I know this is an old comment but is there any lore as to why it’s the same person in fnaf 1 and 2? Did he survive getting stuffed? Is it golden Freddy using his voice?
I enjoy how these phone conversations establish that there were more grounded explanations behind the animatronics' behaviour, like the endoskeleton theory and the lack of a night mode. It created a mystery whether they were just machines or something more paranormal.
It's amazing how an indie game like FNAF could not only turn into its own video game series, but also provide a really deep and fascinating lore that is compelling enough to lure people in and make them want to learn more. Hats off to Scott Cawthon for his work on this series.

@@comicfan8350 That quote still freaks me out to this day. Not only does it blast out a crap ton of lore, but it also gave off that “shit just got real” type of vibe. It’s amazing.
2 years later lol, but I also love how he stops trying to convince you that the animatronics aren’t dangerous. He goes from trying to assure you that Freddy’s is the safest place on Earth, to sounding genuinely anxious and telling you to “stay close to the animatronics. Make sure they don’t hurt anyone, okay?” That development always gives me little chills
FNAF 1 night 4 call is actually scarier now, in light of recent events… You can hear him worrying that he’s gonna get stuffed in a suit, and when he gets cornered, you can hear him losing all hope. One of his final words were “I’m happy I was able to record those phone calls uhh… when I did.” Now it’s even more true than ever.
24:03 damn this guy doesn’t care about you at all he’s basically like “yea if you start fucking dying then do it somewhere else we can’t have a nobody ruin the Fazbear name bro”
HAHAHAH YES he was like "idk if the suit goes off move over to a private place so you bleed out where nobody can see you fazbear has a reputation and you will _not_ ruin it."
Theory: Maybe Phone Guy is actually the day shift guard, and he knows that at night it gets dangerous, so he’s recording the messages just before his shift ends to help out the Nightguard, and in Fnaf 1 Night 4, he had to stay a bit longer to record the message, so he stayed too long to the point where the Animatronics got to him.
it's a good theory, but in fnaf 2, phone guy is just an employee, maybe a day guard, and at one of the phone calls he says, "when the place eventually opens again, i'll probably take the night shift myself", which is what he does in fnaf 1, which leads to his death.
@VoltDenatsu Kinda makes sense because if you think about it Michael Afton could be the phone guy in 1 and 2 bc In 3 we’re for sure playing as Michael and guess what we get Phone Dude

the fear in his voice in the last night of fnaf 2 is such a cool detail- i love how it also totally ties in with the first game too with him saying he'll take the night shift
I really appreciate this kind of storytelling. It might be simillar to other videogame's hidden tape sistem or something like that, but it's just simillar at the surface, It's really a unique type of narrative. The phone guy tells you indications and mechanics to follow in-game, just as important lore parts, and he even rambles a bit, just like it was a real person! It also gives you a close look about what is happening right now, just as the guy's phone death or even Afton tampering with the animatronics at the second game. It also feels a bit annoying, because of the voice tone and you trying to surviving the animatronics while this guy just keep talking to you forever! Is narrative, the lore, a manual and it contributes to the horror experience. It's just perfect! I know I wrote a lot, anyways I don't expect anybody to read this. I still can't figure out why in fnaf 3 night 4 tape talks about "an unfortunate incident at the sister location involving multiple and simultaneous spring lock failures". Is the same place we know from fnaf 5? Because funtimes are just mortal child traps, not spring lock suits, right? It feels like a reference to something that scott decided to change. Oh my, have a happy new year, lad.
I believe when he says sister location he means another freddy fazbears pizza not the game! Also in one of the nights of sl you were actually in a springlocked suit from what I remember.
That Night 4 phone call brings back... unpleasant memories. Thankfully, right before the freaky golden ghost bear could bite my head off, Foxy broke through the door, grabbed me, and rescued me in the nick of time.
I remember those theories about Foxy, about him not wanting to kill us and was just trying to check up on us which is why he didn’t jump scare us like the others, but we still died from a heart attack
I love how the first phone calls for FNAF 2 & 3 call back to the previous game, telling you to forget anything about before or that it’ll be a lot more interesting than before. Not only is it part of the story, but it’s sort of a message to the player.
True and the calls are what possibly eliminate the "Fnaf 2 is befire Fnaf 1" theory. "They tried redesigning Foxy to make him more kid-friendly" Fnaf 1 Foxy was damaged. "I wanted to ease your mind about what you've heard about the previous location" either bite of 83 or Fnaf 1 again.
@@gneu1527from what I understand, the withered animatronics and the original location was the longest standing in the series since they were refurbished and fixed up after the events of FNAF 2 and the closing of the Toy Pizzeria. So technically, FNAF 2 is still prequel.
FNAF 2 Night 6 is probably one of my favorite video game dialogues ever. He's so worried for you and everything going on in his establishment, and unlike FNAF 1, he doesn't hold back anything, he tells you you're in danger.
I'm a native Spanish speaker, and FNAF was one of the games that helped me to learn English. I was 9 years old when I played this game for the first time in 2015, and I wasn't able to understand what the phone guy was saying back then. These phone calls taught me many words in English, now 8 years later, I can listen clearly to everything he's saying.

