this game has actually everything i was looking for. First person, you start with almost nothing, run your own shop, manage stock and serve customers and an interesting story line. I'm definitely buying this game when it comes out.
"have you ever wondered what is like to run your own gas station? Yeah, me neither, but there is a simulation game for everything these days, and that's what we are going to check today" That's what I call "a glowing recommendation" 🤣
Sims sure have changed. I remember playing a lemonade stand sim probably 15 or more years ago and thought it was the greatest thing ever. I played the original demo of this, and i genuinely unironically love it, the act of running a gas station in the middle of nowhere is interesting to me, so theres a sim made just for me, lol
I miss pay phones. When the battery dies in your cell after 11PM in the middle of a city that's completely foreign to you and doesn't have any night-life going on, you're very screwed.
There's also the matter of the little sign on each payphone with the number. It's been years since I've touched a payphone but if memory serves me correctly it's under the receiver above the dial pad.
@@jonbartus It's somewhere on the body of the phone "box", as I recall, but when is the last time you saw a payphone? Last time I used one was 2013 and it was the only working one I could find. I only used it cause my cell had died and I needed to find a house in a subdivision I'd never been to before.
@@jonbartus Correct. Lift the receiver up and the pay phones # was right there. I remember rolling up to a pay phone a couple times and someone would ask how long I would be as they were waiting for a call there.
@@ZedF86 Last time I saw one was about a month ago somewhere in Maine. Rural areas still have a use for them, where cell coverage is scarce they still prosper. Yes, on the "box" or main body as I'd call it between the dial pad and the receiver cradle. You removed the receiver and it was right there. I can remember as a kid in the 90s calling home and getting the answering machine when my dad was late picking us up, leaving the number in case he wanted to call back or anything.

To answer your question Drae, yes you CAN call a payphone. In fact it used to be done quiet regularly by drug dealers because payphones were everywhere and pretty much untraceable and even if it was traced, pretty easy to tell when the police are camping out a payphone. So police began to deactivate the ringer in payphones so it wouldn't ring when called, to attempt to hinder the spread of drugs. But yes, you can call a payphone. if you want to get its number, just call your own phone with it and BAM, you can call that number and call the payphone, assuming you can find one anymore. I dunno if you have to pay to call a payphone though.
If you spend any time watching what the kids are doing these days (tinder, tiktok, etc) then this game makes complete sense and isn't weird at all. You know how you mentioned pay phones early in the game and "I've seen them in movies", those weren't that long ago. I'm 40 and I used them well into my late teens. You need to realize that the world that makes sense to you now, is symbolic of the pay phone. It's fading out.
I love how this little rundown wooden shack of a gas station just has this massive Las Vegas style neon sign Honestly this is almost on par with My Summer Car for weirdness
Technically you could upgrade an arcade system to use the tv as a camera live stream receiver, and the console joystick controls as a remote control for the RC car. That way as long as the toy was within range of your arcade box, you could drive it around. If you wanted to go as far to make a vr interface for the toy car cam to see and drive through rings, you totally could.
yeah, totally... Remember that online game where you could control a model car (in a model town - Chernobyl, was it?)... I wonder if that's still a thing... Isotopium: Chernobyl (had to look it up, but seems it's still going, cool)
