    The fuel tank for the refrigerator unit caught the curb on the bridge. And the king pin on her fifth wheel held like a champion. Lucky gal.

      If you look the back of the trailer was wedge in the side of the bridge. That kept the trailer from going over any further. Thank God the kingpin and fifth wheel held.

      Praise God she is ok. That pick up truck driver is in BIG TROUBLE! We went over the bridge shortly before this happened. These drivers weaving in and out of traffic can cause so many accidents! They should never be able to drive again! Praise God she was safe and I hope and pray any others involved in the accident on that bridge are safe. I hope they press charges on the pickup driver. I was so angry people blaming her and saying she won’t have a job after her boss hears about this! I hope her boss gives her paid time off to get her ducks in a row! She will be living with PTSD for the rest of her life and believe me that is horrible to live with! All you people who were downgrading her should be ashamed of yourselves!!! Making fun of her saying she was talking and texting on the phone! I am sure she was calling her loved ones and the fire department was also talking with her. Thank God that man kept talking to her and trying to keep her calm. I can’t imagine what was going through her mind that poor lady! But PRAISE OUR WONDERFUL SAVIOR and the RESCUE AND FIRE DEPT. For bringing her back to safety! I am sure once she stepped foot on the ground someone gave her their phone for her to call her loved ones to say she is going to hospital but she is ok! I hope people who think they are funny talking trash learn a lesson. Some day it maybe them!!! God Bless you all that were keeping her calm and helping her to safety!

In fact, it was reported that very night that she wasn't at fault and she was the one who was hit. There was a stalled vehicle and another driver who swerved to avoid that hit her. This was reported the next day.

The first hit on the tower knocked his hardhat off, the second knocked him out. When he came to, he was looking down and believed he was in free fall. Lots of cuts, bruises and said he went in his pants when he woke up. Quit his job and never climbed a tower again.

      It's very likely that if the residents didn't tolerate the interstate being turned into a toll road, this accident wouldn't have happened. This bridge was built in 1929, the era when a Ford Model A was a large car. It's not built for vehicles of this size, but that's what the public policy is pushing people to do. News reporters are too obedient to state leaders, but that's the kind of tough questions that should be asked in public.

You're ideology seems flawed, do you have colored hair?

      Real hard hitting journalism would turn away from the flashing lights and ask why these vehicles weren't on I-65 instead of a nearly 100 year old bridge built in the Model T era - Because someone decided to turn I-65 into a toll road. Who calls out no bid contracts to a political donors? That's the usual path for how these things arrive, but yeah, praise the firemen and police when people are killed in traffic because they can't afford the safe roads. Two Americas... Truckers need to learn to never swerve for any reason, 15 yrs I never did, hit 2 cars in full on panic braking but never turn the wheel. And call it what it is a crash, that was 100% avoidable if all the drivers were paying attention.

    • @joshuarichardson3612
      @joshuarichardson3612 5 месяцев назад +10

      Not always the case of swerving. If you hit hard enough on the steer axle it will be the same as a steer blowout. Usually truck pulls in the direction of the impact. Plenty of videos here where four wheelers hit semi trucks so hard it literally knock them off the road. Plus the witness literally said a pick up swerving hit the semi after already causing an accident. Trucker can’t help what other stupid people do.

    • @mnoble247
      @mnoble247 5 месяцев назад +2

      No it's not 100% avoidable 100% of the time. What information do you have that the rest of don't that allows you to make such a conclusion?

      She was hit head on probably going normal bridge speed as it was the pu's direction of traffic that was stopped for a stalled EV😑.
      You drive. I've driven. We've both been there. We both know what's on the road today. I agree about if it's inevitable lock it straight but twice, If I hadn't swerved, both times would've been fatal. One for me and one for him. It's never stop steering that ultimately can save you. And always knowing what's around at all times.
      They need to go back to manual transmissions. That'll at least increase the IQ level of being able to drive a truck.

    From the front view it is pretty incredible that the rig stayed hung up with that much hanging over. It’s difficult to see how. Then I saw it when they showed the brief view on the bridge the very back upper corner of the trailer is wedged underneath the steel truss going up at an angle. Looks like a very tiny bit of trailer against the truss is pinned there from the weight of the part hanging over the side pivoting on the middle of the trailer. Would have liked to see how the heck they pulled that rig up and out.

    • @noblejackson5229
      @noblejackson5229 5 месяцев назад +5

      I am glad that you also perceived what prevented the truck from going on over into the water. I caught that while watching the on-bridge view of the video. The door portal and both side rails evidently made strong allies to withstand that much gravity. Everyone seems to be amazed at either the kingpin or fifth wheel jaws for holding the tractor, but there is one other thing to consider. Credit is also due to the structural integrity of Volvo's cab strength and construction, not to mention the role that the cab mounts played in preventing a separation from the frame rails.

Not that you'd ever acknowledge that, as it would let you peep outside your warm Believers' Bubble into the reality which in fact we all live in. So "lucky" is correct as it acknowledges the statistical odds of the driver's survival.
