A musician with super fans is a cult leader now? Bill's getting real weird as he ages, with this ridiculous take. Maybe we should be MORE concerned with a cult leader who is running for the highest elected office in the U.S., in hopes of changing the laws of the land to fit the agenda of their few fringe followers. I'd say that's more impactful than Taylor Swift. Bill brings too much feeling and too little reason to his shows these days. It's very disappointing because I used to like watching him. I bring myself to still watch his shows only for the people he interviews, and when I'm interested, but because of discussions like this one, I'm liking that less, too.
Her fans go beyond super fandom and the modern internet/parasocial relationships enable a different kind of cult these days. Her followers eat whatever she poops out, they often harass people, are willing to twist into circles to defend her bad behavior, and will spend their whole paycheck to see her mid concert. It's unsettling that she doesn't need to command them to do anything, kinda like Trump's stochasticism but obviously with less consequence

I don’t know about that… You really think fans would just take that at face value, and not think she’s lost her mind? That it wouldn’t hurt her popularity? I just can’t imagine there are enough people who would blindly follow her to result in her flipping the election.
Also this is not the only artist in history to have a “cult” following - that phrase in and of itself being hyperbole. The only reason certain people are concerned is because it’s women, the majority of which already share the same views on the things that are important to most…women.
