I sat down with Rou Reynolds from Enter Shikari to talk about the reaction to The Spark, surviving a break up, overcoming his health issues, his phenomenal dance moves, playing stadiums and arenas, his undying love for the fans, upcoming collaborations and whats in store for the future.

Bumped into Rou in a pub in St Albans a few years back, honestly the most down to earth guy you could meet, i have shikari lyrics tatted on my arm and he was so thankful to me for that and shook my hand, I couldn’t believe the artist was thankful to ME for something HE wrote, stood with us for a good 15/20 minutes talking, top bloke!

January of 2018 when they were playing in NYC my friends and i found a bar across the street from the venue. It was blistering cold so we wanted to just get inside in the warmth before the doors opened to the venue. We sat at the bar. Got some drinks. Ordered some food. And my friends girlfriend got up to go to the bathroom and she was like OMG THATS THEM! ENTER SHIKARI IS RIGHT THERE! Rob, chris, rory, and most of the crew were at a couple of tables finishing up their food. We didnt even realize they were there cause they were kinda behind us and the bar is right as you walk in. We debated on if we should ask for a picture but we felt like assholes if we interrupted their meals. So we didnt ask but then rou walks in and my friend gets his attention as he walks by and we talk to him for a minute or 2. After that he walks over to their table and theyre all getting ready to leave. I get up to go to the bathroom before we leave and theyre about to walk out and rob says to me "nice shirt" because i was wearing the TTTS shirt i got the year before when they played in nyc also for the 10 year anniversary tour of TTTS. He shook my hand and they went on their way. Thats a moment i will never forget. The absolute most random timing to catch your favorite band in a bar before a show in like 2 hours. I honestly wish i could have gotten a picture with them or just been able to ask them questions and talk to them cause theyre all so genuine and nice. Ill also never forget the first time i saw them live for the vans warped tour in my state in 2014. The same friend i was with in nyc and another friend of mine were covering their songs when we had a band together. I have guitar and bass covers on my channel. At their merch tent rory and rou were there and we talked to them for 15 minutes and learned a lot about them and who wrote what and what was used to make certain synths. It was amazing. And i got a picture with rou. So far since that first time in 2014 i have seen them every year when they come to the US. 5 years in a row. 4 years in NYC. Saw them this year for their quick stop the clocks US tour. Couldnt make it to the brooklyn show that was filmed. But i was at the other Brooklyn show. Im in the picture from that show with rory being being held up by the crowd. It was my girlfriend's first time seeing them live and she likes then so much more now because she sees the passion and energy they have for their shows. And she loves the meanings behind the songs and how theyre written. She has Stop The Clocks stuck in her head all the time now. lol. Im never going to miss a show when they come! I dont care if im in a coma. Better wake me the fuck up so i can make the damn show! Lol. Love these guys so much!

Its always so nice to see an interview where the person asking the questions actually lets the person talk, and doesn't always interrupt. Nice work :)

It's one of my pet peeves. I've been guilty of it once or twice - when I'm being rushed to get the interview done as fast as possible, but when you know you have time with someone, you should ALWAYS let them say their piece. Thank you for the kind words!

Half the music you listen to probably has some sort of political message in it that you're unaware of. I get not wanting to hear a 10 minute political rant in the middle of a set or something like that, but saying politics have no place in music doesn't make any sense.
