These tutorials are the only reason why I’m able to learn the guitar, since i never have time to take actual classes, i will forever be grateful because of this series
I am 58 years old and always loved the guitar. I am particularly inspired by Ed Sheeran and the way he played. I have just started your course and loving it. There is a lot to learn, however it is broken down into nice easy steps and also the homework is so useful to progress. 😊
this really helps. my grandpa gave me his guitar because i have a huge interest in it and it was just sitting on a shelf for years. he can't play it anymore because of his arthritis and i want to learn it for him. he said "If you play that to me, it will feel like my hands are yours playing it again." thank you so much for this!
On day 4 and I so appreciate your videos!!! You’re teaching me to play guitar for the first time! I’m a singer and I’ve been wanting to learn how to play. I’m 42 and ready to learn!
Your videos are awesome. I've just picked up a guitar having zero experience at all. Now following your videos from day 1 and finding them great to follow. Love them and thanks for putting in the time to teach us!
I’m also so happy with your series (CAGED, BLUES) that I’ve just purchase « The complete theory lab » and it looks amazing. I’ve been playing for many years and know I want to understand what I’m playing ! Once I’m done with that one, I will purchase others cause they seem to be incredibly fantastic ! That’s the gift I made to myself for the new year 😉 and my humble way to support your channel, your work and show my gratitude. Thank u Dan🇫🇷👍🏼🍒
Day 4….That magic board is very magical and helpful and I’m really enjoying following along with each lesson……..excellent simple and uncomplicated teaching……thank you Danny you are an amusing, creative, informative teacher……..I love your bring…bring sounds
Day 4 and I am getting more comfortable holding the guitar. My chords sound better today. I just realized that I was using the wrong fingers to make the chords yesterday. Good thing I caught the mistake today. Strumming is a challenge for me.
I’m impressed by your pedagogy and I wish there were a similar channel as yours in French (I do understand everything you say but I know many people who want to learn guitar but they don’t speak English) cause you’re the best ! I’m translating all the lessons for my niece and now I have the best way to teach her guitar . So grateful, I couldn’t be more. Thank u so much Dan🇫🇷👍🏼🍒
Oh man I've been learning guitar for a while and have ignored this basic skill for too long. Thank you for this lesson. Really useful. Just like everything else you guys do.
I've always wanted go learn guitar. I've just always been afraid to. (For no reason, really.) Despite my Band Class background, it's been several years since. (So I'm _very_ rusty keeping beats and rhythm.) I've finally decided to fully commit and try to learn guitar all thanks to a friend of mine sharing your lessons. Although, I _am_ taking it slower than a video a day. More a video per getting the previous one down. Cheers from 2023!
this video was very helpful...I was stuck bcos my strumming always got out of rhythm...thank you very much for your easy explanation it has been 1 month since I picked my first guitar and I really love playing it(still very beginner though). once again thanks for your guidance
I have had my new electric guitar since Christmas Day.. Today is 7th January 2024, and I unlocked an hidden talent.. some clicked , some kind of reset , and boom.. playing like a pro.. clearly I have something.. I discovered I could write so wrote four books/novels.. next challenge, learn the guitar 🎸.. wow.. so pleased I’m on a cloud… 😬.
That's amazing! It sounds like you have a natural talent for both writing and playing the guitar. Keep up the great work and continue to challenge yourself!
Well, I got a Guitar as my first ever instrument, and this course really helps. Thanks Dan and team for classes or as they say in my native language, "धन्यवाद आचार्य |"
Sorry, I haven't made a comment until now. However, This is the best lesson I have had trying to learn. Many instructors gloss over how the strumming and beat works together. This was an eye opener and game changer for me.
Hi. For the 1st time l see you on guitar teaching. I love it . Your not only a teacher; but a master. I am gonna keep following you. Well l am on old age. Hope you be able l e to help. Thanks.
