Great interview. Eli interviews so well. Makes it fun. I was lucky enough to work with Eli on the Tarantino/Rodriguez project, "Grindhouse". But, I was surprised to see him on set as just an actor. We all knew him as a director. As the movies were made in Austin, there was a big premiere for it, for all who worked on it to attend. They kept all of the fake trailers a secret, as they wanted them to be a big surprise for everyone. When the trailer for "Thanksgiving", everyone applauded it. It was so great, so funny. And when the event was over and a reception was taking place, so many people were telling Eli that he HAD to make that movie for real! And here we are. He actually did it, and make it such a fun, entertaining movie to boot. Do yourself a favor and go see it!
I love the casual naming of obscure or unrelated (to the slasher genre) films when describing what he was influenced by when prepping actors and the team for the film. I've only seen a couple interviews with Roth, and he seems like the most down to earth, pleasant fella with obviously a great knowledge about the history of film. Bigger fan now
Maybe he sees it as too easy 🤷🏻♀️🤔 Thanksgiving was a challenge to make a horror movie out of, but he nailed it. Even if people don't like this movie, it's like "name a better Thanksgiving horror movie, I'll wait" lol

Happy Birthday To Me is another great movie that doesn't get talked about
Great interview with a legend and a lovely interviewer.

Where’s the nudity and sexuality in the movie? It’s a slasher film. is it because it’s not “modern” anymore?
I think he said at point, he wanted to put as much gore as possible and decided to excise the nudity and shit so he could get around the MPAA
Wait…by his cat reasoning, he hates humans? Movies are supposed to reflect your values? What? Isn’t this horror? The movies he mentioned kill animals.
Did hE mention what kind of animal
Blender...sure.....Garbage assured.
