Fan service is a very powerful thing. It's almost a form of mind control. My friend who loved this movie, he told me that he would have loved the movie if it were 2 hours and 30 minutes of Tobey taking a dump. This is what fan service does. You can have the dumbest movie on the planet and you just stick a character like Luke Skywalker into it and boom half the audience LOVES it.
And the thing is, marvel realised this right after infinity war. So now we got endgame and no way home.. Marvel finally realised that good storytelling was never their biggest money maker.
not this fan. im pissed even still what they did to my boy luke for that bs sequel trilogy. which i refuse to call canon. also im pissed how they handled tobey entrance too. i stopped watching the movie. due to the horrible plot and horrible writing.
This is why I love visiting your channel. I know you're just a guy with a camera giving your honest, true opinion... you're not just playing nice to get red carpet premieres, interviews with the cast or crates of free merchandise from studios.... always respect your knowledge of films. I personally love this movie and can't wait to see it again and own it...you bring up good points though and very entertaining as always. 'RAGE' 😉
That's why I despise this version of Spider-Man he never has any long-term consequences for his actions there's always some get-out-of-jail-free card and he never learns from his mistakes
He learned from his mistakes in No Way Home by the end of the film in my opinion! He realised messing with the spell brought these villains into everyone's lives and that lead to aunt may's death, he had to pay the price for the spell going wrong and Peter got doctor strange to make everyone forget who he was in order to protect them from other threats coming from the spell!
The villains were underused, goblin was wasted. The bridge fight was fake and then he comes in toward the end and we don't even get to see where he gets his new gear from. He just pops up and is gone. Not to mention the villains never actually group together for a cool shot they are all separated and randomly decide to go to the statute of liberty?
There's one issue in the plot but nobody talked about it before: Why the other villians (Raimi's Venom, the two Harry Osborns and Rhino) didn't respond to the spell ?
idk, I would've loved to seen Rhino, but they probably didn't bring back Topher's Venom because nobody likes him, TASM2's Goblin is less iconic than Dafoe's Goblin and is usually an afterthought, and lets be real, there no way they were gonna bring back James Franco.
@@dariogaelreyes7534 Still didn't explain their absence.. and i don't remember Jamie foxx's electro had any fans either and they still brought him back
I really feel his pain. I had the same feeling when I wasted a lot of my cellular data by downloading the hall recorded film and still feel scammed for wasting my time. Illogical movie ...loved the performances of Toby Andrew and the legend William Defoe
@@raktimbhagawati859 originally i knew tobey and andrew was going to be in it way before it came out. so i was cool with nostalgia as long as it was done correctly and doesn't take away from the plot. this movie that i didnt even finish as it was so bad i was done with it right when they were on the roof consoling toms spiderman 🤣🤦♀️ i was like wow this is pure cringe! i held on just to see tobey as hes my favorite spiderman. but i couldn't take it anymore because the writing was simply terrible! the fact that toms spiderman cause all of this because him, his gf and his buddy couldn't get into mit was so ridiculous! it was privelege to the 10,000 degree. they basically made Tom's spiderman into a bratty spoiled, priveleged, entitled teen! i was like wtf is this garbage that im watching? lol its a damn shame because if they handled creating a multiverse of spiddermans correctly it could have been awesome. especially doing a sinister six situation or heck maybe u introduce miles morales or maybe something is so dire(like a thanos situation) to require strange to do this spell. yet this was done for idiocy and there was so no dire situation that loomed over the plot really. also ned learning magic way way faster than so many other ancient ones students and dr. strange itself made dr stranges standalone movie a joke. that was terrible writing!
@@thelilyfarrell exactly! Marvel studios had a great opportunity to create a unique multiverse story that could set up this crossover. But they chose to capitalise nostalgia over quality and tried to rip profit with zero efforts in writing and acting. This whole movie was the worst movie of all time. The worst superhero movie. The plot makes no sense, the reasons make no sense, the characters make no sense and I didn't even give any ........ When aunt may died. The whole movie was forced upon the audience. It's like ' hey you wanted all three Spidermen , you got it , now get lost ! Wait but first give me the greeeeeeeeens💲💲💲💲' The worst superhero movie of the generation!
I was so excited for this movie that I had to watch a pirated copy just because couldn't get the chance or time to watch it in the hall. But now I realised that even watching a pirated copy of the abomination is pure torture. Why the hell was daredevil in the movie at all??😑😑
Extremely uncharacteristic of him. He is known to be a extremely conservative risk taker. And to risk the reality of his timeline for a mere college admissions is INSANE!
Another one of those Marvel movies where you come out of the theater feeling like you enjoyed it, but the more you think about it afterwards the worse and worse it gets. The writing is honestly very stupid and fan service is the only thing that makes this movie good. I am so tired of Tom Holland Spider-man.
This movie was really made to set up the "Multiverse" the writers at Marvel didn't really work on storytelling in my opinion. I did enjoy the film but I can see why someone would not like this movie.
I have noticed this trend in Hollyweird for a while now. Good writing and a logical and coherent plot in these major tentpole superhero and action films takes a backseat to the spectacle, the visuals and cinematography.
