Was in Disneyland in 1965 and this was a hot attraction at the park. Crowds gathered at the entrance all day. They even featured this on Disney’s “Wonderful World of Color”! What a great time to be a kid!
I loved the Under New Management version as a kid, but I think the current version is much better, especially given the attraction's connection to Walt. Like you said, it would've been great as a temporary offering, but it never deserved to be a permanent attraction. Personally, I hope that this version sticks around and that the Stitch version remains something unique and special for Tokyo.
They said that the show was just under new management, they didn't say that said new management was better.
Honestly I wish they kept the tiki God and mixed it into the old tiki room. She was amazing.
The Uh-Oa animatronic was a really great figure and it's a shame we had to lose her. Though it's cool that she now resides in Trader Sam's Grog Grotto! - Luke
@@ReviewTyme If ya mess with Polynesia, The tiki gods will squeeze ya!
I heard she was actually damaged from the water used to put out the fire and that's why she was removed from the ride
@@rattyeely show*
Not ride
Plus, I kinda wish They Rebranded her.
Kinda add her in After the Hawaiian war chant
Before her performance (Not the UNM, im talkin the Original)
The Totems and Drummers would have extra time to perform
And In her song, only the drummers perform alongside her.
You know I really don't mind Zazu. It's Iago that annoys me, and I like the character.
Tokyo's with Stitch is actually very wholesome
Adding Yago and Zazu was a genius concept that had so much potential. Unfortunately they squandered it with god awful songs and sub-par dialogue.
the stitch one is too cute hahah when all the woman birds come down from the ceiling with stitch ears XD
I actually miss this because of Zazu. “The voice of reason” is often abused by everyone in the Lion King. Here he finally gets focused without being abused
It's a shame that when Zazu finally got his chance to be focused on, it was no longer Rowan Atkinson as the voice actor for him. - Luke
ReviewTyme Could you do a video about Tokyo Disneyland’s Tiki Room: Get The Fever show? That’s my favourite version of the Tiki Room and worth checking out. Sad that it was replaced with Stitch Tiki Room in 2008
idiotlimrocks2 Maybe that show would return to its former glory much like the terrible Under New Management overlay of the Florida show! Maybe that old Tokyo Disneyland Tiki Room show would make its way to Hong Kong Disneyland!
@@carminecdinoproductions Perhaps. Because if you have seen the Tiki Room Get The Fever show, you would know what an excellent updated Tiki Room show is like

This is like if today they did a refurbishment on the Matterhorn to include Olaf telling painful jokes and dated humour
Kill me
Even though HOP is known as a nap attraction I can't believe Disney openly supported this mentality lol
Well, they did tell Iago not to mess with the tiki gods.
When I was younger, this was the only version of the show I ever knew. Maybe I’m biased, but I’m still nostalgic for it and I thought it wasn’t half bad.
I grew up with the "under new management" tiki room, so its all I ever really knew. And gosh now that the original version is back I can see why everyone hated this mess up version. I have to be completely honest I only went in the tiki room to see that amazing goddess come and scare my pants off. She was so gorgeously stunning to me as a kid, so I am pretty upset that she's gone. Other than that I'm glad the original tiki room is back and I can experience it.
She’s found a home in Trader Sam’s grotto!
Well I did go for original version I think I don’t know
Lago was so obnoxious and I was so glad it was redone to be the original Tiki Room! The Under New Management version was bad!! I’m glad I never experienced it!! Although that Tiki Goddess looked awesome
She’s still at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto!
I’m glad they put it back the way it was. I loved the original Tiki room. I remember as a kid watching all of the bird talk and loving it so much. The Tiki Room is a classic and you don’t mess with a classic. 😠
Awesome report. Thank you! I saw both show versions. Iago was a bit annoying, but the whole time I missed the original. Once it went back to that and was completely renovated (revitalizing the colors and overall look) I was excited to see it. It did not disappoint!
Stitch overlay, yes please! May not happen though with TomorrowLand still having a bad taste in the mouth with the Stitch attraction.
Fantastic news!!!!! I love this!!!!!
4:37 - Mr. Potato Head from the Toy Story films as one of the two toucans from a preshow of The Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management!
