- The first solid south swell of 2023 and the Wedge is Pumping! This is raw-ish footage from May 16th and 17th! Everyone was ripping and fortunately the only thing broken was boards. Some of the shredders include Tyler Stanaland, Tosh Tudor, Tim Reyes, Kai "Little Dog" Thompson, Bobby Okvist, dolphins, Brad Domke, RC Surfer, Pelicans, dogs on beach, Tim Burnam and more!

From the age of 14 we always picked up trash. It was a tradition. If we saw it....we picked up at least 2 items every day. Thanks for teaching the tradition we did over 40 years ago.

every time i watch one of these i keep imagining how each different kind of wipeout would feel. So many options lol! the talent of these surfers and bodyboarders is mind blowing. Also thank you guys for picking up beach trash. I do it too every time im out there.

Always great videos. Thanks for sharing. I road those waves back in the 1970-80s. The bus dropped us off at The Newport Beach Pier. We would run down the beach, watching for swells and catching every wave all the way to The Wedge. Then make the return before the last bus left Newport Beach. So, carry on the tradition. And clean up other's litter.

I remember lots of blood and broken bones. One kid lost his life there back then Broken neck. That place is no joke.
@@Mikefngarage yes, I remember someone getting paralyzed there. A friend from high school became a quadriplegic trying to shoot the pier at Huntington Beach pier. He passed away quite a few years ago. Rest in peace, Clay. The folks today are way more crazy than I ever was...when I was there....
@@Xplantdad Sounds familiar. I remember hearing about that one too. My buddy was out at HTB 3 weeks ago and I was on the busses on the pier event he shot the pier by accident surfing on the south side and the RIP pulled him right through. He was terrified. lucilly it was between sets. OMG

The break, Northwest of The Wedge, that you know as "Cylinder's", we used to call "Gravles" because, after every wave, your surftrunk pockets would be full of pulverized shells and sand. I prefer that break, more than The Toilet bowl Wedge.
The Wedge is a artificial "A-frame break". Natural reefs are always much cooler.

I bet that lifeguard with the lenze has a side gig as a surf photographer. He just shoots all day and when the guy he's shooting goes down, he's right on the job because he saw it happen. Win win I guess.
Kudos that you're picking up the littering, however, I bettcha at least 80% of the trash on the beach comes from further in-shore. Just blows out on the beach. Sucks.