Great review, Matt. I agree with everything you said. The movie was overhyped. I do, however, like Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man, long before everybody else decided to change their minds about him. But this was a very overrated film.
I remember that Matt was giving those movies a chance, the Marvel movies to be clearer, but after Avengers Endgame, after what they did with the Incredible Hulk image, which should have been a respected duty in theaters, here it came movies or generic or bad and those that we watch and then forget about. I've always read the comics, I read them until today, when a character works in the comics, he really works, becoming attractive to follow, when he goes downhill, we just have to wait for a reboot with a suitable writer to write a cohesive story. Unfortunately, these films can't be kept up to the point where we look forward to what's to come, because we know that this formula for superheroes in theaters will never change.
I really enjoyed this movie. It is full of plot holes and has some bad dialogue, but this is one of the most fun films i've seen in a long time. I'm glad they didn't overcomplicate things by bringing people like dylan baker, chris cooper, james franco, and dane dehan into it. I think not talking about jk simmons coming back as jameson was the right thing to do. Although I would have enjoyed seeing jk play 3 jamesons, and have a callback to the line in spiderman 2 where they are naming doc ock and he says "I got it dr strange, good but it's taken." The thing I like most about the film is that everybody has a role to play. I think this is so much better than films like star wars force awakens or pirates of the caribbean 5, where mark hamill and kiera knightly didn't even have a speaking line. If Jurassic World 3 is like this new Spiderman I think I will like it. I know RamboRaph will be disappointed with dr strange in this movie.
49:19 I would love to see a parody where the villains return to their points in time they get killed and see their deaths repeat all over again, Just imaging William DeFoe zap back then he see his glider coming towards him again and say again "oh" Electro comes back being overcharged to shit by the power grid, Doc Ock get crushed by his own solar machine, Lizard falls off Oscorp tower, Flint Marko returns in the air from where he was flying away from the construction site but fall to the ground 😂😂🤣 I hope HISHE does it.
I wonder if the mcu can answer this new riddle: If Green Goblin aka Norman Osborn goes back fully cured and sane, then survived, does that mean Harry Osborn never hates Spider-Man? And Harry Osborn never becomes the new goblin and dies? Does this also mean that part 2 and 3 never happened because of these altered events? Does Peter even get with mj in the Tobey universe because all these changes? Again, nothing but more questions than answers with this terrible plot.
They answered that question I think in Endgame when the characters are returned back to their own timelines when they were removed it simply branches off and creates new separate timelines for that particular timestream. In other words, you can't change your past in the MCU only create new alternate separate timeline streams but the original stream will always be there.
@@boboboy8189 The filmmakers said the idea is that Cap found some way in his own new timeline to jump back over eventually into that original timeline that he came from. It was left non-explained because the movie was already overlong and they figured no one would care by then so they didn't bother to explain it because they wanted to give Cap a heartfelt send-off. In other words, it's just a standard pothole in the movie because the movie was already stuffed but they wanted the scene anyway because it was so well executed they didn't want to give it up.
Here's a better idea that they should have used: Since "everyone who knows Peter Parker is Spider-Man will come into this universe", why not have Gwen Stacy/Emma Stone show up at the end and have her actually fall (caused by Green Goblin like the night Gwen Stacy died) and not mj. Andrew jumps and rescues her, actually redeeming himself. That would give the ASM movies a happy ending. He gets his girl back.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had a deleted ending that introduced Mary Jane. She was going to be Andrew Garfield's new love interest in the third Amazing Spider-Man movie, but that movie was never made.
I didn't like the ending of this movie. Everybody forgets who Peter Parker is. The ending has basically retcon this whole Tom Holland's Spiderman trilogy. Nothing that happened in these movies matters anymore because nobody in the MCU remembers Peter Parker anymore. I guess Sony is trying to keep Spiderman isolated from the rest of the MCU. The ending of No Way Home was Sony saying f you to Marvel.
@@yurikendal4868 Most reviewers on youtube are shills and the same goes for things like rotten tomatoes etc. Matt is one of the only no bullshit reviewers on here.
