For grills that do not have it already, the wireless transmission to your phone is good selling point. Using it on other grills with another base unit is a nice feature. I'm not sure if you would want to try it, but can you charge it while it's in use? It looks like the charging port is on the bottom and accessible. And when is Weber going to wake up and add a blower opening (and probe port) on their basic kettle? This would be prefect for that with the blower accessory. They are practically saying, go buy a Slow and Sear Kettle.
Hi, Tom: Could this be used as a controller replacement on a Masterbuilt Gravity? You mentioned at the beginning that it can connect to a blower. I wonder it it could replace the Masterbuilt's when it fails? Also, can't wait to hear about how long the charge lasts as well as if the unit itself is waterproof! Thanks, Tom!

It might work well with a Weber Smokey Mountain or a gravity feed pit.
