Thanks for watching!
As mentioned in the video, this is a gesture for a quote from Ira Glass. Check out his very inspirational speech: • Ira Glass on Storytell...

I fully approve of this message :)
You brought me here. Thank you! :)
i was about to quit doing something but you brought me here, thank you very much Devin!
Thanks Devin sometimes you just have to be reminded.
You brought me here as well!
Thank you so much for sending me here to this video Devin. I really needed this reminder to keep working for your passion. It's not going to come easy, you gotta work hard for it, you gotta push through it. The rough times and the smooth. You'll get there, it's not going to come easy, but you'll get it. Thanks again.
MKBHD brought me here and I'm inspired.
Me too from his tweet

For those who are wondering about the music - it is a track named "discovery" and it's available on "AudioJungle", though it was slowed down for the video.
Royalty free music confuses me... How many times can you use this one brought track?
Can I use it when ever I want or as many times as I want?
This is one of the things that pushes me back from making things.
FlickTransition the song has a license alongside the purchase that explains all of these things very specifically, you just have to read it.
FlickTransition It all depends on the license, you have to read it. It's different for every company/purchase. Incompetech for example, allows free use of their music as long as you credit them. But some songs are only allowed to be commercialized for one video.
This is.... Simply Amazing. That is totally where I am right now. One thing is, is that I am at the point where people want to pay $10+ for a youtube intro. But even though this is great. Some people, especially people you respect, for instance people at Mt. Mograph, or on Reddit, When you ask them to critique, they critique it HARD. And the don't even congratulate you on trying.
Brick Productions That's because there always needs to be a balance in what you did well and what you didn't.
Additionally, sometimes taking criticism is an art in itself. The best way to do it is take the criticisms that you think are valuable and disregard the parts you think aren't valid.
As somebody who's studying motion graphics designing, this is a very inspirational video to me.
It's been five years, how is it going?
Yeah man! It's been 5 years! How's it going!!!
I started 2 years ago.
I would like to know your journey
@@lwehnihey mate how is it going after 8 months?
still coming back to this a decade later to rewatch and share with people. this will forever be excellent advice.
8 years went by and I rediscovered this video today. I did a lot of work since then. It took a while, but I‘ve been crossing lines ever since. Everyday.
This video was my inspiration to keep going 8 years back - and it is still now. Thank you!
See you in another 8 years.
This is actually a great video and touches on a lot of stuff that I tell people when they ask me how they can improve. I'll be sharing this!

This is very true. Keep working, keep iterating, and one day, without warning, you will suddenly realize how much you like your work. And when that moment comes (for me, it was in mid-2014), the sky is the limit (Since then I've actually worked on Hollywood movies like Fury, and with various TV producers, and I'm 18!)
תודה!
I LOVE YOU MAN. THIS WAS A DEPRESSING DAY BECAUSE ITS ABOUT MY VOLUME OF WORK AND IDEAS. THIS HAS CHANGED MY MIND.
Coming back to this video seven years later… Wow. I did exactly what this video said and achieved my dreams and gone further than I could’ve even imagined. Thank you again for this video, it changed my life.
You've got to do a tutorial on a couple of the effects in this, this was a great video with a killer message. Awesome!
agree.
+1 Please
Yes, is this all "handmade" w/ something like AE or is coding involved?... Very beautiful!
José Roux I believe this is After Effects, not 100% sure though :)
Remahon I guess this is mainly, if not all After Effects, mainly animated by manual pathpainting and expressions.
The basic tools can be tought, but the creativity behind this has to come from yourself.
It is so beautiful, thanks MKBHD
I'm here for Marques Brownlee
I'm not even a motion designer, I'm just a 13 year old kid who wants to make his own comic and become a big voice actor, but this really made me smile and hope for the future and it makes me want to keep getting better and better :D!
13 years myself, I can really see the gap between my own web design and those with many years of experience behind them
I get this, I really do. I am almost past the gap myself as an aspiring 3D artist. The only thing I see wrong with this is that "1 project every week" doesn't apply to most things. I learned that if my work should be as good as ambitions I will need to spend more time on it than a week. You can't do anything in a week.
One project a week doesn't mean one 3d project a week - or one almost any full quality project a week. It means create something every week. Make things, regardless of finish. Iterate. Create / discover your style. Find out what to do and what not to do. Just do.
I think every week is an example... You can do it every month.. if u have a team u can do it faster... If u are good n dedicated... Send me a message...