As much as I thought it was a good movie I do agree though people do need to chill when they say it’s a masterpiece because that is not true I wouldn’t go that far. There’s several things I wish they did differently I wish you’d be handled Doctor Strange better I wish they gave the villains their balls back instead of making them sympathetic like actually make them real threats much like the sinister six or hell even just bring in the sinister six. But no we couldn’t have that because Hollywood has their head so far up their ass they just have to rely on nostalgia because at this point everyone in Hollywood has become a nothing but a bunch of hacks, hack writers, and hack directors who can’t come up with any more original ideas. And I would like them for wants to take a chance and actually make a dark Spider-Man movie like actually made a gut wrenching nail biting brutal Spider-Man movie. Kinda like how when you talked about how you wish that they would’ve gave Peter a different and better reason to go see Doctor Strange. Like for example aunt Mae getting attacked and beat up because of the fact that everybody knows who Spider-Man is and they know that May is peters aunt and she gets the shit beat out of her and Peter sees her in the hospital and that’s what makes Peter go see Dr. strange to perform the spell. That honestly would’ve been a better reason other than Peter and Ned and MJ not being able to get into college. But that’s the problem I feel like the writers were too afraid to go that dark. And as much as I like Tom Holland maybe he is too much of a hard bleeding hippie because I feel like the writers keep forgetting that the villains has died because of Spider-Man in the original Sam Raimi movies. I mean Spider-Man was the reason why the green goblin got killed in the first movie, spider-man basically made doctor octopus sacrifice himself to stop the machine, and Spider-Man basically killed Eddie Brock in Spider-Man 3 but it wasn’t his fault because he was trying to kill the Symbiote not Eddie but Eddie was a fucking dumbass he jumped into the Symbiote and his ass got blowed up. So yeah I mean I understand that Spider-Man is not a murderer but I just wish if Tom Holland wasn’t such an oblivious hard bleeding hippie bitch because now he’s on his own. He doesn’t have his friends he lost aunt Mae so it’s kind of his fault I mean only if he would’ve just grew a pair of balls and let Doctor Strange kill the villains. I mean if he would’ve just let Doctor Strange kill the villains then aunt may would not have died and MJ and Ned would not of had to have their memories wiped out and Peter would not be alone. I mean like I said I still enjoyed the movie I really loved the camaraderie between Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield and tom Holland I thought they had great chemistry with each other and they were both pretty funny and they do make a good team. And again it was great to see Alfred Molina back as Dr. Otto Octavius it was great to see the green goblin, electro, the Sandman, and the lizard but I still wish if we would’ve gotten the sinister six because I feel like having those villains would’ve made the movie better. And I really want to see the scorpion because he’s another villain that I think is underrated I’ve always like scorpion I like them in the comics I even like him in the video games how long is it gonna take until we finally get a movie with scorpion or even the rhino. Or imagine how cool it would be if Spider-Man fought Carnage this time have Carnage actually be represented better than he was in the second venom movie. because I’m getting tired of the sympathetic village trope that every superhero movie always has to do I’m getting sick and tired of sympathizing with our villains why don’t we just go back to the days when we used to actually fear these villains and not having any idea about their backstory and why they’re fucked up because that’s the beauty of it all is mystique and intrigue. Like it’s seriously time for Hollywood to give their villains their fucking balls back. I mean let’s take Heath ledger‘s joker for example he was actually the embodiment of a terrifying threatening villain. Who we knew nothing about we knew nothing about his backstory and we didn’t need too and we didn’t need to sympathize with him and he was still a captivating villain and it was because of Heath ledger’s terrifying performance. Why can’t we just go back to that why can’t we just go back to having villains who are just terrifying and intimidating and that’s the thing about Heath ledger I mean he didn’t have a really clear motivation he just simply wanted to watch the world burn and that’s terrifying we don’t know what this guy’s true motivation is we don’t know nothing about his backstory we don’t need to all we need to know is he just wants to watch the world burn and he just wants nothing but chaos and anarchy and not knowing the reason why is terrifying. I actually thought it was pretty funny when you called them the sympathetic six because honestly now that I think about it that’s what I kind of felt like.
I actually cringed quite a bit. Especially when all of the villains were conversing when they got initially captured. The banter was VERY awkward. It's like the director told them to just talk about whatever & they printed it instantly.
nah this was really bad. ressurections is setting this up for the next film. ur not gonna get neo being neo after 25 plus years in a coma. its just not gonna happen. so pt 5 we will see him on the next level and the real Morpheus.
I'm currently watching this rant and enjoying it. I just wanted to say that from what I've seen by reactions, people who've read Spider-Man comics generally hated it and people who haven't read the comics always tend to love this movie. It's the same divide between the normies who just watch the movies and the actual comic fans who dedicate time and money to read the comics.
I dont know about this entirely. I dont know anyone who enjoys bad movie as an actual thing. From the trailers, this is nostaliaga bait. Ive already seen these stores before and Im not sure I want to see them again. I do not feel any reason to go see this.
This is the worst version of spider man out there, I mean how can u still not learn anything about taking responsibility when u are on ur THIRD movies as Spiderman ? How ?
Thanks for the review! I personally enjoyed the movie, but I'm not in the camp that it's the best Spider-Man movie; people need to chill a bit. Is it better than Spider-Man 2? Into the Spiderverse? I wouldn't go that far at all. I had some nitpicks with the movie, but Tom Holland really grew on me here, coming from someone who hated Homecoming and Far From Home.
I disagree. Far From Home/Homecoming didn't have a Tom Holland/Spider-man that was So Stupid that he literally invited at least 4 Villains into his Own Home where his Aunt May was living with...with zero protection and zero safe-guards (even though all 4 villains...doc ock, goblin, sandman, electro...could have just ganged up on him)...and not even sending Aunt May away for safety Just In Case...to each their own.
@@ramboraph4life He was pretty reckless in Homecoming especially when it came to hiding his secret identity, Far From Home had Peter give the EDITH glasses to a man he barely knows all because he wanted to ask MJ out and enjoy his vacation instead of being Spider-Man. He also almost killed his friends and classmates on the bus in that movie when he unleashed a drone attack. Atleast in NWH, he was trying to do the right thing and Aunt May was in on the plan to cure the villains as well.

