    "Unsolved Mysteries" did a really strong segment on Huey Long. It was truly well done. The controversy about the shooting is the possibility that the doctor never shot at all, but Long's security team overreacted and actually shot him accidentally. That recreation is one of the best they ever did.

      I saw the same one and it became very evident that Huey was a real asshole personality wise. Had to wonder if he wasn't so 'accidentally' shot by his... 'minders'.
      He was clearly eccentrically egotistical and incapable of having a reasonable conversation with virtually anyone that didn't agree with his somewhat extreme visions.

      It is evident to anybody w/ a brain or anything resembling one for that matter that Long was more than likely:
      1.) Either killed by the guards, who at that point were “compromised” by his enemies.
      2.) Weiss was a patsy and was setup (like Lee Oswald) to “take Long out,” only for the guards to either immediately “silence” Weiss or not even have Weiss shoot at all, but be present to pin the blame on while the guards did the deed!
      The evidence is *sort offffff* there. 🙄 Think about it, why else would a man who had just been under attack run away from HIS OWN GUARDS!! Then upon arriving at the hospital, staff could have also been “compromised” and it was all a wrap from there.

    With today's amazing forensics, I wonder why they don't exhume Huey (he is buried on the grounds of the state capitol) and Dr. Weiss' bodies and try to determine which caliber slugs they were each shot with, the angles of trajectory of same, etc. In other words, work it as a major crime scene today would be worked .. They even still have one bullet hole (slug?) preserved in the marble of the building the shooting took place in (IIRC, this hole is from the bullet of one of Long's bodyguards upon shooting at Weiss). Seems they should be able from all that (plus supposedly the Belgian semi-auto that Weiss had on him at the time, assuming it has been preserved as well) determine just who shot whom.

    • @jake8855
      @jake8855 Год назад +1

      Not necessarily. By now the remains of both are bones and maybe not even much of that. I don't know if the rounds were buried with the bodies or not. But of they weren't, they would probably have a hard time using forensics to determine who shot Long.
