Grog, outside at midnight, lying on the ground. Catatonic. Holding his deck in his hands.
using similar letter, he could have been holding something way worse than his deck...
Bob Johnson I’ve been there way too many times, thankfully without any nat20 rolling clerics peeping about
It was bound to happen...
for 2 weeks...
Rest of the party: God dammit Grog!
Void causes Skype to conk out. Totally canon.
It would shit ton more funnier if pike drawed that card the her internet crashs
Pike got swallowed by the Void
Skype IS Pandemonium.
There's a reason we've all taken up Zoom instead.
@@ShawnLevasseur I like Discord better than Zoom.
At the beginning of the campaign he in coma by a intellect devour, at the end campaign in coma by his own hand. Wow
warforged 79 irony at its finest
"I have an Intelligence of 6. I know what I'm doing."
Full circle
@@audoldends6799 I call that character development. Taking control of his own fate.
Ashley's timing is impeccable. Losing internet right as grog gets sucked away, then coming back right as he's apologizing directly to her. How does that even happen.
It's 100% scripted if you haven't figured that out
Yea because they've been scripting this for 8+ years perfectly nonstop technically well over a decade because campaign one had at least 2 extra years on it before they started streaming it to maybe a handful of people before it started to explode in popularity🧍♂️ @muzien87
(just to be clear, its not scripted. its a joke)
You can hear Liam off stage "You DINGUS!" *that iconic Liam laughter*
Timestamp? Someone posted one but it wasn't right - there wasn't any noise from the crew at that point.
@@acelibrarian
I couldn't here the "DINGUS" but you can hear him laughing at 1:53.
Fun fact: Pike's Nat 20 Perception check was the last roll of Campaign 1.
Nope. The last roll was Grog convincing that guy to teach him how to read.
And it was a Nat 20.
Weeb
And the first roll of Campaign two was a nat 20!
Roll critical
If you don't include the one shots.
Vax: (in the afterlife seeing Grog lie catatonic on the ground after pulling from the deck) DINGUS!
Neoko Newman meanwhile: the oneshot takes place
I imagine it like this The Group are doing their own things vex and percy chatting over dinner laughing
scalan talking to his daughter playing music getting
Tray building the next doty stepping back
reveling his work sweat on his brow
Keylth leading her people a raven landing next to her
pike on a wall looking out into the sky in deep thought watching her friend stroll
then a flash of dark aura and grog drops
Vax" with a deep sigh"
here we go again
Vax: I leave for TWO MINUTES!!!
"Percy lost his arm rescuing you!"
"I'm sorry"
"Are you?"
"No"
he really did
You can even hear vax yelling "dingus" from beyond the grave.
Nah, He's in the aether, laughing his ass off.
I like the morbid idea that Grog just keeps pulling cards till he gets "Wish" and brings Vax back, but at that point the entire group has been destroyed or driven apart.
Vindetta the card he drew, ‘void’, doesn’t allow you to draw any more cards
Luckily for the rest of the fabric of reality.
The card doesnt say that at all, what it says is do not draw any more cards as there are cards that make you draw more in the same pull. As for the wish idea... that card was already pulled and no longer in the deck so that could never happen.
The card goes back into the deck after its pulled, so its possible to get the wish card again.
though not stated directly, I think Wish cannot work against the will of a god; it's even stated that greater wishes have a higher chance of failing or not even working. It would have also been better thematically in the story, if Vax's self sacrifice for his sister's life held weight.
Also, only the fool and jester are gone forever, all other cards return to the deck.
5:58 Travis: _w-we'll one-shot it later_
Me after a year: *F-ckin' finally*
“Percy lost an arm!”
@@discard-dead "I'm sorry."
@@discard-dead They never saw those bugbears coming!!!
Any link?
link pls?
The timing of that.
"Sorry guys, sorry Pike..."
"Hello?"
I love how quickly Taliesin hides his arm, like he just immediately reacts to Sam saying he lost it. Taliesin is the epitome of "Yes, and."
and then Marisha touches him and he brings it back. Just like in the one-shot!
It's hilarious til you just think "Aw. He wanted to get Wish so bad for Vax"
noooooooooooooooooooo :(
Wish was out of the deck though
@jack mcenhill Pretty sure Grog would have forgotten. To him he saw multiple good things happen with the cards and that's all he seemed to understand.
No its not. Matt clarified a long time ago that Wish is one of the cards that return to the deck. It also says so in the DMG
The fates would have been a better card
I love Liam screaming from off-set with the crew at 4:34, "DINGUS!!!" and I immediately imagine Vax'ildan, in his new ghostly form, just screaming that at Grog from next to the Raven Queen, shocking her for a moment. She wonders why he would speak so out of turn, sees what he commented on and just goes, "...oh dear..."
Ashley be like "What the Hell?!? I've been gone for 5 minutes!"

@@Speed001 My Enchanted Bunny kills your Blue Eyes White Dragon in attack mode.
That tiny adorable "Hello?"
