One of the issues in the past with the blur reduction modes is due to the way they operate the back-light it appears dimmer (strobing the light reduces brightness). With this monitor being brighter than most does the back-light have enough extra brightness to overcome this brightness issue apparent on other monitors? I love CRT monitors and want to return to the days of blur free gaming but I dont want it to be so dim that its unplayable in a lit room. I would love your take on this, the blur reduction feature is the most important thing on my bucket list and this monitor is showing promise. Great review by the way!
Nice video i'll probably buy this monitor soon. Can you please share with us your Calibration settings for color adjustment ? thanks a lot.
Had to send this monitor back, as their not being truthful about what it can do. Even with the DP cable, the monitor will not go to 144hz at it's 2540-1440 resolution. On top of this, if you wish to phone Benq, it's a premium phone number to tech support.
I just picked one up, thanks for the review
confused why you are calling this 4k, its not 3840x2160, although its 4x 720p, but thats not what most consider true 4k. (but nice review nevertheless)
techfreshness Sorry, it was just a typo (uploaded it at 3AM and use a 4K UHD monitor as my primary so it was an unfortunate mix-up in the title) and should have said WQHD of which I have now fixed. If you watch the review, it is referenced properly throughout as a WQHD resolution. Thanks for catching my mistake!
ah yeah! all good brother, i was just like whoa sweet, a 4k 144hz monitor review! ha. then i was like wait a min
youre right, sorry. i'm not sure why i typed that! i just meant that that res is generally what people are referring to when they talk about 4k with computers. and this def not a 4k monitor
Calibration settings?
plz
I used to have that left handed DeathAdder too ;)
What's the best speaker system that will work with this beast???
i ended up getting the Aoc 27 in 144hz gaming moniter fron newegg it was on a Sale for 299$ i couldnt pass it up
what GPU are you using?
was there a pc down under the desk ?
How did you dial down the backlight ?
What should i pick - G-sync 1080p monitor Acer Predator XB270HA -
or 1440p nonGsync BenQ XL2730Z
im new to pc so i dont actually know what to pick - i have i7 6700k and Msi 980ti i need solid 60 fps but what monitor should i pick and it has to be 27Inc Monitor too ... please do help maybe you know much more then me
+Ley Ko ur new to pc? better ask someone personally bro
lol get a 1440p monitor
Can you get 144hz using the DVI-D cable as well or only display port?
+Benito Ketchum DVI-DL and DP are able to handle the 1440p + 144Hz
Weird. I have the same keyboard, same mouse, play left handed, and just ordered this monitor. Over a year later is it still going?
What video card are you going to use with it? i've depended getting a 1440p but I wanted to get a rx480 and I'm not sure how it'll handle 1440p
Dual 1080's. I know, overkill. I just cancelled the order and I'm going with the asus pg279q due to NVidia gpu's.
you can downscale it to 1080p which will make it look blurrier, but you can set a mode where you have black space. Can always play windowed too.
the thing is that this monitor will last a long time so your next build will run 1440p better than your current one. Also I prefer the blur reduction over freesync anyway so you can still run nvidia GPUs on it, but the next flagship AMD cards will run 1440p fine I think.
what mouse and keyboard are you using? :)
What better this one or Asus PG278Q or Something different ?
Asus PG278Q is a gamble with their problems...
Calibration settings.... please
what gpu do you have? i have a gtx 970 can i support this res?
+007wii Yes, you can use 2560x1440 res with a gtx 970
+legioN how much fps do you get?
I liked your video tho helpful review
Left hand OKL;? This is some next level weird.
How is it with Console gaming?
Most likely this will be a PC Gaming and Console monitor.
You'd be wasting money if you bought this for only console. Consoles right now can only output 1080p @ 60Hz while this monitor is capable of 1440p @ 144Hz
I'm getting it just for that reason, however unless you're getting the new Playstation Neo or Xbox Scorpio. You could probably just stick to 1080p.
No G sync so how ?
washed colors ?
what happens in a game if u run at 144 hz and u usually have over 160 but then drop to 120 125 100 fps?
if u drop to 100 fps will it give u 100 hz, 125 fps, 125 hz the more u lose fps under 144? please lmk ty
+Simply The Best If you set your panel to 144Hz, it doesn't matter how many fps you have.. Even if you have 30 fps, you monitor still run at 144Hz.
Hey man, I have this monitor and I have a GeFore GTX 970 and I am trying to get 144hz and its not working.
+Coltc8 ... Hz has nothing to do with the FPS. You can still have 144Hz even if you don't have 144 FPS.
@Krayzi How did you connect the monitor to your graphics card ? You need DVI-DL or DP for 2560x1440 and 144Hz, HDMI 2.0 is not able to handle this high amount of bitrate
i am getting a GTX 1070 and i cant really decide between 1080p and 1440p, i am currently on 1600x900 resolution so dont know how FHD OR QHD looks like ,
is 1070 really enough for 1440p because witcher 3 gives like 40-50 fps on 2k with 1070..