These tutorials are so helpful!! I'm finding I know a lot of this already because I have some (very little) experience but there's always something to learn from your videos. Do you have any tips on strumming patterns & singing? I can do both with some basic patterns but nothing too complex.
Hi really enjoying your 30 day course and as a senior first timer find your teaching very good. I would like your advise on fingers as I have large flat fingers which do tend to mute the strings next to the ones I am trying to play, any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks for the video. Took guitar for a year in hs but I’m just starting to play again a couple years later now. It’s nice to get a refresh on some of the basics and rebuild a foundation
This is so helpful! I learned a bit of ukulele a while back, and this strumming pattern is the main one I learned with that too. However, I never learned that my right arm should always be moving, so it's very nice to have the muscle memory of this strumming pattern already while I establish the habit of moving my arm up and down with the beat and off-beat Edit: Actually, it wasn't this exact pattern, it was D DU UDU, but this lesson was still super helpful
That's amazing, keep up the hard work! If you need any of the supporting material to help you even further, you kind find it all over on the guitar club! - www.guitarclub.io/courses/30-day-beginner-challenge
Thank you soo much, can't wait to shred my guitar as days come along but it feels amazing to smash the basics! But may I ask you what chord you were playing in 20:03 and 20:05 ( ( it looks a lot like a G to me ) please? Again thank you, you're the best
Ah Day4 - The first Rhythm pattern 👍🥁🥁🎸🎸 Lots of Fun 👍👌🎸🎸👏👏😊😊. The way you teach is Marvelous!! Can I download the Drum Beat that you are using from somewhere on your Website?
Hi there, The drum beats can be found on the site here: yourguitaracademy.com/courses/30-day-beginner-challenge/lessons/smashing-the-basics Hope this helps out!
Squeezed this lesson between homework the other day and forgot to leave a comment! My up strum with the pick is still quite a work in progress, but it's definitely come along between then and now. I must admit I was originally guilty of the strum and pause. However, I did make the empty strums for rhythm with ukulele and not guitar because it's easier on the smaller instrument 😅
Hello young people. I noticed that day 4 lesson, you have your second finger on the "A" string and the ring finger on the "D" string. Tell me if I'm wrong but when I play those chords, it's easier for me to switch the fingers on the e minor chord. Is that significant?
Thanks for the course it's incredible!❤But I have one question: I will probably buy a good guitar in the future, but for now, is it a big problem if I still use for some months my old guitar (I'm 15,and I used this guitar when I was like 7, so it is a little smaller than a normal guitar(1/2 size, if I am not wrong,87cm)) or I need to buy a 4/4 size?
Hi there, a 1/2 size guitar will probably be a bit small for you now, I would recommend getting onto a full size guitar as soon as possible, but if that can't be right away definitely still keep playing on the 1/2 size!
Hey Kevin! we recently made a change to the way our courses are online you can read about it more here: yourguitaracademy.com/blog/announcements/important-course-update
Hey! I n the video we're aiming to hit all the strings that are playing in the chord but with the up stroke it can be up to you whether you hit just the first few or all to add some dynamics to your playing, have a go with both! :) -Cam
i’m trying to learn but i can’t seem to hold the guitar pick right- i did as you said and i’m originally left handed but i okay right handed and it just doesn’t feel right holding the puck in my right hand i don’t know probably just because in left handed i just can’t strum with a pick right
Holding a pick to play the guitar is a very unnatural thing to and will feel very strange in either hand at first but have a look at the picture in this lesson: yourguitaracademy.com/courses/30-day-beginner-challenge/lessons/smashing-the-basics and keep trying it will feel normal soon 🤟
The backing tracks, as well as the rest of the course material is available on our Guitar Club here - www.guitarclub.io/courses/30-day-beginner-challenge We offer a 14-Day free trial so you can try it out too! If you have any questions feel free to send us a message.
Why does it look like you are strumming up when the arrow show down? it like you going the opposite direction of the arrow. Am I reading it wrong? Up is actually strumming down?
