The sad part is that.....every version of Jason after he was kidnap is original one...just made different decisions, the one we fallow we see as original, but he is not, all of them are, that is the point of the box, both are the truth, what ever decision someone makes is the original, just different part taken. All of them are Jasons that were kidnaped from World 1. That is the sad part. Sad story.

The theory of multiverse, is every decision anyone makes make a different universe, it is infinite and forever growing...and it is not big decision , every decision no matter how small. Not just one person every living being , and all of their other versions ...it is like a tree of decisions..but for everyone and everything, not even living thing...what could happen will happen that is the point. If you head starts to hurt you are on the right path.

When Jason 2 threw Ryan 1 in that futuristic world it was night, and the background was lit up in green color and when Jason 1 left Amanda 2 in that perfect world he looks back one final time before entering that box, and we see that whole green Chicago in night again, it looks literally the same as before.

One little bit of dialog from the book that I wished they'd kept was when Jason was explaining to Daneila and Charlie what was going on. First he explains the kidnapping, then he begins to explain the multitude of Jasons saying "this is where it gets weird. Charlie says "GETS weird?".

This is my first time to your channel and I gotta say that I really enjoyed your comparison video here. I haven't read the book but have been quite captivated by the show and genuinely looked forward to each episode. I guess, based on what you've said here, I don't need to read the book as the show has done a better job with the story.
I do hope they decide to do a second season as there are a lot of open plot holes. Where do the Dessen family end up? What's the story going to be with Ryan 1 and Amanda 2? Where will Blair 2 end up now she's decided she's ready to go back into the box? Will we get to see more of Leighton 1 travelling? What did actually eventually happen to Leighton 2?
This is quite a complex story with potentially a crazy amount of multiples of the various characters running around that have ventured into that box. I just hope that if they do a season 2, they don't mess it up and it holds the same quality that the first season has.

I could see a season 2 where each episode follows a different world or character, not connected to eachother. For example 1 episode depicting what all the Jasons are doing in that universe. Maybe some could create a company together? a club of Jasons? Would some or all of them stay in contact or even stick together? Would they disperse all over the world? Maybe leaving a message to all new arrivals explaining what happened so they have the opportunity to either stay or give a shot to another universe?

I can understand why Blake Crouch expanded his book for the possibility of further seasons. The same applies to the so-called loose ends with Blair Caplan, Leighton Vance and Detective Jamie Mason which will be picked up in the second season, should Apple TV decide to give it another season. I read the book when it first came out so I was perfectly fine with the TV show as most of the intricate plot details were slightly sketchy to me. What I DO remember is liking the book immensely. The show was just as much fun, but perhaps a little too drawn out. Nevertheless, it was one of the best TV shows of this year.

maybe since ryan was dumped into that world first, he probably sat beside the box contemplating on what to do and around the same time after the sun had risen, he sees jason1 and amanda2 come out of the box, starts following them, unsure which jason version that is, then later on decides to work up the courage to approach amanda2 without jason being around, thinking she might have some answers for him
then we see the scene, amanda's friend mightve been like "uhh there's a creepy man staring at u" so she looks back realizes its ryan, he comes over, she asks "do u know me?" unsure if this world's ryan is connected to her, and he's like "um no but ive been looking for u.."

basically ryan wasnt in the new world that long before they came through, since the timeline from when he was dumped to when jason2 broke the wall to get mechanic ryan was short, during which jason1 and amanda went to the new world and jason1 ended up in his home world.

I would love if Jason 2 in season 2 makes ampules and help the other Jasons to find a world created from different decisions made from Jason 2 and Daniela and Charlie.. they would go to .
The show and book only focused on our Jason. Although every decision they made differently would creat a new world
Example.. When our Jason and Amanda from her world tried to escape a couple of hours later . So this means that infinite number of worlds of our Jason were created when Jason 2 came .

Congrats this is an excellent analysis of book v screen adapt. I do have one minor quibble. I read the book twice --like you-- and --like you & Blake Crouch-- think the series is an improvement on the book. However I loved the book equally both times I read it. On 1st read I was sooo caught up in the action & the thrills (imagine Jason Bourne in a sci-fi setting) that the emotional heft didn't register. The emotions & heart caught me by surprise on the 2nd read. So I liked the book as much the 2nd time around. The lead performances by Edgerton , Connelly & Braga absolutely lifted this show above the book. I remember Edgerton from his cameo in the great "Zero Dark Thirty", but Braga was a new face to me. I've seen Connelly numerous times & have always liked her. IMO she's never been better than she was in this series. Her performance in the "Jupiter" episode is jaw dropping. The acting, editing & production all around are Oscar worthy (if they qualified). Finally whoever thought of choosing that particular song by Coldplay from their 1st album in that particular spot in the finale is genius. Finally Part 2: the show was originally slated to be 8 episodes but Blake & EP Matt Tolmach decided that it needed a 9th episode after seeing a 1st cut & they were right.

I loved this show but the last episodes had me scratching my head sometimes. How did Daniella accept this Jason was hers so easily? What happened with Blaire and Jason2 at the house? How likely is it that Jason2 and Jason/Amanda both dreamed up the same utopia? I’ll suspend my disbelief on the last one because I like those characters so much and want them to meet up. I also don’t understand how the Jasons “spawned.” I don’t know that this is a shortcoming of the writing or I just can’t get my head around it.

Wow, Book vs Show is super cool - thank you! The thing I was most confused about in Ep.8 is why “Our Jason” doesn’t explain in detail more about the box (how it works) to Daniela & Charlie until after they’re on the run together… Seems like Daniela immediately grasps what’s going on and deeply trusts “Our Jason” but he didn’t even explain the complexities to them. I honestly believe they had filmed a scene where Jason explains the box, but they scrapped it since it’s not easy to explain succinctly what’s going on with the box…..

    • @WhytheBookWins
      @WhytheBookWins  3 месяца назад +5

In the book, and I think the show as well, Jason had been working on a mini version of the box when he and Daniela had been dating. So she was aware of what was potentially possible with a larger version of the box. Granted, that was like 16 years ago for her so I'm sure her memory on it would have been a little foggy lol.

Jason has some serious mental issues, the experiences he and his alters have had are certainly traumatizing but they take place over a somewhat short amount of time. For his alters to end up be so divergent from one another is a bit worrisome. It’s understandable that Jason 2 is drastically different, they are split by 17 years, the alters though, they shouldn’t be so wildly different.