I admit i expected Peter parker to go on the run , being hunted . Everyone knew he was Spider-man and all they did was move home lol This film is just endless cameos like a Disney marvel show . The plot is all over the place , Into spiderverse did this story 10x better . Film was above average at best , fans need to stop saying greatest ( insert new marvel film ) ever. The MCU is reaching Fast n Furious levels …
That would have been a better movie if Spider-man was being hunted. But when you have a shitty director that thinks he's John Hughes and 2 sitcom writers, you get a movie like this.
Sympathetic six 😂👍 even though I liked this movie, it’s not without its problems. I agree, I hate how doctor strange was handled, I thought sandman’s motivation to be a villain was weak, and the lizard could’ve been used a little bit more. I always hated the iron spider suit, and the last scene with aunt Mae could’ve been handled better. RAGE!
14:42 - I literally don't care about any of the new characters in this MCU Spider-Boy world. Aunt May was used as a sex object (which is just weird when you think about it), so therefore her death didn't do anything for me. Ned and Michelle (not real MJ) were in the way and annoying. Tom himself is just a wuss... If anything, seeing the old villains return and then the small glimpses (yes glimpses) of Tobey and Andrew made me wish we could just see the sequels to those films instead, at least those were worth a damn. So sad how bad Marvel has treated Spidey, knowing that Sony was better off.. the irony.
As a fan I absolutely adored this film. I haven't watched all of this review yet but I can tell from the opening few minutes that this is a good review and u gave valid points as to why you didn't enjoy it so much.
@@martykeno5613 ramboraph4life man 🤣 seriously tho I've disagreed with this guy so many times but he makes great videos and doesn't give a fuck if he's in the minority and I really respect that.
*Spoiler* Granted I did not expect they’d kill Aunt May. I felt they closed some stories well also. I thought it was overall a fine film. Oh, and 2099 will be in the next Spider-Man / Spiderverse film.
You know what the ending of this movie was? It was proof that people like you and I were RIGHT! They just retconned the hell out of Spider-Man because we were right, he was Iron Man Jr, also known as Spider-Boy. From now on, he will be more like the Spider-Man we all know. But it's too late for that because they messed up. P.s. RAGE.
They actually have 3 trilogies planned this was the conclusion of the first one the next one will be his collage years then lastly the adult years. So we are going to get a truck load more Spiderman and Spiderman spin off films.
@@boomstickcritique902 At the very least, I'm glad that the annoying high school years are over. Thanks to that GED study guide he had at the end. It's kind of strange to think of Peter Parker as a high school drop out, but it makes sense since he's already pretty smart with no need for high school. Ps. I appreciate both your comments, some insightful tidbits with them.
I'm surprised you enjoyed Malignant. For some reason, I felt you could have ranted about the film. Honestly, when I saw the film, I didn't hate it, although I thought the tone of the movie was rather uneven due to the cheesy 80s vibe and the rushed horror aspects. My guess is my hopes where just a little too high and yours on the other hand were somehow low. Maybe if I watch Malignant for the second time, I'd enjoy it than I sorta did before. Even I hated it, I'm cool if you enjoyed it. Anyway, I wonder how you managed to enjoy it. Just saying. ☺
It has stylish direction, a solid score, and the 80s vibe actually works with it...and it's quite original. There's not many 'giallo slashers blended with Basket Case/Frank Henenlotter' type of films. The finale was insane and fun, with gory kills and 'John Wick with a Knife' insanity.
I enjoyed the movie, but I always love your brutal honesty Matt. I had a feeling you weren't going to enjoy a lot of the direction they took with the story of this movie not to mention all the dumb humor in the beginning. I've seen this movie a few times already and outside of Holland and Dafoe's performances it really does have some major problems. Doctor Strange was really neutered in this and acting completely out of character and Doc Ock definitely deserved better. I liked seeing Tobey, Andrew and Tom all interact though even though none of them really got a chance to shine in the finale outside of a couple of moments with Andrew. Zendaya and Ned were in the way a lot too and I still don't get how someone actually came up with Ned all of a sudden using magic as if nobody was going to question it. I really don't think you needed 5 villains in this movie in the first place, but it is what it is I guess. I even think Jamie Foxx was better as Electro in TASM 2, but so many people seem to think otherwise because they hate that movie. I use to not be a fan of them either, but damn are those TASM movies underrated IMO.
RAGE. I can definitely respect your opinion. I haven't seen the last bunch of Spider-Man movies. Everyone seems to be saying this recent movie is really good. I don't always agree with popular opinions. So hearing yours does bring a lot into question. From what you have said it does come off as kinda goofy for a Spider-Man movie. I might still check it out but I won't be expecting all the good cheer everyone else is putting on this movie. Peace, and keep being real!
Movie is a shit show lol don’t believe the Disney mcu sheep. It’s only good if you turn off your brain but even then some of the decisions are mindblowingly terrible, they even managed to retcon the previous Spider-Man franchises so when you go back and watch them the villain deaths mean nothing now…
This movie was ok. But now that I think about it, Tom Holland's Peter Parker is the dumbest character ever. He's been dumb in all 3 movies. Is every character in the MCU a dumbass? I gotta say I like the Sam Raimi and Marc Webb spider man movies better than this Disney crap. The writers are sitcom guys, that should tell you enough right there. They make Peter Tony Stark's sidekick ( because that's a great role model). And even Aunt Mae is an idiot. I hated Ned and I hate MJ. But the biggest character assassination was Dr. Strange. You were 100% right about this movie. Great for nostalgia but not a great movie. Probably the worst version of Spider-Man on the big screen.
