when I first went to VN I bought a carbine from a guy that was leaving for 10.00 as he couldn't take it home,, I carried it instead of my M 16 , it was lighter and easy to shoot and held more shells.. but after about 5 months they came down with the orders," no more personal weapons" one guy had a grease gun, one had a snub nosed .38 one had a P 38 another had a cut down M 2 but, we all had to give up our personal weapons, I'd have liked to bring the carbine home but there was no way.

Thanks for sharing. I would have loved to take some of those guns home. Before 1968 all those were legal!

Well, you did a good job on the vid. You asked about the stock, soooo, the early carbine is a "highwood' stock. As this part of the stock is thin, it was known to crack and break off...so they started making the stocks cut down like the later one. The top part...hand guard... was also a sensitive piece with only 2 rivets, and was replaced with a 4 rivet guard in late war. Hope this helps, yell back with any questions. I appreciate the video.

candrsenal.com has them for sale. They’re pretty pricy.