Don Rickles (1926-2017)
And Jiji from Kiki’s Delivery Service!
Cool. Can you make The History of ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter/Stitch's Great Escape?
Well there is a sorta fun ish but serious fact Iago was a victim of the fire incident because of the animatronics failures but this leads to questionable designs of Iago
We’re just like zazu, not wanting to disrespect the tiki room, but it was litreally ruined by lago
Aside from me loving the Enchanted Tiki Room and considering it one of the best Disney attractions ever, I’ve always wanted to experience this version. I actually think that this looks like kinda fun.
It was a lot of fun. I saw the old version and it was just... well...old. My kids and I did an annual WDW world week every spring break from 2001 - 2012. We all loved the New Management.
5:40-5:42 May he Rest In Peace.
I doubt this was a worse overlay the Journey into your imagination
While I know some really don't like the ETR:UNM I actually really like it.
I might wanna see a fun thrilling ride version of the show with spinning tikis and an on-ride show with the Tiki Room birds and tikis!
In my mind it would be a water ride.
correction: the enchanted tiki room in disneyland opened in 1963, not 1964
9:39-9:46 Oh, the irony!
Bring back Lago
I was a 90s kid and this was not my Tiki room
Aren't the show lengths different between coasts? DL has a longer version of Let's All Sing than WDW
Correct, and they still have the fountain, but in MK, since TDO is cheap, they did not bother to reinstall it.
i remember going on this when i was younger. i went in expecting the same tiki room as before... i was terrified when the goddess came out of the fountain 💀💀💀
Iago disliked this video.
I actually liked it
But seriously, I fortunately never got to see Under New Management up close, but I can safely assert that it's definitely one of the biggest cock-ups in Disney park history. As a lover of the original attraction that I am, I probably would've walked out of UNM within the first five minutes and demand to know who was responsible. What Imagineers came up with that junk, and what were they smoking at the time? But here's an even bigger kicker: they got the original voice cast (except Ernie Newton [Pierre] who passed away in 1996), with Jerry Orbach taking over Pierre, and they didn't use them! Granted Pierre has more speaking lines, they didn't give Wally Boag, Fulton Burley or Thurl Ravenscroft any new lines...maybe 1 or 2, but that's it. They should've had them re-record their intros or something. Man, talk about a waste of talent. They probably forced Orbach because he was under contract. Well, whatever they paid him, it wasn't enough. Glad this horrible attraction was dealt some poetic justice and the Sunshine State can enjoy the original show again.
It was worse in person
I have no doubt. I wonder what they did with the Zazu animatronic? I know they recycled Uh-Oah and she's got a new gig in the juice bar. Hopefully they did something decent with Zazu or gave him a nice burial, as he was the only other tolerable thing about the show. As for the Iago animatronic, let that mechanical demon burn in hell.
@@ExplorerDS6789 Zazu animatronic was good, they should have put him in a Lion King themed area, maybe he was messed up in the fire or something :(
Ima be real that version of friends was the one i know my heart yo
I’m glad I saw Disney World In ‘84.
In a way, Iago’s script may’ve been the imagineers’ bitter, winking, and spot-on meta-commentary on Michael Eisner’s stewardship of Disney: brash, tone-deaf, allergic to taste or to innocent fun, and wrecking everything needlessly with the unearned self-confidence of every cookie-cutter CEO with a Wharton MBA. With the media resources at his disposal, he’s been able to rewrite his public image and cast himself as “Disney’s savior…” but looking back, Disney has never been a bigger mess - an equal collection of good ideas cancelled, bad ideas executed, and good ideas executed disastrously - than it was in the late ‘80s and throughout the ‘90s under Michael Eisner’s stewardship.
The only time a building fire was a good thing
I would definitely buy a Iago puppet if it looked like the one on the attraction.
I don’t think it’s bad show, But it’s a bad replacement
The tiki room opened in June 1963
11:37-11:41 - I wanna see the Lilo and Stitch Aloha E Komo Mai overlay of Tokyo Disneyland’s Enchanted Tiki Room Show happen at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom with a new Stitch animatronic like the one at Tokyo Disneyland!