I'm watching this movie again and they wrote Aunt May as a complete idiot. This is what you call character assassination. Total disrespect for these characters. Stan Lee and Steve Ditko are rolling in their graves.
I did like this film but I hated what they did to Dr Strange. I liked seeing the other previous Spiderman again (Andrew had a cool scene that brought some nice closure for his character) and I liked some parts of the score (same guy who's doing the Batman score btw).
RAGE. Wrote my comment before finishing the review, but I was planning on watching the whole video. So glad someone else saw all kinds of flaws in the movie that I did. The movie isn't all that great. It has it's moments, but it's nothing special. I gave it a 4 or 5 out of 10. One or two points for having good moments and another point or two for being better than Black Widow and Eternals. Then maybe throwing in another point because I wasn't all that bored while watching. Sure, I didn't like a lot of stuff, but I was never bored. But the movie wasn't all that special. Masterpiece is going a little too far to sum up/describe the movie. Hopefully in a few years everyone will "wake up" and realize the movie is mediocre at best. All the movie is is Nostalgia The Movie: Spider-Man Edition.
Homie, THIS shit right herrr....that's why I subscribed to ya buddy. Kudos to you my friend. 100% agree. Can we tackle the absolute train wreck that is endgame next. Yo Adriennnnnnn!!!
I did like No Way Home but also enjoyed your rant haha. Positives... Alfred Molina still does a good job, Willem Dafoe I thought was a highlight & I think is a little bit better here with performance. More threatening. I do like Tom Holland as Spider-Man, it was nice to see Tobey and Garfield in there. Some good moments between the three but I would have liked to have seen more of them together, the action is fine. But (getting to negatives) Spider-Man able to outwit Doctor Strange in the magic world, a lot of the other villains are badly written or wasted. Things that got me like what?! Peter bringing the villains back to the apartment I'm like wtf. The stuff with Peter not getting into college, I agree wasn't needed why was this a plot point? Just a lot of things throughout this film makes Peter look like an idiot. I thought the same thing by the end when the villains got cured.. we're they sent back to their death? What happened to them? Then by the end we're going to reset everything now Spider-Man is coming into his own. Maybe I'll do a video more about this but overall I still liked the film. Great rant!
If you gave 9 year old me crayons and paper, and told me to write a Spider-Man movie, this is what I’d produce. The MCU is the worst thing to ever happen to cinema. These movies are the bottom of the barrel.
@@Ratchet299 I'd be down for Tobey and Andrew in their own Sonyverse movie, it be interesting. I'm just glad they gave Andrew his TASM2 suit; which screams Ultimate Spider-Man. Tobey's uniform is basically Ditko's rendition mixed in with Romita Sr
@@Ratchet299 To each their own, my issue with the Garfield movies was bad writing and the special effects were too digital. Raimi's camera style worked better. There's not on scene in the Garfield movies that rival the train sequence. Garfield and Stone's chemistry is the only good thing about the TASM movies.
@@millabasset1710 I agree about the train sequence being superior to anything else thus far, but that’s in *spite* of its effects, not because, IMO. The Raimi movies are great and my favorite of the three iterations by far, but the CGI for me hasn’t aged well. Raimi’s Spider-Man’s movement looks very fluid, smooth, and graceful too much of the time. He moves sort of like a jellyfish. You don’t get those signature quick “snaps” where he changes direction and orientation on a dime. If you re-visit the films you may notice what I’m talking about.
Great rant, Matt. There was a scene montage where Thugs and Shakers ruff up Aunt May and that was the reason Spidey does what he does. Tom's brother Harry would have had his first role as "Shaker Kid", all three of them would have gone into MIT. Peter Parker probably did make that call too. His reason now is he can't go to MIT? They should have kept all that it in. The movie was 150 minutes not including end credits and post-credit scene. it was all reshoots. The film would been way better with these stuff left in. More Matt Murdock (a court room scene where he is Peter's Defense Attorney) and other stuff... but alas it was all reshoots.
@@wiinterflowers4277 sadly. I bought the new blu-ray. They promissed us it would either be uncut or extended... but no. No deleted scenes on it, either unfortunately. Its just the theatrical 150 minute cut from the theatres, with no added and altered scenes at all. And finally, no commentaries. SONY promissed us it would include ALL scenes that were cut, but they pulled them from the blu ray at the last minute. Good job SONY👏. What special features we do get, are cool... but it is a disappointing buy😒
Its okay if you do not enjoy the film man your not one of those people forcing people to like a film i hate when people do that everyone is different at the end of the day.
