I'm usually making videos and don't have time to watch any but the thumbnail caught my eye and the build did not disappoint! Thanks for the good content I enjoyed this.
Nice job there. I did this about 4-5 years ago to my Dell Optiplex 780 DT which is still running a Xeon X3363 (sticker mod) and a Low Profile GTX 750 Ti. Runs extremely well with all the mods on it. Great machines for the money but it's starting to show its age.
Great job there! I have the same PC, which came shipped in 2016 with Windows 7 Pro x64 already installed, plus a recovery partition & WOW, a Core 2 Quad 9650 for $105, a killer deal, as many were selling the same with E8400-8600 for the same or higher. Actually the E8600 is a decent CPU, or would be for web usage only, especially with Linux. However the recovery partition, while not loaded with crapware, the drivers weren't quite right for the model (only 5 are listed on the Dell site). So I removed the drive, installed a 2.5" 256GB Samsung 840 PRO, installed Windows 7 clean & then the drivers & had a killer PC. Later, I'd add the full 16GB RAM & a MSI GT 1030 (2GB GDDR5) with both HDMI 2.0b & Displayport 1.4 ports, is now running on a 4K monitor. Note that the only extra expense was the GPU, as I had the rest of components on hand, some from doing upgrades for others, they allowed me to have the lesser parts, this PC is picky about RAM! Fortunately, I had two complete matching sets, acquired over a year apart. Today, it's running Windows 10 1909 x64, but given the extra power the OS needs, security & Google Chrome, is getting long in the teeth & upgraded to an Optiplex 7010. Will reinstall Windows 7 at the point it was upgraded to W10 & use to control a webcam for security & who knows, Linux Mint x64 Cinnamon may be the perfect fit, as it doesn't need a ton of resources to run. Google Chrome would then use the most, yet there'll be a lot more headroom. Thanks for the great video!
I had to game on a Dell Optiplex 7010 for about a year with a GTX 1050. I had to take out the side of the pc and keep it out as well. I finally upgraded my pc and now it looks a lot better.
Another suggestion: Optiplex or Thinkcenter with i5 >= 2400 with 8gb of Ram for ~90$ and a gtx 950 for ~60$. Runs Pupg in 60fps and fortnite in 70fps. But cleary doesnt look that cool
@@tokyodraco5091 ddr4 would be far too new and expensive. Shove whatever cheap ram to push it to its 8gb max you can get, probally ddr2 or maybe 3. Then get an MSI 1050TI mini and a core 2 quad and that will get you the most performance.

Dang man you deserve way more than the 536 subs you have. This was a great video and coincidentally i have an optiplex 780 just sitting around collecting dust. I might give this a try. Good video 👍
That's crazy. I just last month boughtone of these opti's. I painted mine white sides, black centers, put in a 780 motherboard and q6600 with fbs tape MOD. With a grand total of 48$ invested. Had a 280w pay in it and I slapped in an old gt620 that was new in the box still sealed up. Runs great for 50$ although may spend 50-75$ on a used gt1030 for better performance.
I love this video it's given me some great inspiration. Here in the UK I bought a Dell Optiplex 780 for just basic web surfing and the office programs but I aways felt it had good potential as a budget gaming PC. Thanks for the tips I'm going to pim it up for sure and save a few pounds as well. Handy little computers these Dell's they really last. Mine is refurbished and cost less than £60 but it runs so quich and reliable. Liked and subscribed .
I got a dell optiplex 3010 mt that came with an i3 3220, 8gb ram, 250gb HDD, and Windows 10 on it for free because it was full of dust and needed a good cleanup. I then installed an i5 2400, 450w rosewill arc psu, and an msi armor rx570 4gb for a total cost of $165 USD. It is more than enough power to run any game at 60 fps. One of the best deals I’ve ever seen.
I have a bunch of old work pcs that are the optiplex 780s and 785s, upgrade the cou to an Intel xenon 3380x (best lga775 cpu) and an 90$ 1050ti and ill have a few of these in a week or so, awesome video, wont compare to my actual 2 pc builds but will be cool to give to friends as a starter pc for christmas
I thought this was pretty cool I'm actually going to pick one up later this week. What you could do is upgrade the ram (this supports 16gb) but getting 8gb is pretty cheap, and you could also do the lga 771 to 775 mod and grab a quad core xeon processor. It should improve performance significantly.
I actually started this build with an EVGA 750Ti but I was unsure of the true wattage on the factory power supply, so to leave myself headroom I went with the 650. The Asus card was also easier on the eyes :-)
yo tengo una optiplex 380 y una gtx 750 ti asus y va geneal sin ningun problema , Actualizare el Procesador por un XEON E5045 QUAD CORE 3.0 GHZ A VER que tal anda esta semana me llega
The system looks real nice! Although I was mostly interested in the side window, too you didn't really cover that in the video. How does one go about making such a nice side window into the case? How do you attach the plexi glass? Epoxy or E6000, or smth else?
I used a rotary tool with a fiber cut off wheel to cut the shape of the window that I wanted. You could also use a 4 inch grinder with a cut off wheel depending on your case material thickness. I then smoothed out the corners and edges with a sanding roll on that same rotary tool. Some file work may be required to get the look that you want, but the paint at the end will hide most of your crimes. The sheet of acrylic is the most straightforward part, as you need to cut it slightly larger than your cutout so it has an area it can affix to. Acrylic is a bit picky when it comes to adhesives, but a 2 part epoxy that is listed to work with acrylic and metal will work. I dabbed a circle of the epoxy in each corner to hold it in place. You do not have to use too much as the window isn't holding any weight. I know it is late but I hope this helps.

I would suggest a Q9400, 8GB of DDR3, and a Low Profile GT1030. The Q9400 is like $15 on eBay and it's much faster than a Q6600. The 780 can only run RAM at 1066MHz so there's no reason to buy anything faster, 8GB's (4 x 2GB) is around $25. The biggest expense is the GT1030 but it's still less than $100 most places. Don't waste your money on a GT730, it's honestly too weak in my opinion.
