- This is the sequal to the original 50 trains in 15 minutes featuring South Australian Trains.
Version 2 features Victorian trains both mainline freight & Steam Trains.
Pacific National:
Pacific National is Australia's largest private rail freight business. Operating in all states and the Northern Territory, Pacific National is a transport leader, delivering investment, innovation and growth in rail to provide the competitive answer for transport customers. Pacific National is fully owned by the Australian Stock Exchange listed entity Asciano.
QR National:
QR National is the largest rail freight haulage business in Australia by tonnes hauled transporting 260 million tonnes of coal and freight a year. It is the largest transporter of coal in Australia and the world's largest rail transporter of coal from mine to port for export markets.
SCT Logistics:
As Australia's largest private rail freight operator, SCT Logistics offers multi modal flexibility, together with the most efficient rail services in the country whichoffers intermodal services as well as maintaining its van freight handling concept, in addition to developing its own independent rail freight centres.
Genesee and Wyoming Australia:
Genesee and Wyoming Australia is an Australian rail freight operator based in Adelaide, South Australia. It is a 100 percent owned subsidiary of Genesee and Wyoming Inc based in the USA, and was formed in June 2006 to run the South Australian operations of the Australian Railroad Group (ARG) joint venture between Genesee and Wyoming Inc. and Wesfarmers following the dissolving of that joint venture (which also resulted in the Western Australian operations being acquired by QR National which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Queensland Rail).
GWA operates trains on broad (1600 mm), narrow (1067 mm) and standard (1435 mm) gauges throughout South Australia, along with standard gauge freight trains in the Northern Territory for Freightlink as well as into Victoria and southern New South Wales.
Major traffics include grain, steel, gypsum, and minerals over a 5,000 kilometre track network.
Indian Pacific:
Travelling between the Indian and Pacific oceans, this truly is one of the world's great train journeys.
Named after the two great oceans it joins and symbolised by the magnificent wedge-tailed eagle that so often soars above it, the mighty Indian Pacific traverses 4,352km (2,698 miles) between Perth, Adelaide and Sydney.
The Southern Sprit:
The Southern Spirit explores the sights and delights of Australia's southeast.
From Adelaide, Australia's wine capital and gateway to the Outback to the sophisticated southern city of Melbourne for a leisurely journey of up to 5 nights and 6 days to the final destination in sub-tropical Brisbane. Naturally if you'd prefer, the return route from Brisbane to Melbourne or Adelaide is equally impressive.
The Ghan:
The Ghan is a passenger train operating between Adelaide, Alice Springs, and Darwin on the Adelaide-Darwin railway in Australia. Operated by Great Southern Railway and with locomotives provided by Pacific National, the entire journey takes 48 hours to travel the 2,979 kilometres (1,852 miles) and around half that (24 hours) to the mid-point at Alice Springs. The service's name is an abbreviated version of its previous nickname The Afghan Express, unofficially bestowed on the "express passenger" service of the Commonwealth Railways in 1923, by one of its crews - Авто/Мото
Australia seems to have a weird balance between American and British locomotive designs, and I'm all for it
I just love the sight and sounds of the Steamers and the early S,B and A Class locos.
Nice video. I am from the USA and like to watch Australian trains!
Pasajeros y cargas, Diesel y vapor...¡ ah! ,me encanta este video. Muchas gracias.
That first train sounds like someone poured some Fosters in the air horns. Nice footage, though. Love the British-style steam locos with the American style whistles.
Sounds very similar to the 3 trumpet Hurricane horn that was used on Victorian Railways suburban electrics - up to the Hitachis, and the Y and T class locos.
Vintage steam, vintage diesels, vintage horns, and vintage passenger stock, I'm coming to Australia one day to see all this
As always ,great video, Corey ! Thanks ! I was enjoyed by every train and background as well.
I've never before seen an old double ended deisel like the one at 9.25.
double ended dildo?
Yeah the double headed 'Bulldog nose' is the old B class loco with half the fleet refurbished into the A class as you see there.
