Hi Jackie, I'm sorry to hear your loss of your grandma, and thank you for teaching English for Chinese. Chinese phrase is sometimes difficult to be translated into a sentence of English. For an example, the "节哀顺变" has two meanings together. The "节哀" means that "Please control your sadness in order not to affect your health.", and the "顺变" means that "Please adapt yourself to your new living environment (i.e., to live without that person who passed away)".
Jackie I am sure your grandma is loved by this world and she will never be forgotten. As awesome as she is must be enjoying heaven by now with lots of new friends. To have the age of 97 and live her life happily with all you guys around her is God's blessing. We will all miss this lovely Lady and she will be happy in Heaven for sure.
My sympathy to the loss of your grandma. She must be an extraordinary person to touch so many's heart and give you an ample example of care and love for others.

I like your lessons because you are using English to teach English, not like other using Chinese their mother languages to teach English which doesn't make sense at all!!! Learning a language needs to put the learner in that language environment in order to learn. This is how immigrant children learn English in North America. You did a good job, Jackie!!!

His death was expected but when he died it still was too hard for me to accept the fact that my dad was gone. I miss my dad every day. I'm an atheist as most Han Chinese are. But now I really do hope there is another world where people go when they die. I wish my dad still exists, just not in this world. I want to believe that.

In Chinese language we also use "走了"(walked away) “没了” (disappeared) “离开了(人世)"(left (human world)) etc. to substitute 'die'. I notice some people use "offering my condolences " to show sympathy for the people whose family member died. By the way, 2 of my grandparents passed away, and I had similar sorrow as yours. hugging you.
