What an engaging and well-crafted piece of music, performed quite well. At first one wonders why the D-flat is insistently intruding in the harmony--and then in the inner section the key of D-flat itself suddenly emerges in a lyrical second theme, like the sun popping out from behind a cloud to illuminate snow-covered pines. Really cool.
I have yet to hear a single piece by Rodio Shchedrin that I haven't absolutely loved! Too bad he's essentially unknown here in the West. He is a major Russian composer.
@HomelyCooking : a troika is a sleigh--this is exactly the right "sleighing" tempo! The bells on the harness are charming here. Nobody every has done bells as well as Shchedrin: they show up everywhere in his music.
I was surprised to see that this is performed at the correct tempo. It sounded to me like practice tempo after I listened to a performance by a Mr. George Zu, which is almost twice as fast as this recording.
this is amazing...need to play it now haha
One of my favorite piece by Shchedrin
Love the fact that the meter shifts ever so often and the harmony and articulation is just marvelously quirky!

Одно из первых фортепианных произведений Щедрина.
@@Фумихико я тоже. Играл в 2015 году.

I like staccatissimo and legatissimo :)
Nice
it looks like the young Stravinsky's studies
@HomelyCooking Shchedrin's own performance is only a little faster than this one.
@MEpianist Oh my god o_o
Good or bad?
they're only tenth intervals. It's a stretch, i'll agree but i can cover an eleventh.
Хорошо,но долговатоне стоило полную А делать,вот повтор бы я вырезал,а окончание ужасное, произведение неплохое)
those intervals are not streching at all..........you have to see rachmaninoff's preludes and concertos!!!