It's all subjective. You could always lower the in game settings or lower resolution to 1080p, but enjoy 2K on your non-gaming desktop. One big advantage of 2K is the monitor will handle your future GPU upgrades for years to come.
Alternatively, Samsung's C27FG70 is only 1080P, but has more vibrant colours thanks to quantum dot tech, and being a VA panel it has wider viewing angles and deeper blacks, it also has a curve (if that's something you like), but you do miss out on resolution, so you may be better off getting the 24" version to avoid pixels, and the picture will suffer from small artifacts in some scenarios.
Finally there's IPS like the Acer XF270HU, which is 2K, it has the IPS colours which pop, the best viewing angles, better blacks than the BenQ, but not as good as the Samsung, but a slower 4ms response time, and will suffer white bleed.
thank you
Nosferatu 2k is 2048x1080, not 1920x1080...learn your shit
guys i need help, ive had this monitor since june, and now since late december the image is unclear and it flickers and shakes a little bit... it also looks like there would be stripes going through it. when i connect it to my ps3 (1080p 60hz) it doesnt have any of these problems. the problem is not in my gpu or dp cable either, is the problem in my monitor or somewhere else in my pc?
RMA it?
if i buy gtx980ti,,then is this this monitor gonna be able to do free sync ? if not then suggest me a 27'' g sync 1440 p monitor with 144hz refresh rate plz
+NS Promio Nvidia cards cant benefit from freesync. The monitor will work fine other ways but freesync.
What is the difference between xl2720z vs xl2730z? Ty guys
TwD_TV 2720 is 1080p while 2730 is 1440p, so you get a higher resolution on the 2730.
Higher number = better
Noob here..This will work on consoles X box one PS4?
Mathias Volpe Hi Mathias, technically this monitor would work though the consoles won't output to the native 1440P resolution of this monitor so it not ideal. Due to this, I'd recommend checking out their RL2755HM (amzn.to/1djNBSm) as it is designed with console gamers in mind and is actually the official monitor for MLG and UMG console events. Just keep in mind most monitors that people use for gaming won't include built-in sound so you'll need to plug in speakers or a headset/headphones. Hope this helps!
TheTechReviewer.com Thanks a lot ! Really helps just placed the order! Appreciate it!
Of course, we are here to help :). Glad I could be of assistance and I know you'll enjoy that model!
Can u use this for ps4
Tony Tiltmatic Stroud you don't need a 144hz monitor for console gaming.
Does it have integrated speakers?
No
Just bought this monitor, why is my 144hz setting not showing, I do have windows 10.
+alex martineau You need to set-up your Monitor with a DP or DVI-DL cable. HDMI can't handle 1440p + 144Hz!
+alex martineau are you using the display port?
is the xl27390z freesync? or gsync?
Basar Temur Freesync
Basar Temur freesync
So. This one or the ASUS MG278Q? same specs.
This one 100%
Why?
Justin Murray I bought this monitor. I find it had a nasty yellow tint and had a dead pixel so i returned it saved up for a PG279Q.
Nice monitor, hard for me to justify €850+ considering I'm looking at getting 3 cheapish monitors and one 27" 1440P 144Hz {hard get a reasonable monitor with those specs despite recent advancement in GPUs more than capable & somewhat obliged to run at that level}
Roll on Black-Friday.
Justin Murray True. But since i'm running 2x gtx 980 Ti's i had to have one with Gsync instead of freesync, which would be a waste to use with Nvidia cards and vice versa.
Which GPU do you have?
KayEmR The machine used for testing this monitor was running a GTX 780 Ti.
which ya won't be able to use free-sync though. has to be AMD
+Nicholas A. what if i use gtx980ti??
you can. just won't be able to use anything with FreeSync. That's all. NS Promio
Nicholas A. suggest me a same spec monitor like this with #G_sync plz plz
for a person who work with photoshop and design aplicacions, is bad, average, good, excelent??, and for movies ???
+Diego Núñez Martínez Bad, its a TN panel. You better get a IPS Panel, because the color accuracy is a lot more ... accurate. If you still want high performance gaming, look for the Acer XB270HU/XB271HU or Asus RoG Swift PG279Q - IPS Panel with 144Hz.
addicTix the 2 monitor had g-sync, i need freesync
Diego Núñez Martínez wait for the EIZO FORIS FS2735 . its ips, free sync, 144hz etc.
addicTix thx u, ill read about that
addicTix about the monitor FS2735 vs XL2730Z, on gameplay and movie, any diference forgeting all about cloud, smartphones and speakers?
you use your left hand to mouse!?!?! da fuq lol so wierrrrrdddd
Left hander. And judging by the comments, he doesn't replies to his viewers. Dick move.
