I left Encinitas at 4:30 am to get to Newport Beach before first light to surf the wedge. I surfed my hand shaped 4'10 soft board twin fin.

Back in the day, 50s,60’s we locals who couldn’t afford a board, body surfed the wedge. Only equipment was one “Duck Foot “swim fin strapped to an ankle so as not to lose it. Best E ticket ride ever!
