Gary Moore Inspired Speed Trick!

- This is a little trick I've been using for a while in mostly pentatonic lines. the way it's played means that the notes sound more textured and make licks sound a bit more complicated than they actually are.
Finally a great humble teacher -straight to clear & precise points without too much conversation and bullshit .And no long goofy intro either.Thank You !!!
I second this emotion so much!
@@germanic4316 me too!!!!!!!!
So simple but layered sounding at the same time.
Gary's 'Fire Alarm Blues' right here on YT is one of the greatest guitar slayings I've ever seen!🤘 Rip Gary Moore🙏
Gary Moore is simply the best guitarist this world has ever seen!!
He’s one of the greatest but the not the best, the best ones technically are Alan Holdsworth and Guthrie Govan
@@medmusic7977how in the world can you put hendrix and guthrie in the same category? Does not make any sense
@@markusdahlaasheim8527 Hendrix? What are u talking about?
@@medmusic7977 exactly, you cant say «technically» when it is a subjective manner, and listing two randoms like Hendrix and Guthrie does not make any sense, like what kind of criteria have you then set for them???
@@medmusic7977hendrix??
Really?😂😂😂😂😂
At last! Where were you 35 years ago when I was trying to learn GM solos??? This is GREAT. Thanks for sharing.
Brother, I watched plenty G.Moore lessons. Thanks for sharing this technique with us.
Utterly fantastic! I've been trying to unlock these Gary Moore style tricks for years and finally decided I just couldn't play melodically with speed. I was wrong. TrueFire and other online sources either don't cover this stuff, or don't teach it effectively. Thanks, Dan. Genuinely. After watching a few of your videos, you've already unlocked a lot of buried potential in my playing.
Dan I've been a fan of Gary Moore since the first time I heard him blazing away for Thin Lizzy!... You showing us this technique, (some may call it a "trick" but you still have to learn it and get it in your hands and fingers, your muscle memory!) In ANY event you have solved something that's been at the back of my mind wandering for YEARS...
" How the hell did that man play some of those licks that he did at SUCH a Frightening SPEED?".. Well, he didn't use that in all of those super fast licks he was an incredibly fast picker ANYWAY, but I just wanted to THANK YOU, for such a COOL addition, to ANY lead player's Speed repertoire!.. 👍👍👍
THIS WAS REALLY GOOD STUFF. THANK YOU DAN.! 🙂 I PRACTICED AND LEARNED THESE TRICKS.!🙂
A video on how you get the Gary's tone would be killer. Pedals, amp, guitar, secrets etc..... Love your channel! Peace
This Is brilliant. Thank you so much for posting this clip :-)
This is one of the most helpful exercise I have seen in a long time! Thank you Dan! You rock brother!
Of all the things Gary Moore's ever played on, written or recorded, his playing on Thin Lizzy song Sarah is sublime. Your average Heavy Metal Harry couldn't play anything like that in a million years.
Yeah. He was a great jazz rock guitaist as well. Had that wildness and vibrato that was unique and so many excellent players lack. Gary's stuff with Colloseum 2 was so raw, it brought the jazz maths to life.
Gotta be the best Gary Moore lesson channel going. Really captures the character of how he plays those fast flurries!! Looking forward to more Gary content!!! Thank you 😊 🙌🏼
Dude......the keys to the lambo right here! Thank you brother. Subscribed
Hi like to see red house from fender 50th Gary Moore's awesome bends & licks from there matey .what a version thanks.keep up great channel 👍🤗✅😀

damn son, you nail garys sounds, and ive never really seen anyone come close, let alone THIS close
Welcome back Dan.Excellent Gary content.
thanx a lot!
warm greetings from germany and from a german guitarist.........
When I first started lessons back in 1994 I told my instructor that I wanted to learn all the cool rock tricks on electric guitar. While he did a great job teaching me all the important stuff (and lots of actual classic rock songs), he did not teach me the "tricks" that I asked for. You're already covering these in the first two videos I've seen, yesterday and now today. So it took me a while, but I found someone to teach them to me. Now I get that the basics are required to really learn these tricks (knowing all the pentatonic minor shapes for example), but someone needed to show me the tricks. It's similar to learning a skilled trade. Thank you.
I love your Gary videos mate. I discovered Victims of the Future the other day and it's really inspired me.
I've subscribed off the back of this, great lesson mate.
Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Your a great guitarist too 🎸🎸🎸👏

I love videos like this. Nice and simple and makes me want to start practicing right now. Thank you 😊
Simple but highly effective - cool little riff. Appreciate you posting. Subscribed!
Thanks for this dude,sounds ace.
Great video..... So good !!!!
chuck that in at the end of long sustained notes in descending sequences and you've pretty much nailed Gary's schtick!
Great breakdown. Love your humility.
That's a cool trick!
Sehr lehrreich...sehr inspirierend...Thanks...
Thanks for the lesson! Love those Gary Moore tricks!
The Marshall guv' nor reissue pedal is back 🔥✌️
Wow, that sounds so cool & effortless, just like Gary.
What a great approach to common licks, but somehow way more aggressive sounding.
A quick video on how you get the tone and sound would be useful! Thanks.
I have tried to figure out how he gets that sound, this is the best lesson for his lacks I've seen
Thanks dawg you talented

