      I saw the switch was in the wrong position. Do you use it professionally? Is it quick to break away all lugs? I’m mnx tech so I do a lot of tires which means lots of lugs. I use a dewalt, the big impact wrench version,

    I used ruclips.net/user/postUgkx4ynqaujg7rZKFapA8s29kTpRszJGa3-K this for the first time today to replace the front wheel bearing on my rwd 98 dodge dakota. This had absolutely no issue removing or reinstalling the lug nuts and it took off the axle nut without any struggle. Sounds like it's got some muscle to it. Time will tell

    • @jonathanalea
      @jonathanalea 5 лет назад +7

      Snap-On still has superior manual ratchets, sockets, etc. but I agree, Milwaukee M12/M18 Impact Tools are going to take over Snap-On's lower torque application air and battery tools.

    • @josephsamsor1698
      @josephsamsor1698 5 лет назад +1

      Jonathan Lea how much is high torque? Milwaukee has an 1100lb ft impact i believe. I think some of the new ones are even WiFi controlled to where you can set torque specs.

    • @jonathanalea
      @jonathanalea 5 лет назад

      Joseph Samsor 1800 ft lbs... you’re right tho, Milwaukee is creeping on higher end too. I just don’t see companies like schlumbeger, Cummins, or other industrial companies moving to battery power overnight, that’s all. They have high repetition and air tools in the near term will be more reliable, lower maintenance, and not dependent on batteries.
      I’ve seen no third party documentation relating to the accuracy and long term reliability of ONE-KEY™... so, I suggest still using a torque wrench.

    • @josephsamsor1698
      @josephsamsor1698 5 лет назад

      Jonathan Lea oh yeah it’s definitely no replacement for an torque wrench but it’s a good safety feature. Maybe for assembling an engine you could set the torque spec low with a slower speed to avoid cross threading or something and then finish it off with a torque wrench. I think for shops air is the way to go but these electric ones are great since you can just toss them in a bag and go to a junkyard or friend’s place to work on a car. The batteries also last surprisingly long for the work that you can get out of them. It seems like they make the best electric tools but for some air is better.

    • @jonathanalea
      @jonathanalea 5 лет назад +1

      Joseph Samsor Some of these Fuel models have a setting that will drive down a fastener until there’s one second of impact and shut off. I’ve looked for a spec on the amount of torque that this would apply but I found nothing. Using this feature then a torque wrench seems like the best way to use the tool. and it will result in the least breakage of the tool/battery as well as the fastener.
      I just got some M12 fuel tools (no ONE-KEY™) last weekend that are on sale at Home Depot and the quality is top notch. I mostly own Snap On and Blue Point hand tools but these Milwaukee impact tools are legit and can save a bunch of time on car and truck applications for the average Jon and Joe.

    • @WeldingForJesus
      @WeldingForJesus 4 года назад +1

      I have both this and the M18 high torque, personally I think they complement eachother rather than compete. The stubby is great for getting into cramped spaces, but lug nuts are definitely M18 work, at least for me when I need a key for the SUV (adding a link really steals alot of torque) and my other vehicle is a tank truck.
      The good part if you go M18 first is that the M12 is relatively cheaper both for tools and batteries so you already took the worst hit.

    Thinking about grabbing one of these. Never owned an impact wrench before but I’m just starting to get into working on my car as well as my wife’s car. I essentially have every tool I really need to do simple jobs on our cars but I just picked up a cordless ratchet and that thing is truly awesome. I think between that, one of these stubby 1/2” impacts and the rest of the hand tools I’ve got at home, I should be able to do just about any job I’d ever need to do.
    I’ve read some conflicting opinions about whether something like this is capable of doing things like brakes and suspension work. I guess I may need to look into getting a mid or high torque later on if the stubby can’t hack it but judging by this video, it seems pretty damn capable.

    Seams like it’s got more power than my 18v mid torque running 5ah battery. I find it really struggles on wheel bolts but undos hub nuts torqued much higher. Wish I brought this now and the high torque for wheels. But assumed 600nm would undo 180nm wheel bolts. Maybe I will try a 9ah battery like you have pointed out when using the 6ah. Excellent vid.

    I bought one in a 1/2 " and its great. I waited months for it to finally be released and become available. I finally got my hands on one and I love it. The three torque settings you can individually choose and set it to. Work great. My only regret and its not a big one. I bought mine with " Pin Detente " I am on the wall on that one. However, I have to thank Milwaukee and give them a big shout out. For something, that is so minute to most average people who own the M12 system and perhaps has gone unnoticed. However minute or insignificant it may be. If you are a south Paw
    ( left Handed ) as I am.
    For me and possibly all lefties out there. Somebody ( Milwaukee ) finally took a moment and thought about us. It is a BIG "THANK YOU " Milwaukee for your thoughtful consideration. Now here it is. Milwaukee M12 has a built in /on hanger that allows you to clip it on your belt or pocket to carry it. This hanger clip can be unscrewed and placed on the opposite side. Making it ideal for left handed carry. I can adapt all their tools for a lefty.
    In the Marine corps. All weapons and still, till this day I imagine are designed for Right handed people. Forcing lefties to adapt and in some instances immediately placing us at a disadvantage. Unless, You are in law enforcement and your partner is a righty. Most righties love having a partner who carries his weapon on the left . Both flanks are equally covered . Anyway .
    Thank you Milwaukee for your thoughtful consideration and Happy Veterans Day to all my brothers and sisters who served.
    In The Corps we have a saying.
    "For Those Who Fought For It. Freedom Has A Taste, The protected will Never Know. " Semper Fi.

