      Theres a better way with one solar panel since the other one was used to let the blocker know when its dark you could sub that for a branch on the one solar panel. IE just branch out the solar input to the blocker and the rest of the power to the battery then battery to blocker blocker to lights.

    • @mrsmith160
      @mrsmith160 3 года назад

      You can also beef up this system adding multiple small batteries with combiners and splitters. 1 solar panel split between 2 batteries then combined will output 20 power instead of 10 but this system is only good for automatic for night time as all day usage the baterries will surge from inconsistent power input. No good for high powered devices but you could make a system to turn your furnaces on at night to make you look active whilst offline using the igniters or pop skinned targets up in your shooting floor lol.

    • @MrKeysersoze1981
      @MrKeysersoze1981 9 месяцев назад

      you have to run it into a second battery then root combine the two batteries. Its better than wasting 18 electricity potentially. Especially early game using solar panels. Branch will only send a minimum of 2 power. If you try to cheat and send 19 off branch side it wont work because solar panel doesn't always receive 20 power @@interestssnoopy103

    You should probably use another branch to take the minimum power from the censor solar panel into the blocker, then have the rest going to another root combiner to put the leftover charge into the battery. I know it doesn’t matter much for this example since you used a small battery and have lots of charge going in, but for a more practical medium/large battery base you don’t need to waste so much charge for the blocker passthrough.

    Correction: People use KiloWatthours not Kilowatts per hour. Power (Watts) is a measure of energy per time (Specifically J/s), and hours are a time, so a kwhr is essentially 3.6MJ (Mega Joules)
    Rust uses rWm (RustWattminutes, not per minute) which is also a measure of energy. A rust minute is 60 rust joules.

    Misterflak, show the old charging circuit, that way you don't pay the tax of charging batteries and lose power unessersarily. It's made of two branches, a blocker & an OR switch. The the branch will take the set amount of power and pass it straight to the OR switch avoiding the battery if there's enough power, if theres spare power the power goes to the second branch where the branch out is set to lowest (2) and the power out will charge the battery, therefore you only lose 20% of the spare power. If the power generated isn't enough the blocker will unblock the battery and the battery takes over.

    the rusticians disagree with you about the north facing placement of the solar panels
    according to them the sun you see ingame has little to do with the sun that is generating power at your panels. The theory is that the current generating invisible sun is moving east to west along a line going exactly through the middle of the island. that said I have build a very similar circut for my lights and it worked perfectly for quite some time, but after the last minor update about the installed keylocks instantly locking when placed it doesn't hoid for the night anymore. Wether this is a bug or another mechanic that hasn't been explore is yet to be determined.

    @Mister Flak Very cool idea to get the light on and off at the right times with the walls. im pretty good with electricity already but one question i have is how come it will not let you split the power from a power source to two seperate batteries? ive tried with all power sources, with splitter and with branch.

    • @sheabrown

      I want to help with this but I'm not quite sure about the problem. It works just fine for me running a power source into two separate batteries with a splitter.

      @@MisterFlak when i connect windmill to splitter it connects fine but when i run the splitter to a battery it lets you click luke ita going t9 xonnect then just disappears.

    Does the sun go over the center line of the map from east to west? If you are in the bottom half of the map you get a consistent 20rWm if you face solar panels north. However if you are in the top half of the map you get 20rWm if you face south.

    • @MisterFlak
      @MisterFlak  4 года назад +1

      It never goes across the centre so it either goes over towards South or north depending on location on map

    Why not use a branch power from the original panels to trigger the blocker?

    • @MisterFlak

      Cos this was a simple way to teach beginners how to use stuff that wasn't designed for a purpose to do other things. I didn't want to complicate things by splitting power nunbers

    For the autolight i think theres a better (cheaper) way. Instead using an extra Solar Panel, i would just put an Electrical branch between the root combiner and the battery. Connect the branch output to the blocker outputing 1 rWm, and the other to the battery.
    This will make that, if any of the solar panel is receiving sun, the branch will send 1 watt to blocker, therfore blocking the electricity to light, and when sun goes down then light will lihht up. This will save you 1 tech trash and roof space

    Instead of the half wall technique, I prefer to use a branch. The branch side simply dumps power while the power out side goes to the blocker.
    This way you can fine tune exactly when you want your lights to turn on or off by adjusting the branch.....though I realize you're currently doing a beginner video.

      Solar panels > root combiner > branch.
      Branch out > nowhere (dumped power)
      Power out > block
      The more power you dump (increase branch) the sooner you're lights will turn on and longer they'll stay on.
      The inverse applies when decreasing dumped power.
      I've been using this since they first introduced electricity. I hated that it got so dark before the lights kicked on, so I tweaked things.
      I'm currently using an inverted version of that (blocker off during the day, on at night) to trigger 12 other separate circuits. Kinda have to when you venture into huge builds and 2600kwatt usage.

    How would we add a heater with a switch to this setup?

    • @MisterFlak
      @MisterFlak  3 года назад

      Id put a branch between the battery and the blocker. I'd branch out 11 power on the left of the branch and on the right of the branch it would go to the blocker for the lights.
      On that 11 that I branched out on the left it would go to a switch and then to a heater.
      A small battery wouldn't work so you'd need to switch all to a medium or large battery
