7:10 dude. You have to try Waldmeister. It's *the* quintessential German flavor. There is Maibowle, which is a Waldmeister and wine based alcoholic drink popular in spring There is Ahoi Brause which is bags of powder that added to water (0.2 liters per bag) gives a fizzy drink, but you can also eat the powder pure or chase it with a wodka ("Wodka Ahoi") Try it.
Hehe, that raindrops are actually quite funny. When i was 15 or so i cycled to the next village and there was a sharp border between rain and no rain across the street right at the village-limit sign, no fading at all, sudden change. So weird that i can remember it over a decade later.
CatzHoek I can also remember a similar situation when I was 8 or something like that... There was really thick and heavy rain wall moving towards us, really weird to watch :P
06:48 Grapefruit and Mango is obviously ;) but here are the others: Grüner Apfel = green apple Schwarze Johannisbeere = black currant Zitrone Limette = lemon lime Erdbeer Rhabarber = strawberry pieplant Waldmeister = sweetscented bedstraw aka sweet woodruff aka master of the woods aka wild baby's breath aka Galium odoratum
You and Conner could seriously consider to ask for a sponsorship from the city of Marburg or something... Such a beautiful town. I'll make sure to stop by for a day, when I make my way up to my holiday in Hamburg
we do have shawarma (meat) and shish taouk (chicken) here in Montreal Canada, it is like Mc Donalds or even more spread, also across Quebec in general, I have no idea if it is a thing in the rest of Canada, but it has been around for at least as much as I can remember and I am 55YO, so!
3:08 Isnt it weird putting a camera on the ground, walk to the car and then go back to pick it up again just for the scene? I mean I appreciate the scene because its nice but filming it must be so weird :)
The Shwarma you was talking about is basically a Wrap called "Dürüm" here in germany and was invented by a German Turk. Some other Types of this food already existed in turkey.
@6:33 "Now I'm gonna go hit the sauna strech out my neck..." As Kaitlyn was alongside you working out, too... Did she come with you into the sauna? What are her thoughts on german saunas, especially mixed ones?
I'm not so sure about that rain thing. So few drops so close together? I doubt that it comes from very high up. Maybe somebody was watering flowers or cleaning windows on a higher building?
Try using a backpack with an included net on the backside...like for example "Deuter AC Lite 26" (no ad). They are a little expansive, but very comfortable and you sweat a lot less. :-)
Silas…this is a real offer: I really like your channel as I can see how you perceive Germany. I have been travelling to many other countries including yours and I am curious about how US-Americans perceive my country. And I REALLY appreciate that you have got rid of certain aspects of it; concerning what you learnt at school. So many people of your country do not travel, but you do! I really like to watch your channel. So here is my offer: Do you wanna learn kitesurfing? I have been an instructor for 14 years including sponsorship… tell me your size and weight and you will get a wetsuit and a harness for sure. We need a max of 5h on a windy day. And you can encounter the nicest beach in Germany with marvelous pictures for your drone in a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Germany!. I will have all the necessary equipment waiting for you! ;-) The south of Germany is so much different to the north ( about Hamburg)!
I have never heard of it before I saw it in your video from Köln! I have to try it, I am really curious, but unfortunately I couldn't find a Shawarma shop here in the North! :(
"We don't have anything like this in the states" is so funny. I am german and I heard of it for the first time from Tony Stark in the Avengers movie. Always thought it was an american thing. But I guess if you are a billionaire, you can order shawarma from another country by plane^^
Wenn dir etwas klar wäre, würdest du Tierquälerei nicht unterstützen! Ich bin Vegetarierin, mein Statement hat also nichts mit irgendeiner scheiss Religion zu tun.
I'm from syria, living in Kassel, Germany and shawarma is a beloved Fastfood tradition of ours and anyone who tries it gets hooked, also would love to meet up with you one day!!
Come over the long Holiday Pfingsten Weekend next week to Frankfurt. It is Wäldchestag aka party in the forest. It is rather unique as it happens in the forest. I personally prefer it to Oktoberfest because of the location. Otherwise it is the same, besides the tents, everything is outside and the weather is supposed to be good. beergardens, live music, dancefloors, rides and good food. What is not to like?
My daughter plays fastpitch softball and gets sore a lot. Rolling on the ball before playing a game or practice and after, is that good to work out the soreness?
Does "Sofra Döner" in the passage bei the Unterstadt / Oberstadt elevator still exist? When I was in Marburg (a decade in the past) they made the best Döner I ever had
That wasn't rain. God was drooling over your shawarma :D Damn, I never heard of that before. I guess they use different marinade for their meat and different sauces than they do for döner.
To clarify: it's "Shawarma", not "Shwarma" - you pronounce the first "a" as well. And in in correct German it would be "Schawarma" which is the transcription of the Arabian word "šāwarmā".
local spot rain.... yeah once I experienced it myself. I was riding my bike and a heavy shower began to come down, I rode up the street to the next bridge to get get under it. It was an Autobahn crossover, so not a small bridge but still only a couple of yards to the other side maybe 27y (25m). When I got there under the bridge behind me it was dark, I mean really dark! I looked up in front of me and I saw sunshine at the other side...😲 I rode up to the other side and had a look, it was all sunny and bone-dry, not a single drop of rain. I looked back and there it was still dark from the heavy clouds and rain. I got back just to make sure I wasn't experiencing an optical illusion and yes, from where I came it was raining cats and dogs. I shrugged my shoulders and continued to ride my bike in the sun leaving the bad weather behind me. 😂
Those tiny rain clouds, you get them if someone DIDN'T FINISH THEIR MEAL the day before! Every German knows this, don't eat up and it's gonna rain the next day. Tiny rain cloud following you around...
7:10 dude. You have to try Waldmeister. It's *the* quintessential German flavor.

