*FYI: For more reliable cycling through the pump or slide actions and SOME autos : A 60 mm length 'before crimping' or 2.340" might be a better length. 60mm or 2.34" to 2.35".*
Just watching that Lee Load All flex and bend the way it does, re-affirms my choice in MEC products. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I reload every piece of ammo I shoot. 5 different gauges and 30 different calibers. Thanks Maxx
The kitchen is coming along for now I’m done on my part now I’m waiting for the counter top template that’s for October 25 and the counter install will be November 1 then I will start on the backsplash
Made me some birdshot minishells a few months ago, for use in my combination rifle (Tikka 70, 12 ga/222 Rem.) Works really well. :) It has a full constriction barrel, so i can't shoot 12 ga slugs in that one :)
@6:55 That orange blown out primer is a Monarch, correct? Recently picked up a Maverick, but no ammo yet, besides a random single shell that has the same head stamp.
Like I said, I only use my hulls one time. So anyone I pick up at the range is fair game for reloading cheap ones or not Thanks for watching the video.
I love the creativity! I wish your videos were longer I enjoy hearing about your experiences. The trial and error you went threw to arrive at your final result! Also you need to patten your Lee key drive slug wad you developed it is ingenious!
Question: can you just take 00 buck pre-existing shells cut them to the length you need to make shorty shells and just remove the compression area on the cups and put the cup and all the buckshot back in recrimp it as a shorty shell, does that work and/or cause any problem when shooting? In this video you removed that compression area and reused the cup and added in the what looked like steel balls. No issues with that compression area removed on the wad/cup?
If you want to make Shorty shells, there is load data at ballistic products. I would not cut off the shell take the compression out and put it back together and shoot it factory buckshot loads are too hot and have too much powder. Each shell is a custom load. I would not do what you are saying. There would be too much pressure.
could you tell me. is this possible to shot lead naked in the shell without a contoured wad surounding it? i want to reload my own. i have the powder, primer and lead. i would be making my own bottom and top wad out of cardboard. i am wondering if the lead would melt in the barrel, since it would no longer be protected by the plastic wad.
Do you by chance have any recipes for the Federal Shorty 1.75 in shell? With Pyrodex RS. I can't find any smokeless around & would like to reload these for a SxS Damascus shotgun.
Good innovation. Shotshell loading is something I haven't tried yet. I need to add some parts & pieces to get going on it. Mike
Loading shotgun is fun and relaxing
Not sure if you know, but MEC does make a 1-7/8" minishell kit. Part# 100MN9241 $35.99 at BPI.
No I didn’t know that. Lmao. Little too late now. Thanks for the heads up
@@maxxbear5014 I found out about it not all that long ago. I've thought about getting one,
I just ordered it

The MEC is a big step up. I load all my own also. Supply and demand doesn’t bother me.
The lee load all doesn't flex that much when its stock? But yea good choice.
Aqui no Brasil nao existe mini shells pra vender, eu fazer alguns recarregados, você usa a mesma quantidade de pólvora que um cartucho normal?
Great video thanks for the tips 👍👍
Thanks Julio. We are all just trying to figure it out. Lol. You get the kitchen done yet.

Mec makes a shorty kit .👍

I had a combination gun when I was younger it was a 20 gauge to 222. We called it a turkey gun
It can definitely be done, I have some factory short shells from challenger and federal that are star crimped.
Very cool . How do you come up with your powder charge ?

I've never tried the BB load in a short shell before but I have hundreds loaded up in 2 3/4 hulls .
I never thought about loading BBs. Until you told me about it
@@maxxbear5014 BB's make loading shotshell very affordable and easy , IMO . They make a great hunting and self defense round .
Opsol ejector rubber plug works great
Yes it does I have three of them

Good stuff Maxx. Wonder what that load would do to a pumpkin? 🎃. We need to see some stuff get shot with those mini shells lol😆👍🏻
Sorry GB I can’t see shooting up good food…if I was going to buy food that I didn’t want I would donate it to the food bank

Sorry no. I don’t load with Pyrodex
@@maxxbear5014 Thank you.
have you made slug and 00 1 3/4 shells?
Why would you load steel shot in a lead shot wad?
For all I shoot I doubt it will damage my barrel that bad. And if it does I’ll just pick up a new barrel thanks for watching the video
What are those mini shells for? Are they bird shot ?
Sure they are or rabbits
Boring