And now, over a year later... It is canon: Percy *did* lose an arm xD
That was unintentional foreshadowing at its best
Darukii A. Actually, Taliesin and Sam said they spent a good few minutes backstage before the one-shot convincing Matt for it to happen.
I love how, immediately after loosing one of their front line fighters, they loose the only other front line fighter and have to go on a high danger quest with no tank.
They'd have Pike, and Keyleth can tank. They'd be down a caster, but they've gone through dangerous places with a dearth of casters before.
Not even that, Keyleth at this point can just keep on turning indefinitely into Earth Elementals (infinite beast shapes...) and she can also cast from her beast shaped state.
Lvl 20 Circle of the Moon Druids are crazy.
A level 20 druid can tank infinitely, assuming they aren't repeatedly taking more damage than they can wild shape in one turn.
@@mordirit8727
I thought that Keyleth was a Land druid.
@@blue_caduceus592 "Circle of the Moon, BITCH!", as she once yelled when smashing people with her earth elemental form xD
"This is not going to be an earthshattering experience"
*Percy loses an arm, a cleric of the Raven Queen dies, the party finds and kills a Corrupted Empyrean*
I mean... that's pretty blasé for a high level party
I still remember a member of my Party drew that - and the next one went there "Which Card did he draw?"
GM: "You do not know as it disintergrates when triggered"
Player: "I go through the Cards to find out".
Took a few Minutes until the GM has incorporated all the leftover Effects let loose at once.
Except the Deck was never meant to work like that. Drawing a card at random is essential to activating the item, because a) the item is the Deck as a whole and b) the real power of the Deck comes from that randomness.
It wouldn't make sense for each and every card to be activated whenever you happen to look at its face. Accidentally dropping the Deck would be the end of the world, and taking it further, the creator of the Deck could stack the cards as he created them and then play them in order.
his face after Vex threatening to shave his beard...
Like brother like sister.
When they said percy lost a arm it should've flashed back to victor
"Learn from my mistakes"
It's funny... at no point was bugbear mentioned, were they?
The best part was
"alright, anything else to end the evening?"
"I pull another card"
"NOOOOOOO"
Matt: "Let me see what you have."
Travis: "Void."
Laura: "NO!"
Remember, this man is the CEO. God help them.
"Grog fucking dies"
Ashley comes back and says “Hello?” and Taliesin looks around like “God? God, is that you?”
It's fitting that the last card Grog picks is a really bad card.
BiggySn1p3r
Eh. There could be worse.
Now we get a one shot of the adventure to find grog
The last card anybody picks is most likely to be really bad. Because that's exactly the kind of card that would prevent you from picking another. :-)
Josiah Klein I’m pretty sure this was a 13 card deck, so that literally was the worst card available.
@@josiahklein70 would skull be the worse?
The TIMING throughout this clip!
Taliesin: "Roll a natural 20." "Natural 20!"
Taliesin: "Not that one! Not THAT one!" "Void."
...And then the void takes Ashley's internet and Grog's soul.
"...Hello?"
Whose here after watching the one shot to get Grog back?
I just finished it, It was awesome to see VM again, what an ending too, wow:)
Me LMAO
And thus was the arm loss canon.
I'm watching again just for the arm loss.
Just realized Travis has the same shirt as when grog touched the ruby
I love hearing Liam's laugh in the background 4:35
Hahaha, he called Travis a dingus too
DINGUS!!!
Vax is laughing at Grog from beyond the grave
*D I N G U S*
so watchied the animated version first and now the whole pike using her Astra projection is actually just the internet disconnecting irl makes it the best inside joke lmao
Laura being forced into an adventure to save the person she lied to about the deck is a great punishment
"I'm sorry." - Grog
"Are you?" - Percy
"No." - Grog
Funniest thing.
Those two had THE BEST exchanges!
Hes not sorry that Percy lost the arm, but he knows that he should be, so he's sorry about that.
Travis having the horrified regretful look during the exchange elevated it so much.
that bloody timing
It's almost as if he pulled the card out backwards and Pike saw it instead
Grog: sorry pike
*Screen turns on*
Pike: hello?
😂😂😂😂😂😂
That was the best troll move by Travis, I am so glad it turned out the way it did.
Wandering Harlow the thing is that it wasn’t troll. He was hoping to get the wish card for Vax.
Did you see the look on his face when he pulled out the deck? If that wasn't troll I don't know what is. If he really wanted the wish so badly, I bet he'd have asked to draw every card until he got or something bad happened to him.
and it lead to my favorite Episode of Vox Machina to date
"I'm so proud of you" - Talesin in that moment.
The card that Grog pulled was so extremely cursed that it was able to crashed Skype. 😂
A soul must be taken
are we sure Ashley didn't draw the void instead?
Their ISP sure did anyway.
She disappeard when he did, and reaper as he did
“Percy lost his arm!”
*Hides arm behind back*
And thus began... THE SEARCH FOR GROG
It was just as entertaining as I hoped it'd be.
And ended the series in the best way.
