    This was a great 101 video, many of the solder joints I see used a weak torch and don't pull the filler into the socket causing a porcupine joint . Great work! It takes confidence to post your work!

    cool that you removed the valves to protect the seals while brazing .a lot of other videos showing brazing did not even talk about valve seal damage from heat. good tip .

    Thanks for posting, enjoy your videos.... been 25 yrs since I brazed last and trying to pick it up again. Have boxes of scrap pipe and junk parts and started to melt things. Trying out both the kangaroo cart oxy-acetylene torch using sil-phos 5 & 15 as well as a presto-lite air mapp gas torch handle and hose that was stored new longer than you are old! with Stay Brite 8 solder. Looking to resurrect some reach ins out of a storeroom of mothballed equipment. Want to get out of F&B operations and go back to maintenance. The bean counters finally bought a recovery setup so time to try and give it a shot!

    Only thing I didn’t like was that Acid Away. Nothing belongs in a system besides refrigerant, and oil. No stop leak, or additives designed to absorb moisture or acid. If you do a proper clean up, you shouldn’t have to add something to finish the job.

    I also wet the surrounding areas down with a garden hose or spray bottle with water in it. To prevent fires. Dust catching fire etc. Also keep your 10 lb co2 close by as a fire extinguisher. Or garden hose. Safety first ! Dad Taught me that ! allways ! Keep Fire extinguisher or Garden hose or co2 tank close by for Safety.

    Which rod please? I think you stayed on your side of the pipe too much starting out and didn't evenly distribute the heat all the way around the pipe but what do I know?

    • @UlisesPalacios
      @UlisesPalacios  7 лет назад

      Blade 15 percent rod. Yeah I need to clean my tip. I should have put down my first blanket to protect the roof. You only want to be on the brass side for a few second. I would like to try a hook tip to evenly heat the pipe all the way around. It will probably be faster and a better braze. Thanks

    Where are you at that they allow the a.c. disconnect to just lie on the floor and to run wires not concealed within conduit. We're talking major electrical electrocution problem here. You must be in a class room, one of the most dangerous places in the world.

    You need a bigger torch, and if you flow the nitrogen from the same side that you are brazing it will push the heat away from the valve. I like the video.

    Como se llama el material que usas para cubrir la válvula?

  • @jonassalas6937
    @jonassalas6937 6 лет назад

    Does this push nitrogen up the wrong way and warp the valves internally? I was told to push nitrogen away from the valves to prevent melting them internally.

    • @UlisesPalacios
      @UlisesPalacios  6 лет назад

      jonas salas there is no right or wrong way to purge nitrogen. It’s gonna go in both directions. Very small amount of nitrogen just to displace any oxygen. As long as you wrap the valves with a wet rag or similar you will be fine.

    • @UlisesPalacios

      It’s best to remove then and wrap the valve also so you don’t damage the Teflon seal in the shut off valves.

    What kind of rod bar and flux to weld?

    • @Z-Ack
      @Z-Ack 4 года назад

      Rod was pure magnesium and flux was a calcium sulfide water soluble kind.. just heat the joint till red hot the coat your rod with the flux and make sure to get it directly in the heat at first to get the “capillary action” going. Youll know when it starts..

    • @jrs4516

      If anyone asks where the leak is coming from it's right under where you burnt a big hole and let it burn. Next shot nice gape. Rain water already pools in that area so thanks for keeping the trades working, by the way you didn't mention what brands you were using like flux,rod,the stuff you piled on, but the important thing was the tag was still there in the end. But it was nice to see you weren't a know it all
