or more opening
Basically that you want to make sure you have a steady rein and adjustability
Would t you correct the horse and get him off the forehand before doing any shoulder in..
When you say more outside rein what do you mean?
the rein on the outside of the horse's body bend (usually the one closest to the wall)
Great video and explanation. Would you please clarify the three tracks you are looking for, going to the left, as in your example again. It was a little confusing as due to a second voice coming through on the video? Maybe I was hearing things!😂.
To the left the 3 tracks are left front, left hind and right front, and right hind 👍😁
I like it
So thats backwards left leg back and right leg at the girth
Nose below his shoulder is not correct baring..
i can never understand which leg you mean when you say “left” or “right”