The Tokyo Disneyland version of the show really is a lot of fun, and whilst some people don't like it, I think it's a great example of what an overlay should be. - Luke
ReviewTyme Almost everyone would love the new Enchanted Tiki Room snow from Tokyo Disneyland and I’d like to see it happen at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom as a compliment to the original Tiki Room shows the one at Tokyo Disneyland as well as a light-hearted jab at the Under New Management overlay with the two birds featured in the overlay that took over the Tiki Room appearing outside the Tiki Room show building along with cameo appearances from a Stitch Tiki, Stitch dressed as a Tiki Room Bird, Kevin and her babies from Disney/Pixar’s “Up”, Heihei from Moana along with Maui who transformed into a Tiki Room Bird, and tikis of other Disney characters! Salty the Parrot from Miss Adventure Falls at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park will make appearances throughout the show along with Stitch Tikis and some Disney character tikis!
Quick correction the original Tiki Room at Disneyland open June 23, 1963 not in 1964 I love your channel and watch all the time 👍
Hey Greg thanks for the correction, I'm gonna have to hand in my Disney Enthusiast membership card for that one! Thanks for watching, we're glad you love the content! - Luke
@@ReviewTyme you're welcome and I should know my Disney history used to be a Cast Member at Disneyland. You are A ok in my book 👍😀
Shit this version of the tiki room was my childhood agh
For the past 30 years, Disney has been run by corporate suits who never visited Disney parks when they were kids and could care less about the 'older' attractions.
There's no nostalgia, no honor and no respect to Walt's original vision.
I would bet that 75% of Disneyland and Disneyworld guests are there for pure nostalgia.
Keeping some old park favorites and leaving them alone is the smartest business movie Disney can make.
And after I seize Disney in a hostile takeover, I will make it great again by being the Donald Trump it needs and destroy all traces of the suits as if they were never there. "What would Walt do?" will be the law of the land again like it was after his death and nostalgia will be the law even if the suits scream that I've sentenced Disney to bankruptcy and death. By preaching Make Disney Great Again and catering only to Disney purists I hope I also anger the suits into declaring Disney a Trump supporting company and starting a Boycott Disney movement in retaliation. Nobody will miss them. I'm even writing a book about this era of Disney and filling it with slanderous attacks against not just the suits, but their wives and children too. I plan on going after the entire Iger and Chpaek families.
Amen, going to them is like visiting old relatives
This sucks for the tiki room they shouldn't of never change this now it really sucks now they should change it back
Is very funny how in tokyo the tiki room had a crossover with sitch thats actully good, but here in the US people were baffled with the changed to stich in tomorrowland, maybe tokyo could have done alien encounter with zazu and Iago
If I was in a pitch black room and Gilbert Gotfried started screaming at me, I'd be pretty terrified.
Nope. I for one loved the update! I loved Zazu! The original is a snooze fest. I do love the chanting totem poles though. Oo ah a la e oo!
Get some culture please
This is an accurate description. I mean, the tiki room may be a touch racist, but at least it's not offensive
How’s it racist it’s just birds lol
@@tyus2625 because of the portrayal of polynesian culture and the amalgamation of Maori, Tahitian, and Hawaiian culture
I saw this attraction a video of it yesterday it was decent and funny also why is this version so hated I dont understand that I like this version but the original was always more fascinating but this version is still great nonetheless though
AWFUL version! Love this video, RT! Hey, the ride opened in 1963.NOT 1964. Just saying.
Idk how it’s a failed attraction.. it was pretty amazing and made the experience actually fun and up to date. Now it’s just some dated attraction that’s boring and lame.
Way to out yourself, Michael Eisner.
The Tiki Room is sooo racist.
Uh how???
@@tyus2625 It's full of Polynesian stereotypes and exploits the culture of indigenous people of the Pacific islands.
@@gastronomist go home
PLEASE center your vocal track holy crap this is infuriating to listen to with you speaking only in the right ear.
Tiki Room under new management was anything but a disaster. It made the attraction bearable. The old show is shallow and boring and not interesting at all. UNM made it fun. It’s a shame they went back.
