I love your work. My horse is "left handed" ? This phrase has always confused me. She clearly is more confident to the left. She is longer on her right side, shorter on the left, collapses on the right shoulder, trots more easily to the left, but canters more easily to the right. I am not totally convinced that starting on her more difficult side is the way to go, because in Feldenkrais work, the more functional side informs the other side and the bodyworker starts on the functional side. Good balance, in a sense, can be "catching" if not only because the horse gets straighter momentarily but also in the experience of relaxation. Then I try to continue with that relaxation. I am careful not to overwork her more difficult side because she may just start developing the wrong muscles. But, I am not entirely sure and always open to new information. Then also I don't switch back and forth too much at first, as in figure 8s for instance, until the horse is more mature. Manolo Mendez suggests it can make the more more tense. Keeping my mare relaxed and confident is key for her personality. Thanks for being gentle and intelligent in your work. BTW, I have never seen a video where your horses are wired up like my hypersensitive very forward mare. Sometimes I wonder if we are alone!
