    Great video! Would Kickstarter be a good avenue for a custom fabricator / motorcycle mechanic to help raise funds to get into a physical shop location?

      Potentially! It's more used for pre-selling physical consumer products but depending on what your funding goal is, it may be a good route for you.

    • @launchboom_official
      @launchboom_official  7 месяцев назад +1

      Sure! Probably the one that is most proven would be building an organic social following. Now, I don't think it's that easy to do and typically takes a lot of time, but there's lots of examples of people doing this. For example, a creator we recently worked with spent a lot of time building a social following (www.youtube.com/@Nomads.Nation)

    How long should the kickstarter campaign run for after launching? Is there a best practice for number of days?

    • @launchboom_official
      @launchboom_official  6 месяцев назад

      I recommend 30 days. The beginning and end of the campaign is when typically the most funding / day comes in, so 30 days is a nice middle ground where a large percentage of the campaign happens within the first and last week.

    Hi Mark. My product (a high-end LED gaming desk) is expensive, and I don’t have a big budget for advertising. Should I take the risk of getting a loan to reach those “elite” customers who might be interested? I have some doubts about the risks, especially since the shipping costs will be high due to the size and weight of the desk. Besides, I have tested tiktok and received great feedback from people, specially young ones (18-30 years old). Do you have any recommendations for me? great video, thank you.

    Hi! Just a bit of confusion about one thing you said, can you clarify? - "photorealistic renderings are not allowed on Kickstarter". I have done campaigns that have mockups in the past as it's our way to show dimensions and specifics of the product. However, we still have the main video with the real product and photos with the real product. But, we do have photorealistic renderings as well. So can you explain a little bit more what you meant by, "they are not allowed" because they are from my experience haha. Thank you so much! Only in the first few mins of the video and so much great stuff!

    • @launchboom_official

      You can limit the sales by making all the rewards “unavailable” on the campaign once you reach your goal. There isn’t a delivery date limit but most ship within 1 year

    Really compelling content, thank you. I'm a complete noob with Kickstarter and I have a couple of questions. When one pledge a sum of money do Kickstarter add on top local sales tax or VAT? Also, it is my understanding that Kickstarter acts as a financial/marketing service, so the collected money should not be considered as US based income unless one run their business in the US. Is it this assumption correct?
    In other words, for a business located in the EU with no established presence in the US, the collected money using the services provided by Kickstarter are not deemed as taxable income in the US? Thank you.

    • @DennisBabych-o4h
      @DennisBabych-o4h Месяц назад

      Thank you for your kind words! 😊 Let me address your questions about Kickstarter:
      Sales Tax or VAT on Pledges:
      Kickstarter does not add VAT or sales tax directly to pledges. However, project creators can choose to include these costs in their reward pricing or handle them separately, depending on their business's tax obligations. If you're in the EU, you'll need to consider VAT for your backers, especially since digital platforms often require compliance with local tax laws.
      Taxable Income in the US:
      You're correct that Kickstarter acts as a financial/marketing service and doesn't determine tax liability. For a business based in the EU with no physical or tax presence in the US, the funds collected via Kickstarter are typically not considered US-based taxable income. However, the income may be taxable in your home country according to your local laws.
      Important Note: Kickstarter will issue a Form 1099-K for US-based creators who meet certain thresholds, but as an EU-based creator, this wouldn’t apply to you unless you have a US-based business entity.
      Since tax laws can be complex, I highly recommend consulting a tax professional familiar with cross-border crowdfunding to ensure compliance with both EU and US regulations.
      Let me know if you have more questions-I’d be happy to help!

    • @AccidentalScience
      @AccidentalScience Месяц назад

      @DennisBabych-o4h thank you very much for your thorough and complete response. While I have experience in transforming ideas into products, I don't have much for launching a campaign with these platforms. But as far as I have understood you provide this kind of service. It would be interesting to know a ballpark idea of the required budget. Maybe it's a hint for a video 🙂.
      About the VAT it is disappointing to hear that Kickstarter doesn't offer any facility to fulfill this obligation.
      Cheers, Claudio.

    • @launchboom_official
      @launchboom_official  2 месяца назад +1

      First off, I don't have experience crowdfunding a short film so take my answer with a grain of salt.
      The essence of the steps I went over can apply to any category, but the tactics may look a bit different. For example, you'll want to have a pre-launch following, but I'm not sure if Meta ads is the best traffic source.
      At the end of the day, what I'm teaching in this video is this:
      - Know who your audience is
      - Build a pre-launch following
      - Get your campaign marketing assets created
      - Get funded quickly
      - Follow up on that momentum with continued marketing

    • @launchboom_official
      @launchboom_official  2 месяца назад

      There are campaigns that spend that spend that much and more but it is definitely not a requirement. Just depends on what your financial goal is. If it’s to raise multiple 6 or 7 figures, you’ll have to spend quite a bit on marketing

    • @launchboom_official
      @launchboom_official  5 месяцев назад +2

      I hear you haha some first-time creators spend tens of thousands launching their products, but many don't.
      It really depends on what the goals of your campaign are.
      For example, if you have a $10K goal, then spending $25K doesn't make sense. But if your goal is $250K, spending that much (or likely more) not only makes sense, but is necessary.
