- Five students were shot and killed at Stockton's Cleveland Elementary School on Jan. 17, 1989. It was one of the nation's worst school shootings at the time.
Many people thought they would never see a school shooting like it again, but it's unfortunately a relived reality. Survivors of the shooting are revisiting the school together for the first time and sharing how the shooting led them to lifelong advocacy. Here are their stories.

I remember that day clearly, thought it was fireworks going off. It was such a traumatic event at only 9 years old. I’m thankful for the teachers that helped guided me to safety. Glad I can go back and work with great teachers that inspired me to be who I am today.

It’s not people. Well yes people do this but in reality it’s demons who control these people. They know something isn’t right but it’s to late.
I was a senior at StaggH.S . Remember that day.H.S kids got out before elementary kids.i just got in the door my mom had the news on, saying some man with a gun went to an elementary school shooting kids. The news didn't say which school yet- my sisters were in kindergarten at the elementary school on Harding ave - so the feeling of terror. It was hard to be back at school the next for all the district. Thank you for sharing this video, as I wonder now in "24 about the victims.
