New to origami. So many instructional videos on RUclips have dreadful lighting, obnoxiously loud music and unclear instructions. This is by far the best instructional video I've found. Looking forward to trying your other projects!

Instead of cutting up the side of the back layer for the head tufts, you can just cut an angle into the side of the back layer and fold it up. You're cutting through 2 layers, but there's not so much waste and the model can still be shaped proportionally.
You can use scissors in origami to make small cuts in order to enhance the overall look of the piece. It is still considered origami. Origami is simply the art of paper folding.

I do really like this tutorial, but I want everyone to realize that it's not origami, but kirigami. Origami is the art of folding paper without doing anything to it or modifying it.

Happypuppytruffles your video was great I made Hedwig from Harry Potter it was very fun to do but I just want to note that if you do origami but you use scissors its kirigami so make sure to call it kirigami next time. I might be a Harry Potter fan but I can still do origami and kirigami. When I showed my owl to them I told them where to find it and they watched your video and they liked it.

does it matter? who made the rules? why do we follow everything to the dot why not fuse and combine things. MAYBE it'll give in for BETTER ideas.. the point is to have fun doing it and to make it into many things there is all kinds of origami that they use other things and it's still a beautiful peace of art,

Alec James I ended up finishing it alright. The person I made it for loved it. But yeah it was really hard to do.
@@c.williams2431 yep, it gave me a mental breakdown and took me 2 hours to actually finish making the diamond shape and 3 more hours in total to finish the rest.

that is why this is origami, origami is called the technique of folding paper without using scissors or glue

There is one new group of origami that only uses square paper with no scissors or glue, but that is a new and special group.

Yes it is origami if you use scissors. Obviously you have never read any of the books written by any of the masters of the craft. Scissors are used for the finishing touches on a lot of complex pieces. It's better not to leave rude remarks on someone's page, but if you insist on it, at least do some research to validate it.