Every time he brings up the mention of someone using one of the yellow suits or the warning of the spring locks gives me chills. Knowing what William was up to and his eventual fate and disturbing rebirthS, it’s creepy going back and listening to this backstory unravel through Phone Guy’s somewhat naive perspective.
Idk if you were around at the beginning of the series or not, but back in the day, Phone Guys perspective about William pretty much was our perspective.
When you listen to these back to back it really is easier to piece together the order in which the calls were made. An example is in fnaf 2's night 1 call. He says that the animatronics are able to roam around the building freely. then in the first game, he mentions this again, but adds that they arent allowed to roam during the day anymore. It's super cool when you notice these little differences between each game
I like how the retro tapes in fnaf 3 cover how to get in and wear the suit before explaining how moisture loosens the spring locks and kills you. Like if they were to wear it without listening to the tape for the next night they’d have no idea
The amount of hints and Easter eggs within these phone calls talking about the later games is outstanding. The Bite of 87 and about the birthday party it happend Fredbears Family dinner The Sister location The secret room Even about how Springtrap came to be and the suits being wearable
Scott Cawthon does sound and audio so well. Also the delivery here is really good I think. The night 4 call in Fanf 1 is actually just perfect with the sense of dread and horrible feeling knowing what’s going to happen. By that point in the game you’ve more then likely died once already and probably ran out of power once. You know what that jingle means, that banging and the power down sound.
Night 1: Classic introduction and another person to another victim in the suit and gives some info and help Night 2: Impressed with progress and gives more help as he knows there may be hope for Mike Night 3: Surpised with how he survived and gives some Vague information and gives more help to Mike in hope he’ll maybe survive today Night 4: happy he made it and reveals that he was trapped here and call reveals that golden Freddy killed him and possibly stuffed him in the suits Night 5: Recites “autobiography of yogi* backwards
I love Phone Guy. He's my 2nd favorite character (behind Charolette). It's neat that he's just a dude who's worked for Fazbear Entertainment for a while, at least since 1987 until his death. He's just a nice guy who, just like Jeremy from FNaF 2 and maybe Mike from FNaF 1 (I don't know if we've decided that he's Michael), got wrapped up in something horrible. He isn't plotting to kill you or get revenge on your dad, he's just a nice man
"In case the springlocks come loose while you are wearing the suit, please try to maneuver away from the populated areas, before bleeding out, as to not ruin the customer experience" Thats my favourite line makes me laugh everytime.
Phone Guy is so cool. The way he's like "Yeah, I'll probably take the night shift myself" and "These characters are beloved, so respect them" shows that he really cares about the brand and looks out for his co-workers. Just a nice guy.
"In the case of the springlocks come loose while wearing the suit, please try to maneuver away from populated areas, before bleeding out, as to not ruin the customer experience." Sounds funny, but it's actually true. At Disney World Animal Kingdom, there is a bridge that goes over aligator waters. If you fall in, staff, both in uniform and ununiformed, are trained to clear out the area. They'll move everybody away so they won't see what will happen. Nobody will go in to save you. Nobody will make the attempt because it's too dangerous. And nobody will try to get what was on you because there will be nothing left.
props to scott for his voice acting (also the fact that it takes place in like 2023 compared to the others which take place in teh late 80s and early 90s)
1:45 - "So remember, these characters hold a special place in the hearts of children and we need to show them a little respect, right? Okay." Damn this line hits so hard now after almost 10 years of fnaf...

The dread in his voice in FNaF 2 Night 6 though, after being so confident, it sounds like someone talking right after crying, “Someone used one of the suits, we had a spare in the back -a yellow one- and someone used it. Now none of them are acting right” he sounds so scared, and so surprised at what’s happening, it’s so chilling.
The cycle of hatred is liking a series then despising it cause of a terrible fandom then liking it after they move on and you've gained a nostalgia for it
“Like, the attraction opens in like a week, so we have to make sure everything works, and nothing catches on fire!” How ironic since Fazbear’s Fright ends up burning down anyway.
“they used to be able to walk around during the day too, but then there was the bite of ‘87” and “someone used one of the suits. we had a spare in the back,a yellow one, someone used it… now none of them are acting right” and “we found one, a real one” in my opinion are the most iconic parts of the calls in the 3 OG games
The fact that when the phone guy said " I'll take the night shift for myself" after he said that and it turned to fnaf3 it was a different guy just shows that they even put in his death from Fred bears fright
Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for damage to property or a person. Upon discovering the damage or death have occurred, a missing person report will be filed within 90 days or as soon property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached, and the carpets have been replaced. Blah Blah Blah
Uh, the animatronic characters here do get a bit quirky at night, but do I blame them? No! If I were forced to sing those same stupid songs for twenty years and I never got a bath? I'd probably be a bit irritable at night too. So, remember, these characters hold a special place in the hearts of children and we need to show them a little respect, right? Okay.
@@pinkfair.y So, just be aware, the characters do tend to wander a bit. Uh, they're left in some kind of free roaming mode at night. Uh.... Something about their servos locking up if they get turned off for too long. Uh, they used to allowed to walk around during the day too. But then there was the Bite of '87. Yeah. I-It's amazing that the human body can live without the frontal lobe, you know?
@@nerymuniz6427 Uh, now concerning your safety, the only real risk to you as a night watchman here, if any, is the fact that these characters, uh, if they happen to see you after hours probably won’t recognize you as a person. Now since that’s against the rules here at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, they’ll probably try to…forcefully stuff you inside a Freddy Fazbear suit.
I am actually wondering now, if a night guard came in and put on a fursuit in the office, would the animatronics be chill all night? It wouldn’t be exactly the same as the animatronic suits, obviously, but they’re robots. They suck at pattern recognition.
Could you convince someone to try it; considering that most if not all are blind to danger they would need advice beforehand And even then would someone even want to risk it