Bertram and LievTell OTP
The fact that Matt didn't necessarily have to play out the whole Percy losing an arm thing because Sam said he was making it up, but still did it makes it even more awesome!
hearing the crew ominously laughing in the background still gives me goosebumps..
im not convinced the internet dropping wasnt some quickly yet brilliantly staged bit by Sam and Ashley
The crew is laughing why is the crew laughing. Live by the deck die by the deck.
Maybe subtle nod to community with the arm thing
Weird to realize that without Grog doing this right now, Campaign 3 would have at the bare minimum a completely different team name
Grog pulls the card but Pike is lost to the void. xD
Well think about it this way, if Travis hadnt done this then Bertram Bell likely would never have existed and thus neither would Bells Hells be at thing. Plus it led to 2 pretty fun liveshows so theres that.
5 years and gorg pretty much killed himself
YOU BETTER WATCH OUT
YOU BETTER WATCH OUT
YOU BETTER WATCH OUT
YOU BETTER WATCH OUT
I'm kinda hoping in the season finally and then the search for grog be a movie
The crew laughing in the back had me dying
They held true to their word. We are finally getting the one shot we were promised
Have they already done it or is it gonna be done?
The serendipity of being knocked unconscious (after your internet goes) untill grogs soul is returned (to have your internet restored at that moment as well)... hmmm...
“WHY IS THE CREW LAUGHING?!” ☠️
Thanks so much for posting these videos Mr. Burrow :)
You are most welcome Mr Hopes:)
watching this live had me STRESSED lmfaooo
"Imma yada yada over several weeks of adventure".
just makes me think of michael keaton in batman
YOU WANNA GET NUTS? CMON! Lets get nuts!
5:23 - "Pandemonium is a plane of madness. A great mass of rock riddled with tunnels carved by howling winds; it is cold, noisy and dark with no natural light. Wind quickly extinguishes non-magical open flames such as torches and campfires. It also makes conversation possible only by yelling, and even then only at a maximum distance of ten feet. Most of the plane's inhabitants are creatures who were banished to the planes with no hope of escape, and many of them have been driven mad nby the incessant winds, or forced to take shelter in places where the winds die down until they sound like distant cries of torment." - So yeah it's a Fun Time *Matt*
Somehow I think the Search for Grog will be the Legend of Vox Machina animated movie.
Ashley's internet crashing at that exact moment was the most fucking on brand thing I've ever seen.
Travis: "Sorry guys, sorry Pike."
Ashley: "Hello...?"
timing
The crew laughing off camera is way creepy.....
I know what will be the Vox Machina animated movie when the series is done XDD
This was such a great epilogue for Grog. It's literally perfect for his character. I love the image of the screen shrinking to a red pin point for two seconds and then returning to a group of angry faces.
And so began the quest for grog
“Those bug bears came out of nowhere.”
Wait.... THESE are the members of the Taldorei council?!?!?!
I love how Taliesin tells Travis “not that card.” He knew.
And so passes Grog not with a bang but with a whimper.
Pike went into the void lol
Are you sorry? No
Grog never change
Talesin said not that one...
I love how sam said percy lost an arm and taliesin instantly just went with it
I love how it came back in the followup to this
"Pro Tip: The cards may be dangerous." That's a good realization Grog now that the campaign is over.
4:33 Dingus! I imagine Vax looking out from the other side like “I literally *just* left”
Talisin Jaffe is a force for chaos the likes of which this world has never seen.
My two favourite things about this moment, first is that it is the one card that could have prolonged the campaign. And two, the looks on Matt’s face as he read the card effect; it went from “What does it do” to “Hmm” to “oh no” to “oh my fricken god no!”
Just with other gambling, the house always wins in the end. All those great cards came at a cost.
Travis what did you pull
Travis: *shows card*
Laura: *NOOOOOO*
Final episode of C2 tonight!
the red edit is awesome.
"YEeeeeeeeeesss."
"shit."
So is this why they did "Search For Grog"?
Yes.
@@Celedam Damnit Grog.
It would have been crazy if he actually did pull wish though.
Thank you for having all these put together!!! Much appreciated!
That is the most Grog, ending i could possibly imagine.
Coming back to this clip about a year and a half later, Matt was right. They did spend two weeks in Pandemonium. The Search for Grog and the Search for Bob. Two different one shots, two different weeks.
This single handed make the best double 20 of the history.
We lost two of our party to that card when trying to get our cleric back who had been disintegrated a few sessions prior. Our DM ended up changing the rules so that we could use a wish to get them all back.
I think we wished for everyone how had been in our party to be alive and teleported to us. Funny side effect of that is that we ended up with some very confused NPCs, as well as a PC who had left th e campaign months prior, as anyone who had worked with us was inadvertently included in the wording of the wish 😅
I’m the campaign I am in I got the void. I had to make a deal with the top deity to get out.
"eh, I'm sure it's fine"
LOL
This is the greatest show ever
1:44 is that actual pain in Laura's voice? I think she thought she would loose grog after, what is it, 3 years.
I think she thought the world got swallowed by the void. World destroyed.
