It's extremely useful to see how PS "layering" can be demonstrated 3-dimensionally. We're so accustomed to interacting with a 2-dimensional screen is can be hard to understand that what you see on your screen is actually a bird's eye view in PS World, but represented in a vertical axis (the screen). Whenever you look at the screen, your brain actually has to process three planes at once; the vertical axis on the screen but also as the bird's eye perspective of the layers themselves ( an artificial lateral plane). Yet in the layers panels, the layers and linked masks appear on a horizontal axis. So I think it confuses the brain, and makes the idea hard to comprehend. Conceptually it makes sense, it's just hard to visualize.

Great instruction Dean, well paced for myself and appreciate the time stamps. Just a suggestion, rather than use shortcuts initially try the interface icons/menus for commands and tools. Because this is beginner level and my goal this year is to learn PS in more depth I find learning the interface first then use shortcuts as I get more proficient.

Hi Dean, what is the short cut to change the image become white black color ?

Hi, to turn the image to BW quickly, on a Windows machine it is SHIFT/CONTROL +U on a Mac it is SHIFT/COMMAND +U. This desaturates the image, so it is the same as opening saturation CMD + U and pulling the saturation slider fully to the left. To turn the MASK between black and white it is CMD+I. cheers

Hope you don't mind me saying, but because I really have to concentrate to follow your excellent tutorial I'm finding the background music really distracting. It is just faint enough to sound like clock chiming constantly. But it's probably just me!
