And wrote. Many kids who grew up in the Bayside/Whitestone area of Queens in 1959 heard about Sedaka because of my never ending talk and my playing his music. It's amazing how an 11year old could recognize the talent. Glad he is back to classical as well!. I still follow Neil's career .
If this man is half as sincere as he appears.... he's one remarkable human being. Grateful for his talent, wonderful to his fans and seems like an all around nice guy. He is immortalized and not many of us can claim this. I knew he was a great piano player but I had no idea he also played complex classical music. Amazing talent.
Does anyone remember "The Diary" which was Neil's first solo hit in 1959 (I think)? I was eleven years old. I immediately developed a mad crush on Neil and, with a kid's optimism, wrote my first fan letter. I lived in Queens, Ny and Neil lived in Brooklyn. I want everyone to know that he wrote back to me and a correspondence started that lasted for the next two years. My dad drove me into Brooklyn to visit him once but I was too embarrassed to go in. So, I never got to meet him but we spok
Shari How I'd like to look into that little book the one that holds the lock and key. LOVE that one among so many. "You Mean Everything to Me" is one of my absolute fave's and hauntingly beautiful. How wonderful you spoke with Neil in letters, I hope you kept them. Wonderful memories. I can't believe you didn't take the opportunity to meet him. I'd be kicking my own butt till this day lol :o)
I play guitar with his songs.. He is just a master in music.. compositor , singer, pianist. Greetings from Arica, Chile
What a treasure of combining the classic with today’s or yesterday’s lyrics makes for great tunes to dance to and form a path of ❤️🕯💙🕊©

Oh I love that song! But it's kinda sad you didn't meet him.
Neil has not been really appreciated in the US. I don't understand this.
What are you talking about? He had several number ones, and many top 20 hits here