@@Doodlesdoo the first restaurant opened by William afton and Henry emily. Also the incident where Charlotte (Henry's daughter) was murdered I believe? I do know the bite of 83 happened there though
I have a theory that the green man outside of JR's in Midnight Motorist is the phone guy. It seems to be confirmed at this point that the orange guy is actually William Afton, and based on the phone calls from FNAF 2 I think he's the employee who moves to day shift and then gets fired once the investigation starts. Also the way green talks to orange is reminiscent of phone guy's polite, slightly timid behavior, saying things like "you know you can't be here, don't make this more difficult than it has to be." Not a very important detail, but could be a fun reference.
In fnaf 2, it's always fun when phone guy pauses, then says something. You just know he's trying to put it as nicely as possible that something bad is going to happen.
I'm assuming the timeline with these are: the cassette tapes of the original phone guy (that you get in 3rd game) which probably takes place in the first freddy fazbear's location, then fnaf 2 in the 2nd fazbear location, fnaf 1 where phone guy dies in the last location, then phone dude. This also made me finally realize that phone guy must have worked in the same location at the same time afton did. It's probably weird that I didn't fully make that connection till now.
When I first played FNAF 1 as a kid back in 2014 I low-keyed cried on night 4's phone call. Now coming back to this and hearing that theory you made about it, about phone guy wanting you to check the suit to see if he's in there, just hits hard
This is lowkey pretty surreal. As a person who’s gone through a few crappy jobs with hidden job duties they don’t tell you in the description, it’s not surprising to go through the full two to three weeks until you quit cuz you need that rent/gas money ya know? Lol
What I like about FNaF 1 is how before all the Purple Guy stuff, the "lore" of the game was basically that the people running the Pizzaria are just really shady and negligent trying to do their best to cut cost, doesn't matter how much of a safety hazard the place is for the clients and specially the security guard. You can maybe infer that the missing children died at the Pizzaria and the staff shoved their bodies in the animatronic just to avoid any trouble.
You know it's kind of ironic Afton didn't hear that one call about the Spring Bonnie Suit, which definitely would've saved his life but also would lead to many more deaths. And the foreshadowing of Sister Location is incredible.
Btw on night 6 when the restaurant was closing down for a while he seemed really worried about it stuttering and stuff you could tell he cared about fazbear entertainment
Night 4 is when he knew it was over. And he knew what was gonna happen, perhaps he signed a NDA of what he knew when signing up for the position, and on night 4 he saw an animatronic and knew it was over. But he continues to warn the new guy, and also gives a hint that he would soon be in the back room in a suit, truly haunting. But kinda creative, you can definitely use it in a creative mannor
I feel like Scott doing phone guy for the first three games really added to the effect of being alone but not quite. I feel like the more recent games being filled with voice acting almost takes away from the whole isolation of the game. FnaF 1,2, and 3 are perfect at that and I’m really glad that it was limited but still had the right amount. The added voice acting in later games isn’t a negative, it’s just not quite the FnaF isolation experience that these OGs nail

Yeah
It's amazing how an indie game like FNAF could not only turn into its own video game series, but also provide a really deep and fascinating lore that is compelling enough to lure people in and make them want to learn more. Hats off to Scott Cawthon for his work on this series.

2 years later lol, but I also love how he stops trying to convince you that the animatronics aren’t dangerous. He goes from trying to assure you that Freddy’s is the safest place on Earth, to sounding genuinely anxious and telling you to “stay close to the animatronics.
The Phone guy in 1 and 2 are more likely to be the same person, he mentioned that when it reopens he would work the night shifts himself.

"Things start getting real tonight" is one of my favorite lines of all the fnaf 1 calls.

Night 4 is when he knew it was over.
