Miguel's March

This #SlowAirSunday is very dear to my heart. "Miguel's March" was written to honor the memory of Miguel Cervantes. This weekend our fire families are gathering at the California Sacramento State Capitol to honor the families of those who have lost a loved one in the Fire service at the California Firefighters Memorial.
The California Firefighters Memorial is a unique and stunning tribute to the more than 1500 firefighters who have died in the line of duty since California became a state in 1850. The California Firefighters Memorial was unveiled on April 6, 2002, and is a lasting tribute to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect their fellow Californians.
This year we will be placing Engineer Paramedic Miguel Cervantes name on the wall at the Memorial. Our hearts go out to the Cervantes family.
Engineer Paramedic Miguel Cervantes served the people of Rancho Cucamonga for 17 years as a Firefighter in Rancho Cucamonga Fire District. Miguel was a lead member of Rancho Cucamonga's Fire District honor guard. For many years I had the personal joy teaching him how to play the Bagpipes. His smile and love of service brought so much joy to those who served alongside him. He was beloved by all and his legacy will forever be remembered.
I am dedicating this new tune to Miguel and his incredible family. Miguel knew his path and he marched forward with love.