Going off from the title of the video, I don't plan to watch the rest of this from my bias of Spider-Man, but to me this film has given me closure in a way I didn't think I needed. It fixed a lot of criticisms I had about the various Spider-Man films and also gave me closure on stuff in my personal life. The film isn't perfect and I know it's harping on the now "remember this!" trope but for Spider-Man I don't care. I feel like this film was a love letter to the character and an apology for the mistakes made in previous Spider-Man films. Again I won't be seeing the rest of this video, wanted to address my bias, and say that I'm sorry you didn't like this film but I respect you and your opinions. Keep doing your thing man and don't hold back!
It really puts everything into perspective over these past 10 years, maybe even longer. Sony screwed up with meddling in Spider-Man 3 too much; Spider-Man 4 is cancelled even though the previous two movies were box office titans for their time. Sony rebooted Spider-Man in 2012, this was when the Avengers kicked everything off, the MCU would go on to have it's peak from Avengers to Infinity War, yet Sony still thought another solo Spider-Man movie was gonna make them a billion dollars? Sony tried to rush their own little Sinister Six project in 2014. It's interesting to go back in the 2010s and see how the MCU was both a good and bad thing for cinema.
I enjoyed the movie, but there was things I didn't like about it. The humour at the beginning was terrible at times, electro, sandman and lizard were wasted and some logic issues in the story but it did work for me overall on an emotional level because of the acting from the three spiderman actors and the way it ended Holland's journey in the mcu was powerful stuff in my opinion but good job on the video Matt!
I don't think you do reviews to be different I think you just do them for fun I don't think you hate newer movies or certain movies just to hate them. You just have your own personal taste like everyone else does for me when I judge a movie I try to factor in my personal taste and feelings along with the film's overall quality I like to take films for what I feel like they are. I think they gave Andrew more shine because I believe Sony is interested in bringing him back in some capacity.
I saw it recently and I was pissed off. I didn't pay for this movie (obviously). Me and my brother ranted on this dog shit and made a whole list of what I was thinking while watching this STD. It's safe to say that Tom's spiderman Will probably always be dog shit. This was one of the most lazily written marvel movies I've seen. Let's be real, people only cared about Tobey and Andrew.
I like the first two but not this one. It ruined the legacy of Raimi's Spidey villains. They looked goofy and out of place. They should've not involved them.
Why is it that your haters think you hate everything despite all the videos you have? Sonic the Hedgehog The Hitman's Bodyguard and Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard Wrath of Man Want me to go on? Many more I can list. What's your defense now haters? Come on I want to hear what you have to say now regarding Matt hating everything? Go on all ears? What that? Nothing, then move along y'all.
I love this film 🙂 I'm also going to enjoy watching your rant, Lol 🙂 I do love this film but to each their own, that's cool. The comedy I thought was Good especially with the 3 Spidermen from each Universe and their banter. Also an interesting take on what they do with the villains by giving them a second chance, an William Defoe, never change man, never change, Lol 🙂 He was hilarious as the green goblin as he was in the first Spiderman film with just being totally over the top an overacting. I like Doc Oc, Alfred is a great actor an the image of the 3 Spidermen together swinging on the webs an such was frickin awesome. The visual was cool.
"an interesting take on what they do with the villains by giving them a second chance"...but how do you know that for certain? We never see what happens to any of them afterwards/when they go home. They could go back and in 5 seconds or 50 seconds get killed off...and thus it would be all pointless. There was no actual Pay-Off.
@@ramboraph4life I just liked the fact that Spiderman at least tried, he tried to help the villains to give them a second chance because people do deserve a second chance in Life, it shows the kindness that was in Spidermans heart. Compassion an kindness is the mark of a true hero in Life 🙂
@@ramboraph4life Yeah. I agree. This movie feels like nastalgoa bait. Ive already seen these characters do thier thing. Also Im burnt out with superhero movies. I just cant right now.
This film is left alone boring without going nostalgic factor and hitting hard to those call it a great film. The idea was not new take a look at tas Spiderman clone wars or server wars or introduce madam web or better yet Spiderman shatter dimentions. Great film I think not.
It hit me while I was watching the movie why I don’t care for any of these three films - there’s no Uncle Ben. I’m not in love with the character, but the real Spider Man learns and grows into who he is because of the lessons and death of Uncle Ben. This guy never heard the “great power and responsibility” quote until MAY says it in THIS MOVIE. Tony Stark is his hero not Uncle Ben.
I think Tobey Maguire was the better Peter Parker Andrew Garfield was the better Spiderman Tom Holland had the potential to be the Best of Both Worlds but the writing he got makes him the worst of Both Worlds
No need for the disclaimer. If everyone out there didn't spoil the guest appearances, then perhaps I would have been surprised and appreciated it more. I only enjoyed the goblin throwing tom Holland into the sealing straight into the coolest EVER double leg takedown through the floors. After that..... tumble weed......... 🦗 🦗 🦗........ Movie was over rated and spoiled by exited fanboys who just wanted to say "I told you !!!!" Then, to have Tom Holland SM whoop Geen Goblin??? No chance!!!
