Wow, this is exactly what Dynamic Island needed! I keep tapping on it, hoping it will do something else. I hope Apple will incorporate some of these features natively in the future.
i’ll defend the dynamic island with my life just for transit apps alone. yes it may be useless most of the time, however i do ride the bus a lot. being able to scroll on my phone while having the dynamic island count down the stops for me until i need to get off is incredible. having it tell me how long of a walk it is till my stop or destination is also great. i can make a good use out of its live activities every day. find ways to enhance it in your daily life, and you wont wanna go back.

There's more integrated personalisation and the dynamic island is incredibly useful: timers, callers, music and audio, weather, travel directions, recording notes, live news updates, payment verification... Creating your own.
I LOVE flighty. I used it for the first time last week and it’s super detailed. Your first flight you get access to Flighty Pro which is awesome, but I don’t think I can justify paying £47.99 yearly for it when I only fly 3/4 times a year 😢

Summary: Even after three months after its release the Dynamic Island is pretty useless. I have the 14 Pro Max and most of the time totally forgot that it’s there.
It is also up to developers to utilize it. It is useful but not something worth upgrading for by itself. Timer, maps and music in the island is the most i have used it for. It takes time for something brand new to be utilized by developers. After 4 years flip and fold are still useless for most and not worth the high cost but some find it useful. Not everything is for everyone

I recently switched from an Android phone to an iPhone. On my Android, I used to enable the Up/Down Speed Indicator, a feature that is available on most Android phones. However, since iOS does not have this feature, I decided to purchase Lock Launcher Pro and enable the Up/Down Speed Indicator. Now, the feature shows me the data speed on the Dynamic Island. Additionally, I added a few apps to the favorites section, so that by holding down on the Dynamic Island, I can quickly access these apps. I also enabled the Health Step Counter feature, so I can stay updated on my daily step count at all times. With these modifications, I made the Dynamic Island much more practical and useful for my everyday needs.
Apple is literally the definition of creating an unnecessary weakness and then converting it into strength. And the dynamic Island is the most impressive example of it so far. Example 1: Removed the headphone jack, made the lighting port a superior outlet for audio output as it does power transfer too. A lot of you might not know this, before the noise cancelling airpods, there were wired noise cancelling earphones, which used to connect to lightning directly. Since they had a higher power output, these headphones didn't need batteries. Example 2 going full e-sim and making it convenient for international travel and removing ports one by one making the phones more water proof. Last but not the least, Example 3: the dynamic Island
E-sim is not about making it more convenient. It is anything but convenient. Reason 1: There are fewer options for E-sim if you ever travel a country outside of the US. Reason 2: E-sim options are usually more expensive. Reason 3: you are less likely to switch to a different device within a jiffy (like old times) because now you have to call your carrier, wait for a bot to put on an actual human, verify that you’re you and then ask them to transfer e-sim to another phone. Doing this vs just taking the Sim out and putting in another device is much more convenient. No wonder people dislike Apple fanboys, I used to be one but damn this is just another reason to lock you in.
I tried the app already but I wish there was an app where you can migrate app notifcations to dynamic island where when you receive a notif, the dynamic island will just go down and show the app notif 😢
Anyone know weather or not there is a possibility to just use the Dynamic Island part of the Lock Launcher app, without the dock thing on your lockscreen?
Really hoping that they can do an AOD but have the time/battery and a few notifications in the island while having the rest of the screen off. I think that would be a much better battery saver but still showing the same info
Defo a gimmick. Sam you love this but hated the Touch Bar. Pretty much the same thing. I’d argue live activities is more useful on your Home Screen notification, rather than the dynamic island

I see the option for shortcuts and set an auto refresh but I can only see a shortcut script for the dock to refresh and not the island? How do you setup a shortcut via the launcher to have it refresh the data on the dynamic island? I have steps and date showing on the dynamic island but after a couple hours it disappears. Probably it's use about the same extra battery like any widget on your lock screen, or in your main menu, they just refreshing once in every sec/every few sec depends on visible data type.
Tried using cpu usage and fps counter but it’s pointless! Can’t use it in games or anything but shitty apps like clock and Home Screen what’s the point?
RIP iPhone SE… even if Apple reuses the XR body, they need to add USB C and the A17 chip. No doubt they would have to charge over £500 for it kinda not making it a “budget” model phone.
Hey, I've been using lock launcher and one thing I am not understanding is why it never shows the refresh rate go below 60hz, especially on static images. Is something wrong with the app? Am I not understanding the pro motion display? I thought for reading content like in the news app or books app it would go down low, like 24hz or 10hz even, but it always says 60hz at the top. Im on the 15 pro now for context. Any help is appreciated, I really do like the app, thanks for showing it to me.
60Hz will be the locked base rate for the iPhone, it won't go any lower, no matter what you're doing. It's not like frame rate where during moments of high power usage (such as running a graphically demanding game) it will fluctuate below the average rate. The minimum you'll get is 60Hz, the maximum you'll get is 120Hz. ProMotion allows the rate to go higher to 120Hz only during moments where it's of any aesthetic benefit - to save battery. Such as when you're scrolling. Else, it'll stay at 60Hz.

Besides, the ONE thing this island *would* vastly improve things; notifications, they didn't bother with? Why???

i think the focus timer is integrated with a pomodoro timer which is a bit different to a normal timer