Try it.
It's hard to describe the flavor, but "green" is not too bad a description ;-)
I'm German and I hate this stuff so much. Worst taste ever! But you have to try it yourself.
Waldmeister (lit. "master of the woods") = woodruff
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galium_odoratum
Jesus, thank you that you didnt tell him how Germans make sex with Ahoi Brause :)
They do?
Hehe, that raindrops are actually quite funny. When i was 15 or so i cycled to the next village and there was a sharp border between rain and no rain across the street right at the village-limit sign, no fading at all, sudden change. So weird that i can remember it over a decade later.

Zitrone Limette = lemon lime
Erdbeer Rhabarber = strawberry pieplant
Waldmeister = sweetscented bedstraw aka sweet woodruff aka master of the woods aka wild baby's breath aka Galium odoratum
You have to try Waldmeister there, a special flavour in Germany and tastes rlyyy good
Yup waldmeister isnt common in the us. Its a "special" flavor thing just like marzipan. Try also a sour beer called berliner weiße with waldmeister.
000jimbojones000 älter das ist total süß^^
i like waldmeister wackelpudding
I hate it
The translation is woodruff
yea the rain here in europe sometimes is crazy. one time in the front of my hous it was littarly raining and in the backyard we head sun.
You and Conner could seriously consider to ask for a sponsorship from the city of Marburg or something... Such a beautiful town. I'll make sure to stop by for a day, when I make my way up to my holiday in Hamburg
1:22 Don't know if it's a shawarma cam or such an ass cam😂😂😂😉😁
"As you can see, these guys obviously don't care what they look like" Hah!
And they confirmed your observation
That wasn't blackberry, but blackcurrant. Blackberry is "Brombeere" in german.
Somebody is spitting on them from the church... lmao
l5o161 b9kyit time ?
Greetings to the city where I was born. Spent much of my childhood in this area visiting my grandmother. Very nice Vlog.
Looks pretty tasty! Need to try that at some point. Love me some Döner (kebab) and other delicious things every once in while. :D
Silas Nacita True! :)
VlogDave döner is turk made food
Schwarma and Döner is all you really need for a culinary fulfilling live ;).
waldmeister flavour is the best, dude.
The translation of Waldmeister is wood ruff, but it isn't popular in any other country than germany I think.
1:15 great nalf shot great art
Reminds me more to the "Naked Gun" intro.
Theres a few good Shawarma places in DFW.
Search shawarma on yelp when you land at DFW airport
Abdul is a proper businessman. He probably changed his actual name to “Abdul von Schawarmahaus”.
M M yeah😂
we do have shawarma (meat) and shish taouk (chicken) here in Montreal Canada, it is like Mc Donalds or even more spread, also across Quebec in general, I have no idea if it is a thing in the rest of Canada, but it has been around for at least as much as I can remember and I am 55YO, so!
Holy... I live 20 minutes from there, I have to visit this shop 😀

I know the backsweat problem I bought the 1 air backpack and that is soo good and 100% made in Germany. It's very recommendable.

