    The photo of the eastern kingbird at 11:33 is my favorite. The color of the light is beautiful and despite of the strong backlight, the exposure on the bird is good. I totally agree with what you said in another video, the blown-out backlight is not a bad thing necessarily, just like shown in that photo.

    Happy birthday, Stefano! My wife and I enjoy your channel a lot, and we've learned a lot from you. We've recently made our backyard a popular resort for local birds, following your advice. I wanted to add that one very special thing about your channel is the welcoming, friendly mood you bring into your videos. You do a wonderful job of sharing your knowledge without ever looking down on your audience.

      @@StefanoIaniro Yes, my wife has a growing list on e-Bird. We're in Florida, so the backyard species are limited. In three weeks we've had three mourning doves, two pairs of tufted titmice, several pairs of blue jays, a couple of northern cardinals with a juvenile, carolina wrens, chickadees, a shy parula, a house finch, downy and red-bellied woodpeckers, and crows. This afternoon we had a couple of pileated woodpeckers visiting, but not for the feeders. I got this shot of one: instagram.com/p/CDzeAguBGD6/

    First of all, happy birthday and congratulations on 10k! Second of all, as a little bit of an update on my comment earlier this summer about my attempt to get enough money for an A7iii with a 200-600mm lense. I didn't quite make it, I'm a few hundred short, but I'm still inspired and I'm trying to find a job on the weekends now that school has started and I can't work during the week. I'll get there, and I can't wait! Seeing you birding with that lense makes me want it even more, amazing images!

    Hey I’m new here, but I’d like to say that your photos are awesome. I have a Sony A7Riv too, but I struggle to get my images to be as sharp as yours turn out. I try to run over 1/400 shutter speed and that’s got me better results, but is a lot of your images sharpened in post or generally decent out the camera? Again, great work, I’ve watched about 6 of your videos so far and keep it up!

    • @StefanoIaniro
      @StefanoIaniro  3 года назад

      Hey! Thanks so much, that means a lot! For my photos in my RUclips videos, I try to minimize the amount of sharpening I do. I edit photos differently depending on the platform I'm uploading them to. It also depends which lens I'm using. For example, that 90mm macro from Sony is so dang sharp, that adding any heavy sharpening would be overkill IMO. I had some great light in this video for the birds, which also helps in getting sharper shots!

    Hey, do you take Avery single picture ate 6.3? Most other photographers I know stick to F8. 6.3 is wide open in your case right? So not the sharpest aperture? Also, at 600mm how much do you crop? Do you mind showing the raw before the edited images? I am really wondering how much each image is cropped.

    • @StefanoIaniro
      @StefanoIaniro  3 года назад

      Hey! Yeah, I definitely shoot at f/6.3 majority of the time. It's not as sharp as f/8, but it's still very good. With the a7RIV I'm always trying to get the lowest ISO possible, which often means shooting wide open. I'm hoping to do some more in-depth editing videos this fall/winter :)

      Ugh, that link keeps breaking. I don't think they make that model anymore. It's a Neewer Flash Softbox, with two layers of diffusion. From what I'm seeing, it looks like they only have the smaller one with only one layer.

    Are you hand holding the camera with one hand if you’re holding the flash?

      Hey, yes I'm holding the camera in one hand and the flash in the other. I usually will attach a camera strap so that I can let go of the camera whenever I'm not using it. I also will sometimes use it on a tripod. Going handheld is just easier since I can easily adjust my position as the insects move. Using a tripod can be frustrating if you need to keep adjusting the height

    I'm wondering, why would you use iso 800 with a flash? Can't you go all the way down to 100 ? (surely you're not at full power of your flash)
    If anybody knows I'd be curious to hear the answer :) Thx!

      Yeah I definitely could have gone to ISO100, it's just how I use my flash. In the daytime, I only like to use flash as fill flash. So what I do is I expose the scene normally in camera (as if I wasn't using flash), and then I just kick in a small amount of fill flash to bring out some detail in the shadow of the insect. So when I exposed for the image normally without flash, it brought me to ISO 800. Hope this helps! 🙂
