      Iam Egyptian and I want to explain something since I see this comment alot.
      You're right to find the crowd unbearable but the reason our crowd is that why is because most aren't really fans of the sport, they came just to support their friends/family
      Also another thing is that despite how dominant Egyptians are at Squash the fanbase for this sport is pretty new, so the culture of just supporting the game and interacting with an incredible play by a non-egyptian player doesn't exist yet I think it could take some time because people here aren't used to watching Squash or Tennis.
      And I'm sorry for anyone who's experience was spoiled by our crowd's behaviour

    • @mohamedaabobakr1179
      @mohamedaabobakr1179 2 года назад

      Actually I just wanna comment on a certain part which is the crowd, and what I’m gonna say is a continuation of what was mentioned in the comment above me.
      As a one who attended this tournament I gotta say there’s always applause for the other nationalities, and there’s always an interaction with any nice rally or a play, and u can feel and experience that especially when you’re attending it yourself among the crowd, and that was even noticed a lot in the tournament which was held in the pyramids area. but that doesn’t negate what was mentioned in the comment above me about the crowd, the family and the friends and the fan base of this sport, I just see it as a normal thing,
      just imagine ur son is the one who’s playing which player you’re gonna applause the most for? The opponent of ur son? Hahah , but of course against ur well if u saw an incredible rally, a specific play or acting of sportsmanship as what happened in this tournament a lot, you’d applause and cheer!! ,
      I hope you all always have an amazing experience watching the championships in Egypt and watching those amazing athletes, and most importantly seeing all of you personally enjoying ur time here in Egypt one day soon 😄🇪🇬❤️

    For example, can you imagine Shabana, Ashour or Farag criticising and mocking their opponent's coach after a match?
    And this is why Elshorbagy will never be on the same level as Shabana, Ashour or Farag - because he's never had their class.

      I agree with you 100% about the article. But I don't think Shabana, Ashour or Farag would have responded like Elshorbagy did, because they've got class.
      I think you can see this with Asal and Farag in this match. Farag didn't rise to Asal's tactics, he stayed calm and focused on his squash. And afterwards, he was very respectful about his opponent, and even while he said he would have preferred more free flowing squash, he didn't make it an insult about Asal. I don’t see much problem with the portion of the game presented in the highlights. With most of the incidents that Coll appeared angry about, he initiated his movement in the incorrect direction as Shorbagy delayed his stroke slightly then hit a very accurate shot, or positioned himself to cover a portion of the court that Shorbagy chose not to hit to, and had to run around. The ref. seemed to agree, and Coll, despite his anger, didn’t ask for a review. (Or lost the review).

    Great that El Shorbagy isn't ready to lie down and sink into decline. Being dethroned from the top spot is inevitable in competitive sports eventually, but writing articles that seem to rub their diminishing dominance in an ex champions face is bound to be met with a strong reaction.