3:08 Isnt it weird putting a camera on the ground, walk to the car and then go back to pick it up again just for the scene? I mean I appreciate the scene because its nice but filming it must be so weird :)
DerMarx it‘s the magic of cinema. Like clapping to get dressed instantly.
I always waited for the moment you’ll find out about Döner/Kebab 😂😂👌🏻
My favorite American food is korean bbq
The Shwarma you was talking about is basically a Wrap called "Dürüm" here in germany and was invented by a German Turk. Some other Types of this food already existed in turkey.
Glad you and your wife enjoy the food and the facilities Silas. Have a good day you two. :)
You have to try limette mixed with johannisbeere and sparkling water 💁♀️
Rhabarber = rhubarb/pieplant
If he even knew what rhubarb is...
how much protein you eat a day ?
@6:33 "Now I'm gonna go hit the sauna strech out my neck..."
As Kaitlyn was alongside you working out, too... Did she come with you into the sauna? What are her thoughts on german saunas, especially mixed ones?
You Must try Waldmeister. It's some kind of herb, which doesn't exist in america. Therefor you can't find a matching translation
Der Rattler woodruff. Noch nie auf die Zutaten bei einem Waldmeistertrunk geschaut? Hahahah
I think it is Sha-war-ma (and Abdul also pronounced it like that).
And "schwarze Johannisbeere" is "Blackcurrant". Blackberry is Brombeere.
Rhabarber is rhubarb/pie plant (same thing but depends on where you are from the states)
the new intro is dope! keep up the good work, always entertaining content
Shawarma is great. If you should ever visit Berlin, we have some AWESOME shawarma! Authentic and all that.
It is a Dürüm Döner... u can get the "best" one at Dubara in Hamburg

“We don’t really have anything like this in the states” - and yet, the Avengers eat Shawarma in the end of credit scenes of Avengers 😄
Chawarma 💕🌜🌜🌜 halal 💕💕💕💕🌛🌛🌛 Ramadan kareem y'all
7:35 nice little edit :) good job bro
I still want that Silas & Kaitlyn intro, I wont give up!
Silas the best food in Germany is a fresh Döner with cheese and ‘peperoini’, you have to try it!
So going up the stairs to the Marburg castle takes exactly the length of one Shawarma! ;-)
Aw man went there yesterday aswell! Too bad I didn't meet you... Soooo good though, tried Shawarma for the first time yesterday!😍
Silas…this is a real offer:

Hey Silas,
A quick question. Where did you get your shoulderpads from?
I have never heard of it before I saw it in your video from Köln! I have to try it, I am really curious, but unfortunately I couldn't find a Shawarma shop here in the North! :(
i would test Waldmeister
"We don't have anything like this in the states" is so funny. I am german and I heard of it for the first time from Tony Stark in the Avengers movie. Always thought it was an american thing. But I guess if you are a billionaire, you can order shawarma from another country by plane^^
In the Bahnhofsstraße there is a shop called Halal Döner,
The Döner there are the best dude!
Halal is torture of animals! It would have to be completely banned in Germany!
You have to live in a big city (where there is more diversity) in the U.S. to find that. They have that in NYC.

Come over the long Holiday Pfingsten Weekend next week to Frankfurt. It is Wäldchestag aka party in the forest. It is rather unique as it happens in the forest. its like in the cartoons, when you have one rainy cloud on top of your head, so it really happenns in real life :)
My daughter plays fastpitch softball and gets sore a lot. Rolling on the ball before playing a game or practice and after, is that good to work out the soreness?
Heather Enzor it is + a glass of natronwater 4 ph-level
Reminds me of the end of Avengers 1
Kaitlyn is such a sweet soul
Does "Sofra Döner" in the passage bei the Unterstadt / Oberstadt elevator still exist? When I was in Marburg (a decade in the past) they made the best Döner I ever had
You do have shawarma in the states. The only time I had ever even heard of shawarma before was in the second Avengers movie. ☺
How is the name of his intro music
Blackberry is called Brombeere in German. Schwarze Johannisbeere is black currant
6:35 just curious, why the drink machine is in English
Sefa Döner is the best in Marburg :) Its kinda by Ahrens (the shopping mall)
Haha honestly the tights aren't the Problem. It's the socks.
Its NALF's birthday soon! You gotta prepare something!
damn, that intro tho 😮
That wasn't rain. God was drooling over your shawarma :D
Damn, I never heard of that before. I guess they use different marinade for their meat and different sauces than they do for döner.

In Silas case it was probably a bird, peeing, or a plane releasing their full sanitationtanks over a less populated area. ;D
Those tiny rain clouds, you get them if someone DIDN'T FINISH THEIR MEAL the day before! Every German knows this, don't eat up and it's gonna rain the next day. Tiny rain cloud following you around...
Make an Americans try Waldmeister video please.
Yes raining in one little spot is a German only thing.
That's very thin "Vogelkacke", no rain! ;)
so castle is the english name for both schloss and burg ? because its not a burg its a schloss
Is that why the place is called MarBURG?
I suppose fortress is a Burg
Try supposedly
I think the rain was water dropping from the building and spreaded by the wind
have you tried Döner?
Try Türkische Pizza or Rollo ☺👍 They are similar to Shawarma
That new intro :D nice
Nach dem Sport ein Radler! Ist Göttlich!
Arabic Food is thebest. Try the arabic food in Berlin! :)
