    Good insights! Yeah, I've had similar issues with high-end chips in premium laptops. I use a small desk fan for my Precision Workstation.

    85 bucks for RAM upgrade on windows laptop? How dare you man?! You must pay atleast $400 for a ram upgrade and do it the Apple way. Courage!

      Ugh I WISH I could have spent more on the RAM but this was the most expensive I could find. Definitely need to get a Macbook next time!
      Thanks for watching!

    Love this video. Looking at getting this laptop. Also, what’s the temp of the beer?

      I recommend both the computer and the Guinness! The computer comes pretty got but contrary to popular belief, they recommend about 43 degrees F for the beer. 🍺

    What about the build quality been lately while you use , Is there any major screen flex or hinge related problems ?

    Im getting the ROG strix G16 and its a 2023 variant. I want to ask if you have any thoughts regarding it? It has the same specs but i think it has a better CPU than the Ryzen 9 7940hs (according to userbenchmark), but less recent and cheaper. I have aldo observed in Jarodd's tech that the Strix G16 has better frames due to less energy restrictions (cuz strix g16 is bigger than the zephyrus g14). What are your thoughts?

    • @DevonDoesTech
      @DevonDoesTech  Месяц назад

      Been a long while since I played with anything in the Strix lineup, haven't owned any but if they are holding up to the quality this Zephyrus is, I wouldn't hesitate to get one. Definitely would hope thermals are a bit better on a bigger laptop, also that they've been improving that over time so hopefully not an issue for you. Can't wait to hear about it when you get it though!

    How would the RTX 3050 variant perform though, I'm not that of a geek about GPUs, can you help me with that!?
    I really want to buy a portable gaming laptop and I really don't feel like getting anything with 16 inch of screen, but options like the HP Omen 16 are just so tempting at times, cause firstly they have good thermals and secondly they also provide a better value as they are more cost efficient while also giving an RTX 4060, but yeah I wouldn't necessarily want to pick a bigger laptop unless I had no options left.
    I've been doing my research over laptops for quite a while now, but the only problem I come across is the fact that there aren't many options for a *portable* gaming laptop, and all that I'm left with are some options like the Zephyrus G14 (2023) with Ryzen 7 7735HS paired with RTX 3050 or the other variant with RTX 4050 paired with Ryzen 9 7940HS. I'm really confused as to what should I choose.
    Moreover I'm concerned about the thermals, is it better for me to get the very base variant with 3050 (knowing that the 14" form factor won't be able to utilize any powerful GPU like the 4060, and would basically be thermal throttled) or should I, with a heavy heart, just go for the big HP Omen which would have better specs also with better thermals. (I REALLY DONT WANT A BIG LAPTOP THO 😢)
    Haha there's always some compromise with whatever option I choose.
    Are the thermals really that bad? would it be manageable ?

    • @DevonDoesTech
      @DevonDoesTech  Месяц назад +1

      The 3050 unfortunately will perform significantly worse than the 6800s or the 4050. That being said, drawing so much less power should mean significantly less thermal issues as well.
      Also with the 4000 series a huge push was made for more efficiency so I wouldn't worry as much about thermals with that but I have not used the laptop so I can't confirm this. As for this laptop, if you're planning on actually using it on your lap, gaming with the built in keyboard, it could get too hot, but for using on a desk with external mouse and keyboard it wasn't a huge issue.

      @@DevonDoesTech Yess obviously I’d game while keeping it on a desk and probably with a keyboard and a mouse connected to the laptop, so maybe 4050 would be a better pick!?
      How worse would the 3050 perform though if you could brief me a little bit about it. Thank you so much!!

      This is the site I usually go off of for a general overview of power. If those are the two machines you're looking at, hopefully someone has done that comparison on RUclips already! But UserBenchMark is showing an overall 71% better performance from the 4050 over the 3050.

    The reason those laptop coolers don't really work is because the bottom of the laptop is a forced air duct system. The little bit of pressure the fans in the external cooler create is negligible. Now... get some duct tape and a turbine, and you might have better luck. 😂 The external laptop coolers work best on older styles of laptops with large vented botroms that don't rely so heavily on there being a seal between the laptop fan and the bottom cover of the laptop.