So what? He is also someone who, in this time line, this is the Sixth Movie he is in. He has been in the Infinity War. He has fought against Thanos. It's one thing to make 1 or 2 mistakes...but this guy makes so many mistakes that it's just insulting. He literally invited 4 villains into His Home, where his Aunt May lives. He didn't get his Aunt May anywhere safe... he had Zero Precautions...these Four Villains could have easily over-took him and ganged up on him. That's one of the most naive and dumb things any spider-man has done. And this is AFTER the Uncle Ben stuff (briefly brought up between him and Tony Stark in Civil War, just without naming Ben) and going through his Sixth Film now.
@@ramboraph4life Aunt May was already alone with Norman ALL DAY. They didn't know what would happen. He could have killed her anytime. She works with spiderman in that universe.
Hey Matt I'm with you on this one. I didn't pay to see this in theaters. I listened to the negative reviews/rants didn't buy into the bs hype. There's shaky cam, wasted potential. The story is like a video game convoluted. Peter (Tom) makes bad stupid decisions. Sandman and Lizzard are wasted with nothing to do. It's overly stuffed. I never was a fan of Tom Holland's Spider Man films. I like his acting and proformance but I hate his version of "Spider Man" aka Iron Boy/Iorn Man 2.0 Iron Spider. He doesn't feel genuine as his own character just following in Tony Stark's footsteps unlike Andrew Garfield and Tobey's version who earned everything they have and struggled way more than Tom.
The most annoying Spiderman version out there, cant even shut shut his mouth during Dr strange spell incantations smh, just bubbling mouth teenager. Not spiderman I grew up and love.
Yo Rambo have u played Spiderman on PS4 .It's good its like a movie to me that's the best Spider Man movie it's like the comics it's has action that's what I want in a Spiderman movie
Ive seen that for Ghostbusters after life. I couldnt believe that movie was essentally a repeat of the first movie, rigjt down to the original song.
Yah, but this movie does "fan service" great 👍
And the thing is, marvel realised this right after infinity war. So now we got endgame and no way home..
Marvel finally realised that good storytelling was never their biggest money maker.

Exactly. You match my sentiments. Stay up and God bless.
But it took 3 movies to do that...
"with great power comes no responsibility."
And destroys his mask for no reason
There's one issue in the plot but nobody talked about it before: Why the other villians (Raimi's Venom, the two Harry Osborns and Rhino) didn't respond to the spell ?
They did but remember Dr.Strange said he managed to close it before many of them came through ....
idk, I would've loved to seen Rhino, but they probably didn't bring back Topher's Venom because nobody likes him, TASM2's Goblin is less iconic than Dafoe's Goblin and is usually an afterthought, and lets be real, there no way they were gonna bring back James Franco.

16:49 my favorite part of this review
Strange doing the spell in the first place was really stupid of him.
Extremely uncharacteristic of him. He is known to be a extremely conservative risk taker. And to risk the reality of his timeline for a mere college admissions is INSANE!
I rewatch this once a month, you have a gift man.
Thank you.
Another one of those Marvel movies where you come out of the theater feeling like you enjoyed it, but the more you think about it afterwards the worse and worse it gets. The writing is honestly very stupid and fan service is the only thing that makes this movie good. I am so tired of Tom Holland Spider-man.
Yup. The only reason I watched it was for Tobey and Andrew and even then, they felt pretty off for me.
I always liked Andrews performance in TASM2, but the writing and the plot was the main problem with that movie.
Why couldn’t dr strange the the spell in the beginning of the movie that he did at the end?
Thanks for talking sense idk what everyone talking about "masterpiece"
They're literally calling it "the best Marvel movie ever"...until the next marvel movie comes out 😆
I remember that Matt was giving those movies a chance, the Marvel movies to be clearer, but after Avengers Endgame, after what they did with the Incredible Hulk image, which should have been a respected duty in theaters, here it came movies or generic or bad and those that we watch and then forget about.
I loved the movie, but It's great to hear your thoughts about it
32:22 There is in the comics.
Matt. Lizard/Connors IS one of Spider-Man top caliber villains since the 60's. Don't you remember cartoons and McFarlane's comics?
He is David Icke's favourite Spidey villian.
That’s why I don’t like Lizard and Carnage being done dirty!
That would've been a better ending!!!!
@@boomstickcritique902 if that what you said why cap waiting on bench at the end of endgame? Isn't he goes back to alternate timeline?
@@boboboy8189 The filmmakers said the idea is that Cap found some way in his own new timeline to jump back over eventually into that original timeline that he came from. It was left non-explained because the movie was already overlong and they figured no one would care by then so they didn't bother to explain it because they wanted to give Cap a heartfelt send-off. In other words, it's just a standard pothole in the movie because the movie was already stuffed but they wanted the scene anyway because it was so well executed they didn't want to give it up.
All no way home did was a massive F U to to the efforts of the previous spidermans

I knew this movie would expose Tom Holland’s Spider-Boy. Bringing in better actors undercuts the “main” Spider-Man.
I thought the film just felt awkward. There were some good moments but as a whole I didn't think it was a good movie.
I actually cringed quite a bit. Especially when all of the villains were conversing when they got initially captured. The banter was VERY awkward. It's like the director told them to just talk about whatever & they printed it instantly.

So sad how bad Marvel has treated Spidey, knowing that Sony was better off.. the irony.

