They're so cool! I've always been fascinated by Cambodia since my mother and her church group helped out Cambodian refugees during/after the horrible Khmer Rouge massacres. After mentioning my interest with the people, language and country to my grandma, she told me about this group. Couldn't be happier with it.

In Cambodia, there's only so much the band members can do without losing moral respect, making it hard on especially frontmen(girls). She is a singer from Cambodia who was approached by the band to sing for them after they saw her performing in California.
I've heard it in Welcome To Nightvale, only to learn years later the guitarist played Doctor San in On Cinema. Being a nerd is not a very distinguished way to learn new music, but it works pretty well, because that stuff is bee's knees.

Dengue fever found Cham Namal (sp?.) perfect for vocals on resurrecting those lost sounds of decades past. Also one of the members contracted dengue fever while on a trip there. I am going to see the play Cambodian Rock Band at the Arena Stage in DC. So I listened to the cast album and I learned that the use the songs of DF. Going deeper I searched them on RUclips. Very interesting sound especially the lead singer.

Bong is like a title for someone who's older. It can be used for either male or female. "Bong sray" means older sister cuz sray means girl. "Bong praus" means older brother. But it's not used only for brother or sister. You can use it to call literally anyone who is older than you with just "bong". The word "bong" is also used to call a male partner, either a boyfriend or a husband.