What they mean is have a deadline...
Deadline is amazingly important to creators. 'Cause with deadline they can finish something ( and everybody knows how easy is to lost in creating ) and then resume, think whether is it good, what is bad and what to do better. Deadline. To finish!
Completely agree. I am a graphite artist, and I believe Ii am firmly past the point of "beginner", but I am still not professional.
To achieve the level that I do, that I and my fans expect, I must have 2-3 weeks for a decent sized drawing.
something about this almost made me cry in a beautiful reassuring kind of way.... i work on ableton for 6ish hours a day and have been super proud of my work before but then 6 months down the line i have written a stack of new songs and realize those old songs were trash... for that reason i have always been scared to share my work until recently i took the plunge and made a sound cloud account and was so happy to hear good things back from people who actually like my music... that feeling knowing people like your work will make you less self conscious as an artist and in tern your work come out better....thanks for the video i really enjoyed it... much love
Glad I could help make a difference! Keep on going and don't give up!
Creavite
hahaha no getting cold feet here iv gotten my toes wet and my foot is still warm.... not trying to be spammy but if you or anyone out there is interested in a new artist soundcloud.com/zodiak_iller ,,, thats me on sound cloud always looking for feed back..... once again thanks for this video
Holy cow, I am a second year graphic design student and am currently working on a kinetic typography video and I just cannot stop watching this. You are incredibly talented, the amount of work that had to have gone into this video blows my mind. You have inspired me beyond words.
Words of wisdom. Enough said.
I've been in a lot of situations where my work cant meet my own expecations. When people call me trash when i just started learning. When i can't do stuff because i dont know how and no one who already knows it will explain to me.
Life is unfair.
I still come back to this video every now and then, since I first found it. It changed the way I saw design and it helped me grow so much as a designer. Thanks so much for this video. More people need to see this! It's probably still the best video I've watched, super helpful for artists and designers.
The truth in this video made me well up from inside. I'm going to take this quote and hang it on my wall just like Saar. This is beautiful.
I remember watching this video few years back. And I have to say, the message in this video is pure gold and so true. Just keep going :)
please do not delete this video !
this is so good !
this is my motivation into my music !
This video actually motivated me to keep going and keep working on my creative skills. That was 6 years ago. I now have a successful design career. Thank you Saar Oz.
To whoever is struggling right now: don’t quit. Put in your hours, keep exploring and the results will come. You are not alone ❤️👊
❤️
There are many people whose taste is behind their capability, and it's a blessing for them as they keep working, loving their results and growing each day
i could not thank you enough for making this video. seriously. thank you so much.
This is some amazing stuff. The message, the presentation of it, the melody...all so well aligned and designed. Thank you, for the inspiration.
All I was looking for was a beginner genetics typography for a school project, then it brought me here. I finished watching and I would say it hit me so hard because I just started out being in design field after being in business for so long. Thank you for sharing this with me. It made me feel a little better.
Yes!!..Love it. Im convinced that genius is mostly your ability to endure pain and keep looking for what works.
This and your previous video is absolutely amazing. I hope you keep making even more of them! Subscribed.
Thanks for Your work. Thanks for putting what we all feel, what most of us understand but can't verbalize. Seeing it in this manner makes it more real for us and inspires us.
This has got me SUPER inspired and motivated to work harder. It's even MORE inspiring than the most inspiring instagram accounts with those little meaningless quotes imposed on ambiguous pictures!
This is outstanding advice.
As an artist just out of college, I have this exact feeling but could never put it into words. While everyone complimented my work I would still be upset and frustrated with it. Honestly, this video has made me feel much better about it:) Thanks
Im glad I tried to find this again, after 9 years. ♥
This is simply one perfect art work.
this is exactly what I needed right now! Thank you so much! truely inspiring, the speech and the animation! Happy new year!
This is truly fabulous. Kudos to you man, Kudos, to, you.
Truly whisked my heart away.
Woah, i'm just... *astonished*. This was wonderful. I believe i'm in this phase you described, and the only thing i can do is improve.
It just resonates with me so much that it literally made me cry.
Bro this came to me exactly at the right moment. The moment when i needed it the most.
Thank you for making this message!
this video, makes me do everything of what i want to do. i had a notepad in my computer of what i want to do. everyday, i copy some link regarding to it and try to understand a part of it. carpentry, metal casting, pc build, prosthetics, overclocking, wood works, etc. now, i have more confidence to do all of it. thanks
this video is soo well produced
major props for the visuals
and massive shoutout for the message
I am actually in a phase where I am not able to bring my creativity out, but this actually gives me some confidence ! Great video, amazing work! =)
Inspirational and true. Thanks for the push!