    I think your channel was originally suggested to me due to your Milwaukee tool reviews. I came for that and stayed for the satyrical comedy skits--good stuff! I recently bought my first battery-powered nut-turner: the 3/8" extended-reach Fuel ratchet. I like it a lot. I've had my eye on their new right-angle Fuel impacts. Assuming you even have the time to read this, if you had to pick one M12 or M18 nut-turner, which one would it be, and why? Might even be a video in there somewhere, like a Milwaukee SWAT team raiding your garage, taking all your money, and leaving you with some tools... I'm sure quite a few of us could relate.

    When I swapped the tires on my F150 in the spring I had to use a breaker bar. I've got the same impact wrench but the 3/8" version and was using a 6Ah battery. The thing is, I had to use a 3/8"-1/2" adapter because I didn't have any 3/8 drive sockets then. I've heard that an adapter will reduce the amount of torque so a little while ago I got some 3/8 drive sockets. This coming fall when I swap them again I'll see if not using an adapter this time will break the lugs. I torque them to 150 ft/lbs.

      BARRICADE GARAGE makes sense, and if I use 3/8 adapter on smaller stuff it’ll still have way more power than most 13mm and smaller sockets should ever need.
      Thank you

    You use the 6.0 battery most of the time? My kit came with the 4.0 battery and 1.5 stick. I may upgrade.

    I own the 3/8 version
    Same output as 1/2
    Takes off suspension bolts, engine bolts, it struggles with wheel lugs if they’re stuck if they’re actually torqued to spec they’ll come off
    This gun fits in a lot of weird spots
    I use it daily I’m a professional mechanic

    Might as well get the 1/2 high torque, and get a 3/8 compact for everything else. This way you got everything covered. Seeing as this 1/2 has issues with some tougher bolts.

    • @ibrazeau3044
      @ibrazeau3044 5 лет назад +3

      Joe Chest I had the 3/8 stubby and exchanged it for the 1/2 and have no regrets. The 3/8 socket depths and the thinner walls make for the wrench to impact even more. I go 1/2 on all my impacts and reduce as needed. 3/8 sockets for my cordless ratchet :). This little guy feels and is probably stronger because of the 1/2 socket girth. Probably the same analogy as the Lisle harmonic sockets working better then standard sockets... gross comparative but the imagery is right. It is not made to continuously remove all the bolts shown in this video but seeing it accomplishing these tasks shows how awesome it really is! You are right, get a stubby and the high torque... don't underestimate the mid torque's practicality... weighs less then the high torque and addresses 90% of the car bolts. High torque is for those stubborn bolts or the very large ones.

      As a technician if I was to pick this up it would mostly be used for tire rotations since the high torque kills my wrist by the end of the day. Sweet gun and a great video showcasing its abilities.

    That little thing with the mid torque and the high torque in your arsenal and you are in bidness. I have this 1/2 impact, I find that the 3/8 doesn't have the oomph this guy has. Guess it's the socket girth adding to the power. Seeing you remove all these bolts shows its awesomeness. I normally stop at 1" or 24mm with this guy and move to the other two when in doubt... you drive it home a whole lot more then I do! How's the battery time after all that? I'm 3 and 6 amp batteries for m12. Good video and thanks for showing.

      I Brazeau I mostly do suspension work so the 3/8 version wouldnt cut it for me. I ordered a 6.0 battery to use with this tool and it handles 80% of everything I throw at it. the battery life is great

      BARRICADE GARAGE My exact thoughts on the 3/8... under hood stuff (even at that), small motors or motorcycles... anything else is 1/2. If you can afford just one stubby, I say 1/2 all the way!
      When I had the 3/8 version, I had tried it to do 5/16 and 3/4 lags of 6". After only a few it became real hot and it was blinking like a Christmas tree! I returned it and took a 1/2 and did not do the same experiment with it... my old 3/8's new owner might have an early Christmas tree this year ;). Albeit, the 1/2 feels much better and doesn't impact as much

    Truth be told, I don't think it's possible to own something that will crack open every bolt, every single time, that you'll be able to move around with ease.
    In the garage I work at, we have a monstrous 10 bar air-compressor with some pretty O.K. air guns (meanimgg they aren't high end). They crack open practically anything but there are still bolts that come up every once in a while that just won't budge with a regular 1/2 air gun. That's when we bring out the small frie, that is, a huge air gun that has a larger socket (I don't quite remember what's above 1/2).
    Point being, sometimes you still have to get a breaker bar and knock that bolt down. Unless you want to snap off bolts or go deaf from all the noise of the air gun fighting.
    I think you might have convinced me with this video, although I'm still thinking on the M18.
