Master duel is going to be your best bet for learning modern. i'm not familiar with the past formats. The tutorial is very lacking but will teach you some things about the different archtypes. I had picked up a branded deck off a shelf so i had some direction with a build. Blue eyes is getting support soon in the tcg so ppl are picking that back up. Play the master duel events to farm stupid amounts of in game currency to build with. absolutely no reason to pay $ for the game and it's free anyway. You can craft it all via resources. Be warned you will beat your head against the wall for a few months before settling in. I stopped playing in 04 ish. If i can do it. I got faith in you brotha. Dominus purge isn't bad but it's not great either. The fiendsmith archetype is the new big baddie and that's one of it's pieces. And the guy on the token i'm not sure but maybe from zexal? i'm re watcing a few of them at the moment so i'm not sure.
Yeah I have played Master Duel on & off before... honestly I just get tired of seeing combo after combo after combo after combo & oh look their whole field has cards on em. I have a Gravekeepers deck I use on there (in IRL back in 04-07 range I used to have a Gravekeepers & Blue Eyes Deck before selling all my cards for college money) but idk the more & more I see of newer cards its like reading a book & I just get confused & fed up halfway through. Honestly think YuGiOh is chalked for me, but I still like the design of cards so will probably just randomly do Husky Opens for it. I will say this... on the podcast Thee F'in Title we do, we have a monthly section called "Thee F'in Card Game" where we do play cards... there is a good chance eventually we will buy decks & play on there