Wow. That was super cool. The animations were so well done, and the sound design just makes it killer. Simply killer.
Single, most inspiring and reassuring video of all! Thank you!
Great kicker for 2015. Brilliantly presented. Just starting out with Adobe Aftereffects and this is great inspiration.
This is a great message for beginners and seasoned alike. Thanks for sharing.
Holy crap. I'm mind blown from how good this was. You're great.
Very well said! I remember starting out: We made 25 items and thought we were awesome. They all sold immediately, but it still was not enough to make a living. We worked harder and got our 3 children educated and raised. Now the rest is gravy! Living the good life is worth hard work.
Completely wonderful. I'm gonna pass it on! Thanks for sharing!
This ia something that spoke to me, i gave my self 1 year to get my dream rolling, now its close to two years, and at a point you have to be honest and live with the idea that not all dreams come thru, there will be others but this one, to make it here, on this platform, ia not gonna happen.
Applauses for your work. I'm passing this phase but I'm not giving up.
Thank you, I am suffering in this problem a while. You helped me out . Thank you
Thank you so much for doing this and making this. Thank you so much again
oh man, this video makes me smile every time
Thanks for the reminder, Its time to get out there and continue doing what I love. Perfect my art and enjoy every minute that I spending doing it.
Thank you for creating this video, it came to me in the moment I was needing it so bad and really inspired me to keep moving forward ♥
Watching this in 2020. I needed this. Thank you.
I really like your use of sound effects with this video, it really sells the text effects.
You're brilliant, you're videos are truth, you're just such an inspiration!! You need more subscribers honestly *applauds*
2019 and we are still waiting for a new video like this :D
Watching this inspired me so much. I am currently in a phase where almost everything I create seems like crap to me. Like, anything I write or draw or anything I do, it's all just below what I expect it to be. But you are right. Giving up isn't an option, and that I must try hard to push myself to be better. Thank you. :)
You've made an amazing job. keep it up! :)
this is one of the most inspiring videos i have ever watched, thank you
This is one of my favorite videos on youtube.
Ira Glass is so insightful!
Thanks! I think i just entered this phase and this really helps me to keep going!
This is amazing Creavite . Thanks. This is one of my favorite monologues by Ira Glass.
Thank you so much for this...it's just what I needed to see. Your words will sustain me during the moments when my abilities are still catching up with my ambitions.
True, and I would say this goes for most other aspects of life as well.
Beautiful!!
this is amazing, truly.
Simply stupendous. Outstanding. Thank you.
Amazing! Thank you!
This video, is filled with motivation that i needed not only for my creative being, for life also. Was that a music or text that was so well animated, I do not know. Awesome work. Good job!
So crisp! Mesmerising...
just speechless after watching this. Amazing work! props to you man! this has really inspired me to push myself in a new direction. !! once again AMAZING work ! keep it up
This is simply awesome! Thank you very much for making and sharing!
Simply Amazing!! Just too good.
Excellent thoughts. And yes, I wish somebody had told me this when I was young and starting out.
I wish you had more videos ! This is great.
Thank you. This is beautiful.
I agree, Im all the time at this phase, of fighting. And the more work I put, and more time I spend, from time to time I cross another border, that was stopping my creativity. If you ever struggle, never give up, you'll eventually do something, that will satisify you.
You just will.
very inspirational! Thank you.
It is really good! I would love it even more with actual voice of Ira Glass. Thanks! Great work!
This was truly awesome and I have no idea how you did some of those effects! You have definitely followed this advice :D
Best video on the web. This helped me so much :) Thank you dev.
I'm a full 2 years into being a photographer and I'm still closing that gap. This was a great watch and I wish someone had told me this too.
Awesome stuff! Thanks @mkbhd for bringing me here! This deserves to be seen quite a lot!
Just found this! So brilliant!
I can't believe this just made me cry
Fantastic work, very inspiring. Thank you.
It's incredible. Serious.
I remember that I started to do some poetry and stuffs at 15. Since then I been writing too much. But only now I can see real differences on my writing. And with the time it's something that only increases.
amazing message and superb animation!!! well done Ira Glass and Saar Oz :)
I'm glad you said it
Fantastic video on the gap. Great reminder for 2015! Thanks and nice work
