Franz Biebl, during World War II, was a prisoner of war in a prison camp in Battle Creek, Michigan. Before the war, he composed this Ave Maria for his local Fire Department choir because when the fire engines had been polished and there were no alarms, the custom in Bavaria was to sing, and there were even competitions among Fire Department choirs.
What a brilliant arrangement & of course another stunning performance from the United States Marine Band
Beautiful arrangement and beautiful performance! I wish Maj. Nowlin had chosen to leave the 3rd chant and repetition in. With such a gorgeous sound, the piece would not have suffered from being too long.
The euphoniums sound gorgeous and the finale chord was🤌🤌🤌🤌❤❤❤❤
