    Thank you so much for this! I spent a few days trying to setup the virtualization piece in Hyper-V and was having trouble with the ethernet adapter. I searched through a few RUclips videos and your explanation helped me out so much. It's finally working. I finally don't have an excuse to get started with my test lab. Thanks again!

    I'm a starter at IT. I do have a lot of basic knowledge but video's like this helps a lot.
    I tried setting up a DC for the first time a few days ago with the help of Hyper-V. Came across the exact same errors that are happening in this video. I was so happy everything I experiences also happened in this video and you could show me how to work around those errors.
    Thanks a lot!

    How were you able to get your windows server connected to the internet?
    Mine is having connectivity issues, even once given a static IP. On my ethernet, it says “unidentified network”. When I tried making an external vNIC, it keeps throwing errors.

    Can you add a pc to the domain using DHCP settings? or does it always have to be static.

    How would I get this set up within a physical network so I can join computers in the house to the DC on a hyper-v server box? when I want the home router to still asign DHCP and fit the DC before the dhcp scope on this router?

    • @jackedprogrammer
      @jackedprogrammer  2 года назад

      Hi Cameron, you would create an external switch on hyper v allowing your virtual machines to interact with the network card on the host machine I have a video series of how I set up mine and I connect to my vms all the time from my other laptop here is the link: Home Lab Setup

    Member of: Domain is actually blocked out for me, trying to add to a domain via Powershell but getting that the request is denied. Im not sure if its a permissions thing but I can't see where to allow it.
    I also pinged my test environment and got a response so Im not sure what to do

      When joining a domain via powershell you will have to pass in a credential object into the -credentials parameter Im not sure if you have that yet or not but that would be one reason it could get denied I hope that helps

    Hello, I'm actually working on a machine just meant for testing, this machine is not connected to any physical network. My question is that is it possible to setup a domain controller virtually without a physical network?

    • @jackedprogrammer

      Hi Emmanuel, you for sure can thats how I did mine the first time, I had computer with no network connection, I created a hyper V environnement still this way i could create a virtual network and join a client vm to the domain controller, I hope that helps :)

    Where do you get those IP numbers from? They don't match that ipconfig table. In your newer video you do this stuff out of screen.

    • @jackedprogrammer
      @jackedprogrammer  2 года назад +1

      Hi this is how I got those number so my ipconfig table reads out :
      My wifi IP: 172.30.121.11
      My HyperV Switch IP: 172.23.32.1 with subnet of 255.255.240.0
      The server is connected to my HyperV Switch when I assign my IP I give it 172.23.33.42 which is in the range of the HyperV IP address and the default gateway is the HyperV Switch.
      Hope this helps let me know if you have any other questions or issues
