Kathlenn Madigan is the best! I'm a termite and oftentimes I go to sleep listening to her pubcast or listening to her on other podcasts. Her voice makes me feel like everything is going to be okay. She's amazingly comforting.

I'm almost 70 and remember Moms Mabley on tv in the 60s, on Flip Wilson show and the "highly controversial" Smothers Brothers show, back when it was a choice of 3 major tv networks only.
I think I saw Mom's Mabley on the Ed Sullivan show as a kid.
Maybe that’s it, I thought it was The Jack Benny Show.
I'm 60 and I remember those.
Loved the 70s too...Kenny Rodgers...to Rod Stewart...to Donna Summer....to The Carpenters...all the emotions in 15 minutes
This was fabulous and yes I recite certain Katheen jokes to my friends who dont know her. I saw her for the first time this year and I will follow her anywhere. LOVE HER. Such a fantastic student of people and their collective weirdness.
My friends have been forced by me to watch her special , especially my friends that just bought a home in the Villages. I too have both my knees Katheen and I’m 70!

Ed Sullivan was the great non racist. That's where I saw black artists of all kinds.
She was on the Tonight Show in 1972.

Moms Mabley was on the tonight show and she killed it. Probably the only time Johnny Carson fell off his chair laughing. Unfortunately many of Carson's taped shows were accidentally destroyed and that was one of them. I ws lucky to have seen it. She was great.

Kathleen isn't kidding about the 70's, when ppl could smoke anywhere, and riding in the back of the station wagon with the windows up and the car full of smoke! And the music playing on the radio was all types

I sure miss Flip Wilson who was the first comic's LP record I would listen to over and over again. Flip was like a cross between Cosby and Mabley. Very funny in the late 60's and early 70's. People don't remember that on the "Flip" TV show RICHARD PRYOR WAS ONE OF HIS SHOW'S COMEDY WRITERS!!!!

Occasionally Moms Mabley would be in the audience on The Mike Douglas Show! Ii would race home from school hoping I'd see her! Also I've been watching John Pinette for ages! One of the BEST! Miss his humour!

Watching this 17 April 2023 because I love watching and re-watching Kathleen’s videos 😍 Almost 80 years old and when I was young I remember “What it Was was Football” by Andy Griffith 🤩 and “Knockers Up” by Rusty Warren. I think my brother still has the albums.
Lol. My grandfather had a few Rusty Warren albums. I remember playing one and thought it was hilarious. Even though I figured it was risqué. Yes, I played it on the sly. 😅

I love her hilarious Catholic jokes (both of us raised not to "bother Jesus"). Her too buzzed slurring is sad, but fades as interview continues.

I like Kathleen's point on Scott 'Carrot Top'. He still has a show here in Las Vegas so regardless of all the shit he took he came out pretty successful.

For those asking what the Chitlin' Circuit are Black friendly business that were considered "safe places during segregation.
I love the way that Kathleen explains how Black comedians have limited venue's so she wouldn't want to take an up & coming comedy's chance, but at the same time she ask if having separate cultures are for the best. She did all that with total respect for everyone and admitted she didn't have the answers.

Good to hear Kathleen- hilarious. I love good writers. I've loved Willy since Pretty Paper. I loved Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground. It's good to hear others talk about the merchandising of country music. I like Craig Morgan's Almost Home. Brandy Clark's writing- Long Walk and Remember Me Beautiful- she has ripped my heart out a few times.

I think George Carlin's, "Class Clown'" was the first comedy album I heard. There were earlier ones like the Mike Nichols/Elaine May albums, but we didn't have those. I learned about those later. I remember Moms Mabley from some of the variety shows of the day (pretty sure I saw her on Ed Sullivan), also all the Borscht Belt comedians. And of course, even before Carlin, in our house, The Allen Sherman records.

My son born in 1977...and I walked to lobby to have a cig!!!🚬🚬🚬Airplanes, Trains, buses, hospitals, restaurants all allowed smoking...even teacher's smoked on campus till 2017!!!!

I got to spend time alone with Macklemore when they filmed the last video in my houseboat listing in Seattle and were using my boat and my dog for the video... all I said to him was "I'm a gemini and I like to shop at the thrift shop" bc of the album gemini and song thrift shop, you'd think I could have come up with a couple questions or something.

Second: if you want to find a real cowboy, go to southern Arizona, New Mexico or northern Montana, Dakota ect. If you want to find a real cowboy/cowgirl, go to where the cows are.