I really enjoy your channel--thanks for the post...
This lesson is quite good. Imma subscribe.
Wow, thanks man! Huge Gary Moore fan, but I never realized this was what he was doing. I can already hear how this could be used for sooo many iconic Gary Moore moments. Definitely going to give it a go - hope it'll click for me ;)
Glad the vid helped you, yeah he didn’t do it all of the the time but I’ve transcribed solos for people and noticed a lot of it happening in his lines. Hope you have some fun with it!
Wow!! Looking forward to trying this!! 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸Thank you!
Your Eppi sounds Epic mate! Great lesson! New subscriber right here 👍🎸
This picking technique is Gold Bro great videos
Geeh, thats great. Thanks!
Killer mate 👏
Cool man! Thank you!🤘🤘🤘
Superb. I've been playing the solo to Waiting For an Alibi wrong, and now I know why. Thank you
Believe it or not, Scott Gorham plays the solo on Waiting For An Alibi (though I assumed for years it was Gary).
Nice video and well explained....

Nice approach
I discovered you quite by chance Dan and am blown away by this, it's really fantastic. As a long time, but very mediocre player, this has opened up a whole new world for me and will be trying this on my Epiphone Les Paul Standard today.
My Epiphone LP Standard go a whole new set of electronic upgrades, tuners, Tusq nut and Seymour Duncan Slash pickups put in it years ago. It's. A.Full. On. Rock. Machine. Now....!
Nice and compact lesson - thanx!
Thank you 🙇♂️
Great, I wish I found it as easy as you do 😉
Great lesson! Thanks!
i don't usually watch guitar videos but when i do is your channel to look for some gary licks that i can't understand, thanks for all your hard work! from a Gary fan to another i salute you from Argentina!
I'm happy you like to watch the vids! Thanks!
Great lesson!
Can't wait to try tomorrow morning
Thanks, Dan. You're an excellent player and teacher!
Great playing and taste!
Pure gold!
I'm quite fast and made my own thing that sounds about the same, but this just showed me how to get the exact sound I was looking for. Thanks!
Good for you .
that sounds pretty wicked when you do it
You are fantastic, well done!!! Please can you make a lesson for the solo part of hiroshima by gary moore? Best regards
Excellently explained and executed as usual.
One of us is going to have to change their name if we become famous superstars, good videos!
Nice!
Alright mate... liked and subscribed. Need more videos like this. I have always struggled to figure out how to use pentatonic scales and this video opens it up for me.
Great!!
Great lick
Thanks man
Thanks for sharing some of Gary licks. You're a great teacher ¡Greetings from Argentina! Btw, you sound amazing too.
where have you been mate ? your last videos like 3 years a go . wellcome back ,
the video i was looking and you do those licks very simple :)
Very cool. More 'cheaty licks' please!
Excel aula! Já me inscrevi no canal. Um abraço direto do Brazil! 🇧🇷🎸
Nice, I'll give this a crack
That's fantastic! Plus, you even _look_ a bit like Gary Moore! My fingers are a bit slow, but I shall give it a go.
Subscribed man! Very very cool! And some proper, real skill! I hope your channel grows, keep it up.
And a very cool real lesson man. Well done!
hey, ive been av massive fan of gary moore and your yt channel for years. gary were the guitar player who got me into guitar. ive learned alot of his songs because of you, so i thank you for that. couple of weeks ago i came upon this video with Gary moore and George harrison, playing the song While my guitar gentely wheeps. its the best cover of the song ive heard, the way gary plays in that song is absolutley genius. i would love to see you do a video on how he plays it. ive only playd guitar for about 1.5year so i personally dont have the skills to figure it out. love your videos
Thanks for the awesome comment! Yeah I also love that version of WMGGW, it's just a shame there isn't a version in really good quality. I'm sure he uses a bit of what I've spoke about in this video at times but of course in Am. I would have to have a look at it but as I said, the quality of video and audio isn't the best on it so make I can pick some things out..
Brilliant
cool
Great to see you back Dan with another awesome lesson. You should be out there playing in a GM tribute band - you're the only person on RUclips with the true authentic GM sound. 😉
Nice
great playing bro
very cool vid. Thank you.
This is very reminiscent of how Clapton does his fast pentatonic circular licks. The main difference is that he doesn't really travel through the scale with them, he usually just kind builds up to a climactic flurry or just throws them in to otherwise more conventional pentatonic runs.
cool thanks
That ”blues note” works well over the V chord in a blues.
SRV uses the same note and
i bet many others as well
great video
really helpful lesson thank you ... , only wish you turned off the distortion .. it would make it sound easier to hear the notes and also make it sound alot closer to Garys sound .. cheers
Ha!....fuckin' great man:) cheers from Detroit
Move it up a few and ya basically got waiting for an alibi.lizzy lick....Gary had some crazy hand strength....Great guitarist..met him once and he just ignored me..I said hello to him in Brighton....as I'm a big fan ..and he out right blanked me..odd guy ..but he sure could play
1:03 You are the best youtuber !!!
ace!
