Oregon and OSU brought in a lot of talent. But, their players are having to learn an entirely new system, new team structure, and new philosophies. The only player that stands out is the Caleb Downs kid from Alabama. I think he'll transition fine. Oregon's Lanning is a great up and coming coach. But, he's not an elite coach at the moment. They'll struggle against good coaching staffs. Deboer put Lanning and the ducks down twice last year and Oregon was the better team in both matchups. That's a red flag to me to pump the brakes on Oregon. OSU's Ryan Day is basically the same. Day is 1-3 vs Michigan, 0-3 vs the SEC, 1-6 vs CFP Top 5. Lanning is at least and up and coming product that needs development. Day has been in the seat since 2018. This will be an experiment for Oregon and OSU to see if they can just 'out-talent' teams with better coaches than they have.

Former PAC 12 teams are not prepared for BIG10 defenses in my opinion. They’ve been exclusively offensive heavy for years. We saw that in the national championship. Michigan’s defense pretty much prevented any major play from developing for Washington. Most of Michigan’s defense is back, and OSU arguably has even better. I think it’s gunna take a couple seasons for the former PAC12 to really contend.

Unpopular take but I don’t think the teams changing conferences are going to be that good, they come from vastly inferior conferences and while yes Oregon and Texas have beat Ohio st and Bama before it’s completely different playing in a difficult conference week in and week out, and you saw thay from those teams, when Texas almost beat Bama 2 years ago, they went and lost a couple games in the B12 and same when Oregon beat Ohio st 4 years ago. It’s on thing to beat the best and a completely other thing being the best consistently each game. I think they will both make the playoffs as 3-4 loss teams though

  • @1876Oregon

I disagree with the Ohio State quarterback, being an upgrade. You would have to compare the Kansas State transfer to what McCord would be in 2024 at Ohio State, and then compare them. That’s why I think McCord would be better in 2024 at Ohio State then first year quarterback transfer from Kansas State to Ohio State. Quarterback is actually downgraded. And I still think it’s a neutral move if you compare the two from 2023.