Loving all the horns in this clip!
8:40
Those ditch lights remind me of the way the SD60E, SD40E, and any of Amtrak's F59PHI's had their ditch lights flash.
Awesome
Great video -Thanks
Beautiful Videos!!
0:04 train sounds like a dying chicken
A rubber chicken, maybe

Good stuff cobber.
Great stuff. Especially the horn show from the G near north shore(?)
Great Video !!!!!
Mike
Victoria was historically Irish broad gauge (1600mm, 5' 3"), however, the Melbourne/Adelaide corridor and connecting branches, plus the Melbourne/Albury corridor, have been converted to standard gauge.
good work mate
Great video. Really enjoyed. 5*
Very nice film.
First train horn sounds so funny
very good
8:15 I was there watching that train go under the bridge!
That was at Hills Road, Batesford
3:38
Now, i can see Australian train
good locos
5:20 the Leslie RS5T! Rare for Americans on the CSX!
Well that's cause Australia and America have a lot of open plains which is why horns have to have power to alert people unlike trains in Europe which don't require it.
Absolutly I've wanted to hear one in person for years
North America & Australia have alot in common about trains.
Well some.
Of course..most of the good stuff comes from Nth America.
7:19
some of these trains sounded like comengs.
Great clips, but I can't get the aspect ratio correct on my tab.
Is the first steam train one filmed in Meredith vic
what type of horn was on the lead engine at 7:21? Its awesome! great video!!
EMDSD14R the Pacific National NR class
Sharon Proctor Thanks but I was actually asking about the type of horn on that particular NR class. Do you know what type of horn it is? Like if its a Nathan or a Leslie type?
sorry don't know
Sharon Proctor Ok thanks!
Kockum Sonics MKT75.
What speed was the sct train doing at the end
Yes, largely thanks to Westinghouse Brake & Signal.
could u do a QLD one
How fast were you going when you were side to side with the SCT?
Lots of American stuff! P5 S5T, etc
What class Steam locomotive is that at 4:00? I'm interested in the class.
Y class, believe it was built in 1898 and currently going through a major overhaul at Steamrail Newport
3:00
15:20-16:01
8:44 that horn sounded like a pacific national G class horn
its a nathan p5
Aman yep
About 90kph
Awesome stuff. Most of the rolling stock looks American made.
It is
Also the horns and crossings and some EMD train models
It really is. Then they make final tweaks
Aiden Teszke
Horns.... Xings (Safetran)
All rollingstock you see in the video is Australia made
Victorian A Class, converted from B Class in the eighties.
I see lots in UK
11th train past the derailment
Why do they beep at you saying gday or warning you
Is it me or do they have the same crossing bells that we do in the US?
KISSFanDan1995 yep. Safetran AU sometimes other times it's US companies like Safetran make them
What is the gauge of the rails there?
In Australia its Broad-gauge, narrow-gauge and standard-gauge
Problem solved, if anyone else has this problem add "yt:stretch=16:9" to your tags.
What is the first loco
The red and white one? That's a 442 class unit.
One more thing, what is the lead engine at 7:44 named, Just curious, cause here in America their named E7's.
Australian built S class Locomotive
That is a Victorian s class
K thanks guys, it has been a while, but I appreciate the replies. I wonder why the names change in Australia. For instance EMD and GE offer exports to some countries, but the same model name used in the US stays. This only applies to some countries. EMD has lately been more open to provide different locos for other countries such as the emd gt46c-ace
+Central Texas Rail/Jet Productions the Reson why is that the VR uses letters to classify loco's
Some of them were not built by EMD like the one with cabs on both ends but they sure look like EMD F and E units. I wish those "bulldog nose" units still ran those in North America. They look amazing. We should buy some from Australia!
Im an American so funny horns!!
Caden Brown 1:24 sounds like Amtrak mixed with a broken metra horn! lol
Y112.
Thst *WIDESCREEN* tho
