I already like cabbage, and I was expecting to like this recipe. I wasn't expecting it to be one of the most delicious things that I've ever eaten. This was AMAZING. I sprinkled mine with paprika, and then I topped it with crumbled tempeh cooked w/ onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, pinch of cumin, black pepper, more paprika, and a splash of soy sauce, and drizzled it all with a sauce made of sour cream thinned with lemon juice.
Just made this and it was INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS and filling. Also, the fennel was a brilliant touch, it's true that it really complements the cabbage flavor!
I LOVE this. And I am so going to make this. I have a seasoning blend that is my favorite, and it will go perfectly with this concept. Thank you for a new way to enjoy cabbage.
My 16 yr. old son wants cabbage no other way!! Made it 3 times in 2 weeks! Thank you!! I usually prepare it raw in a salad or sautéed with other veggies...
thank you for your great and healthy recipes! I've tried a few of them and they all turned out perfectly! Especially i loved your carrot muffins!!! my husband said they were the best muffins in his life and i've cooked a lot, trust me))
Does this mean cabbage is going to cost twice as much now? ALL MY vegetables have doubled n more in price because now there " Cool" STOP IT LEAVE MY VEGTABLES ALONE!
That's how we do it if we have bacon fat leftover. I like to rub the cabbage in the little pieces of bacon crust that's leftover in the pan and get the bacon grease all over the cabbage. My god, if you like cabbage you must do it.
These roasted cabbage are really amazing. Thanks for sharing this recipe with all of us. Even i have a special roasted cabbage recipe. Check out the recipe here: www.foodybud.com/simple-roasted-cabbage-crunchy-creamy-sweet/
No, never add sugar. The point of something like this is it's low calorie, chocked full of vital nutrients & plant compounds that help regulate countless functions of detoxification in the body, and a GREAT delivery system for nutritive fats! (Besides, cabbage transforms as you cook/bake it & a natural sweetness comes out.) You can live on zero carbohydrates, but your body cannot function without specific fatty acids to utilize directly or create essential lipids in the body. You cannot make cholesterol--a key ingredient in the membrane of every single cell in your body, as well as every hormone, from thyroid hormone to estrogen to cortisol--without sufficient nutritive fats. And, for the record, saturated fat is heart protective and poly-unsaturated fats cause massive cardiovascular damage as they are unstable and prone to "free radical damage." _That_ is what the actual science has always shown. You've bought into the Big Lie Ansel Keys sold to the American Heart Association back in the 50s, despite the fact that his own research proved the opposite of his claims. And we've been a grain-based, high carbohydrate, low fat society ever since, with ever increasing rates of CV disease, heart disease, insulin resistance and metabolic disorder, diabetes & complications, MIs/heart attacks, celiac disease & other digestive disorders, cancers, and a host of other diseases that were rare unicorns before that dietary shift. As far as this recipe goes, that's a smidgen of oil or fats. To break it down, that's 4T of oil for 6 servings. A good rule of thumb is to make sure you have no less than 1T of nutritive fats per serving of food, and mix them up throughout the day so you get the full spectrum, not just extra virgin olive oil and nothing else. (That would be like eating 1 vegetable all the time and expecting to get all the vital nutrients. There's nothing in nature that can provide that. Eat ALL the vegetables!) So use good saturated compounds like pastured/grass-fed butter or ghee, coconut or palm oil, and mono-unsaturated powerhouses like olive, sesame, avocado, etc. Before you demonize fats again, consider doing some open-minded research. You've been sold lies and whole-heartedly bought into them & repeated them! Fat is vital to life. Carbohydrates are not. (And for the love of whirrled peas, STOP COUNTING CALORIES! Count nutrients instead if you feel the need to play The Count. Okay, old Sesame Street pun.) The more you know! 🌠
Ross is correct. Oil oil is NOT for cooking at high temps. Instead cook with an oil that is good for high heat like Avocado Oil or Coconut Oil. Save the Olive oil for salad dressings or drizzling over food.
I grow cabbage, and really, there's no way for dirt to get into the inner leaves. The head of cabbage you see at the store has been stripped of many, many huge leaves and the big stalk from which they grew. The center head is just a small part of the entire plant and never touches dirt.

This is fantastic. Turns a humble cabbage into sweet, caramelized, melt-in-the-mouth goodness.
I tried this and it tasted sooooooo great! Loved it! Simple, straight forward and delish!
I use garlic powder(or diced garlic) and red pepper flakes. Heat to 450 and roast 15 min turn over and 15 min more. Absolutely delicious
Thanks for the tip of leaving the core in to keep the thing held together...I never would've thought of that!
😁
I would blend fresh garlic, sea salt and olive oil, then drizzle it on top. Yum 😋
I will try this. I love roasted brussel sprouts. I hope it is similar.
Just made this and it was INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS and filling. Also, the fennel was a brilliant touch, it's true that it really complements the cabbage flavor!
Looks healthy and delicious at the same time!
This looks incredible, can't wait to try it!
Man, I hardly cook. And this was so delicious! MUST MAKE MORE
I love these! SO delish AND healthy! I like to drizzle balsamic vinegar on top when done. YUM!
Esp thick balsamic v.❤