I mean it's what you would expect from Sony and the Disney-fied version of Spider-Man at this point
It’s only good if you turn off your brain but even then some of the decisions are mindblowingly terrible, they even managed to retcon the previous Spider-Man franchises so when you go back and watch them the villain deaths mean nothing now…
Matt imitating Ned's mom 🤣
I was waiting for this
I saw clips on RUclips when Tom as Spider Man fights Doc Oc .Tobey's version has a better fight scene with Doc Oc
They will be rebooting the Spiderman franchise again and again until the ending of time.
Well yeah, it's been happening for 60 years. These characters are timeless. I don't find them all that interesting personally but whatever.
I did like this film but I hated what they did to Dr Strange. I liked seeing the other previous Spiderman again (Andrew had a cool scene that brought some nice closure for his character) and I liked some parts of the score (same guy who's doing the Batman score btw).
RAGE! Subscribed. nice video !
Yo Adriennnnnnn!!!
for a movie like endgame to have half a billion dollar budget it didn't deliver in the action sequences
38:00 same thing with Rhys Ifans
@@millabasset1710 I thought the Garfield’s movies had the best effects and choreography out of the 3 by a mile.
56:16 "masterpiece"
That got cut out?!?!
@@PlanetMars2030 I didn't bother buying the "extended cut." I'll stick with the bluray I got.
There plenty of technical schools beyond MIT. I think peter parker should been aware of that.
some might disagree, but if they wanted spider-man villains that knew peter was s-m, i wanted to see topher grace's venom. he fits the bill
I also agree with your rant RR.
These movies aren’t made for the comic fans
They use to be but now especially from Marvel they're not anymore
11:00 Standing "O" on that. I cannot disagree.
Spider man into the SPiderverse was pretty good
@1:03:57 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The first two Maguire films and the first two Holland films are my favorite live-action Spider-Man films. The others were meh or bad in my opinion.
Why is it that your haters think you hate everything despite all the videos you have? Like, do they even see your reviews for the John Wick movies, Joker, The Suicide Squad, Malignant, Searching, Blade Runner 2049 and such or for some reason only see your rants? >.>
Oh yeah haters. Matt hates everything. Well, let me list you a bunch of modern films he's enjoyed on top of the ones I listed above.
Ant-Man
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Crawl
Guardians of the Galaxy 1 & 2
Deadpool
Doctor Strange
Edge of Tomorrow
Into the Spider-Verse
Joker
Kong: Skull Island
Only the Brave
Shazam!
Sonic the Hedgehog
The Hitman's Bodyguard and Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard
Wrath of Man
Want me to go on? Many more I can list.
What's your defense now haters? Come on I want to hear what you have to say now regarding Matt hating everything? Go on all ears? What that? Nothing, then move along y'all.
Freaking rage, man.
I love this film 🙂 I'm also going to enjoy watching your rant, Lol 🙂
I do love this film but to each their own, that's cool.
The comedy I thought was Good especially with the 3
Spidermen from each Universe and their banter.
They had a scene where Peter ate some rice. That was Uncle Ben's cameo.
Which one
It's now called Ben's Original.
RAGE! This was a great movie though
Spot on with Dr. Strange critique.
I think Tobey Maguire was the better Peter Parker
Andrew Garfield was the better Spiderman
Tom Holland had the potential to be the Best of Both Worlds but the writing he got makes him the worst of Both Worlds
Damn right
people still say this?
@@TheEmperorRaidou Yes
Bots attacking this comment section. Majority of people say this movie sucks
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE MORBIUS REVIEW
No need for the disclaimer. If everyone out there didn't spoil the guest appearances, then perhaps I would have been surprised and appreciated it more.
I only enjoyed the goblin throwing tom Holland into the sealing straight into the coolest EVER double leg takedown through the floors.
After that..... tumble weed......... 🦗 🦗 🦗........
Movie was over rated and spoiled by exited fanboys who just wanted to say "I told you !!!!"
Then, to have Tom Holland SM whoop Geen Goblin??? No chance!!!
electro in the movie was entirely different then in the comics
i agree i always f*cking hated that they made him a mini iron man with his suit! like wtf was the damn point of him being spiderman. 🤦♀️
He a teenager
So ?
For the record Peter is 22 in No Way Home, so he's not a kid in the movie
This film was Spider-Man: Return of the Sympathetic SHIT
Yeah, I feel the same about the Iron spider. Its not spider man, but more of the machine doing the work. Total turn off.
Bro,he is not Iron Boy Jr anymore.Go watch NWH.
The most annoying Spiderman version out there, cant even shut shut his mouth during Dr strange spell incantations smh, just bubbling mouth teenager. Not spiderman I grew up and love.
@@TMNmedia You know that Spider-Man is actually annoying in the comics, right.
A little down fall of the sinister 5 mine sister 6 would be electro, green goblin , carnage , doc ock , King pin , kraven that would be interesting 🤔
Yo Rambo have u played Spiderman on PS4 .It's good its like a movie to me that's the best Spider Man movie it's like the comics it's has action that's what I want in a Spiderman movie
I haven't played that one. Maybe one day I'll pick it up.
@@ramboraph4life I Disagree I loved Spider-Man: No Way Home.
