You're supposed to do whatever it takes to get the fastest time, so if you're going to use a glitch, do it! It seems like an acceptable definition of "legit" speedrunning could be something like: Finishing a game as fast as possible, using any and all exploits of the game possible, without altering or adding to the original software of the game. By this definition, glitches are perfectly acceptable, as anyone who owns the game could perform the same glitches without altering their software. Putting the further restriction of "no glitches" creates a subcategory of speedruns that is perfectly welcome from the community, as far as I can tell, but does not in any way invalidate speedruns that use glitches, because anyone with the base software could do the things these speedrunners do, provided they practice the way these guys do. Speedruns using glitches are extremely skill-based (it's not easy to perform many of these glitches, much less do it in a timely way), and should not be considered cheating. "Cheating" would be altering the software to improve the character's sprinting speed, for example. Ok. Rant over.

It would be slower, because he would have to both get a thrust weapon and get the upgrade materials, and killing him on the back wouldn't save much if any time. He'd lose time overall.

yeah once DLC comes out there'll be an All Boss + DLC category he has to run, which wont let him use teardrops. but the categroy of All Bosses pre-DLC is still available

After so many runs, it's pretty much a standard to see the bosses fall in a second. He probably wasn't that lucky the first time he fought him.