Sarah Carey is amazing
I'm going to try that. Thanks!
Wow Sarah...well told, no excesses, edited as you worked it... so cool.
Omg so delicious! Thank you !
Super lovely.
Looks amazing 😍
Finally a way to use up all the leftover cabbage I have in my fridge every time I buy one!
This was new , never though of roasting cabbage, is it young cabbage or just small size?
+heghineh just small. You can actually do it with any size. Cabbage gets really sweet when roasted.
Thanks for the recipe!😍👍 Will be trying out soon. How long to preheat?
Now I have a base for my andouille and potato tray bake. Lets go!
cabbage is my fav vegetable,i'll make it tonight
Defiantly unrelated but I LOOOVE her hair cut and color!
L G I like garlic and parma cheese on it.
Vegan, simple, delicious... Yes please!!!
+Taylor Gillespie it's so good!
Is it crispy or is it still soft?
you have turned my world upside down with this
I don't like the smell of cooked cabage when it is boiled but I might have to try to cook it this way. Thanks for sharing.
Placed on my to-do list.
That's so good with corn beef or cook ham
Great recipe! Thanks. What would you serve with cabbage? Beef pot roast? Chicken? Lamb and potatoes? Sausages?
+Colin Hirons sure. any of those would be great.
+Sarah Carey Thanks Sarah. I 'll try it with some English bangers and mash and some lovely thick beef gravy. Yum!
Protocol Officer
Yes, they do look like flowers :)
I need mine with either ACV or balsamic v.
I adore thick balsamic v on anything.I bet white balsamic vinegar is good.
Serving suggestions? What would this go well with?
What! No garlic?
skylark perfect!
look crispy
If one does not like caraway or fennel what would be another alternative?
I think garlic and maybe paprika and onion salt would be good
What if it makes thin slices, and what if thick?
Thin slices would cook quicker and end up crispier if left in the oven for the same time, thicker slices would be the opposite.
Hi if no fennel nor carraway seeds, what else can be used as spice for the roasted cabbage?
+anydae ppl are saying to use dill and cumin
I'm going to try it with Paprika and may put some cream cheese on before its fully cooked.
I would try garlic, onion and paprika
Love sarah.. can't take listening to martha
Thanks kid
Wow thanks fora hating this yummy dish
wow I had never seen roasted cabbage before. here in Nicaragua we eat it in salads and in beef and chicken soup. can we eat it with roasted chicken?
sure eat it with roasted chicken.
Could this be done with half the oil?
I was going to ask the same question because that is way too much oil. One tablespoon of olive oil is like over a hundred calories!
can I add more spices?
No, it would explode.
@@Radjehuty hahahahaha :)
I had to cook a little longer (10 min), was still crunchy.
Liked that you gave attention to the underside
what seeds did you add ,please
She added fennel seeds
I'm gonna put a fried egg right on top-yummers!
What did she wipe off the table and sprinkle on thew cabbage ? hehe
The fennel seeds 😂😂
Nan Mc 😆😅😅😄😄😪😪😴😴😈😱👿👾👽😹☹😠💆👵🎅👴👼👸👼👳👭👃🖎👋🖎🖓👣♩🎶🔕🎶🎛♩🔕🎺🎸🎛
I saw that too...
YUK! AND what do you use it as a side dish with?
They're not wedges.
Cabbage steak I think
thank you! that was driving me nuts.
Looks delicious
Well yeah .. I cut the bottom then wash it really good.. And check for bugs or sand grains.. Usually it's clean but I guess it's all in my head.
Please do recipes using a pressure cooker, thanks!
Does this mean cabbage is going to cost twice as much now?
ALL MY vegetables have doubled n more in price because now there " Cool"
STOP IT LEAVE MY VEGTABLES ALONE!
If people would stop eating so much meat farmers would go back to growing veggies for humans and the cost will go down. Eat meat once a week.
says 2 table spoons..then pours the rest of the bottle on the cabbage...i like her
Try mustards seeds
What if you baked them in bacon fat?!?! Sorta would remind me of Brussels sprouts, bacon and garlic?
That's how we do it if we have bacon fat leftover. I like to rub the cabbage in the little pieces of bacon crust that's leftover in the pan and get the bacon grease all over the cabbage. My god, if you like cabbage you must do it.
I once put oven cabbage on my homemade burger my God it’s forever that way. Ops bought the vegen beef so it’s not all homemade hahah
orange is the new black got a cooking show?
King Alfred

For some reason green cabbage grosses me out, but I live for red cabbage 😰
Could be the smell when it's cooked , but it's one of the healthiest veggies
Why don't you wash the cabbage? Or do you clean it off camera?
One big Brussels sprout
What happened to shirah?
Stunning and simple..........Uh, a slice and a wedge are two different things. I thought but good video otherwise.
*w e d g e s*
Cook the same way with bacon on top...then throw away the cabbage!
bigblue62220 No thanks,i don't eat cat rat and dog. 😷
Not very nice. even animals like cabbage....lol
Throw you away
She sounds like kim k in her 50's
Please send me a clone of Sarah.
Oh boy. A shitload of oil and salt. And I can hear it now: for extra flavor use bacon fat, more salt, and a teaspoon ful of sugar on each one.

Too carbonated. Golden brown is where it’s at. Not black.
RIP nutrients.
Recipes from prison collection
It was OK---Nothing I would make again
She didn't try it... Maybe it's not as tasty as it seems?!
Never cook olive oil, raw is best dearie
Ridiculous.

No washing !
+Big Kahona Maybe she washed it before hand -_-
I thought the same thing lol. Usually you wash after you remove the 1st layer.

Lisa Boutin Ya true, but many hands have touched it
+Alesha J And you seriously believe any germ would survive being baked at 400°F?
No they do not look like flowers

I've just prepared this recipe and it was disgusting
