Saw most of the comments here talking about keeping the hope for Malaysia... but the thing is that we can't just sit here and be hopeful, we need to change, start from every small action and change our mindset to be a forward-thinking nation. Working in Singapore for many years, i realised that their success as a nation is not by chance, is about their forward-thinking mindset, their boldness to make things happen and actions on their plans. Not just talk big. It's time for us to reflect over the past 65 years, have we Malaysian been led on the right path to make Malaysia a successful nation. Dont just be hopeful of miracles to land in front of you, but do something to make the miracles that you want to happen. Be more of a thinker, less of a follower. Keep challenging the status quo. Trust me, we Malaysia can be stronger, better and more successful than Singapore, but first and foremost, the things we have to do is CHANGE, change our attitude, change our belief, change our mindset, change the system, mechanism and regime that caused us failed, while being HOPEFUL for Malaysia. IMO the hope for Malaysia is never on the kerajaan (yang gagal), it's always on the PEOPLE.

The people as you call them have refused to change. Yeah! We can see them talking about the kerajaan this, kerajaan that. When it mattered most, all of them start retracting their heads into the shell like a tortoise. 像烏龜.
Come GE, the politicians will give them each a bag of rice and some MYR, all is forgotten. Siapa mudah lupa? The cycle of voting for the same idiots happens again. Even a convicted criminal can be given their passport to travel and still enjoy freedom. Try doing that if you are a common rakyat, you will be in orange garb.

Problem is, we have been reflecting and re-reflecting for the last 64 years to no avail.
The majority have been brainwashed to keep reflecting on a 60 year issue. Singapore and even Indonesia have moved on while Malaysia is still stuck in the 60s mindset. All because, politicians want to hold on to power and drag the country down. So, they keep harping on the 3Rs. Sadly, many still take the line, sinker and hook.

Even as a privileged bumiputra, I'm very nihilistic when it comes to this country..
    Why?
Because it's not all the politicians fault. The rakyat themselves refuses to change.
If we want to preserve ke-agamaan islam, does that mean Melayu have to vote corrupt politicians everytime,
as long as they are ''melayu''?
How in the fuck is Najib free? HOW??!!! How in the fuck is PAS, a party documented to be corrupt and accepts bribes doesn't get any repercussion from the authority or their voters?
Do we all have short term memory? Why are there politicians with communist/socialistic ideology? Because they are ''melayu'', so it's fine?
How in the world does our goverment get so much power, while the rakyat do nothing because they want to be ''safe'' and ''comfortable''?
Did we all forget what happens to Chinese people during The Great Famine in 1959-1961 living under an authoritarian goverment? What about the tragedy of 1989 in Tiananmen Square? Ok, say we all forget what happens a few decades ago. What about SOSMA? What about DOCUMENTED corrupt politicians, (that may be a murderer) still not in JAIL?
Most of my friends that are in the engineering or business field, are looking to go to Singapore and NZ..
Even the facts show that most of our youngin plans to do that. What are we left with then? Si tua dan muda corrupt, yg rasa selesa dan goyang telur with power...
Entahlah.... Saya rasa If Nabi Muhammad (PBUH) sees what is happening to Malaysia, even he will be really dissapointed man...
I wish rakyat will change their mentality and attitude, but most of us think it's not going to happen for a while.
Hope to Allah we're wrong, so rakyat will change their mind for the better.

      May I enlighten you.
Situation was like this. Prior to Mederka, the only Citizens of the land were Malays and native.
      Non Malays were mere immigrants.
Where would the go after British rule end.
India was not keen to a ccept Indians from Malaysia. And CHina closed its ddor to Chinese.
The Malay Rulers agreed to grant citizenships to non Malays. But they insist on certain rights accorded to Mslays on exchange of citizenship to non Malays.
The so called rights are what we call Article 153 of Constitution.
While we gladly accept non Malays as citizens, let us not forget the history of the land.
Bear in mind before Merdeka, the land was exclusively Malays.
So don't be embarrassed just because you have certain rights. In all honesty,I just says Malaya are generous lot.
At times when apartheid was an accepted fact in South Africa and Balcks were legally separated from white in Deep South, a Chinese was appointed as Yg DipErtua of Melaka after independence.
Give some credit to this generosity.
As for corruption, what I notice some people are very selective. Can you imagine this.
Gain Eng is still Setiausaha Agung DAP when he is charged on corruption.
And Kit Siang has been there lording DAP since 1960s.
      Mr Money wants some change?
      Are you for real?
If you are for real, how about you and Chinese Community ( with due respect) too kick GuanEng out.
I am not trying to condone corruption by any govt.
But I find it nauseating when the very people who cry out loud about corruption see nothing wrong in still voting Guan Eng.
Many Chinese don't realise it . They don't realise that vast majority of Malays simply reject DAP.
For a good reason. They view DaP as racist. I agree with that assesment.
I mean no disrespect to Chinese.
But I would like to say that any govt in next election is still will be Malay dominated.
You just have to accept it.
And if you don't like( I mean Chinese) , you will be out of the govt.

Tbh, i really lost my hope for Malaysia because of the people that we got in the government and i couldn't really find a lot of candidates that can govern the country too. Malaysia will definitely doom if our country's 'leaders' continue this way. If it actually doomed, might as well leave the country and find a better place to live.

Thats why I migrated to Australia 2016, as everything was just going downhill that time in every aspect I can think off!. Wages not rising a generation , everything is becoming expensive, endless traffic jam and worsening driving behaviours not to mention the potholes and endless road works (in klang valley), crime and corruption (this always makes me rant), decaying societal values, institutionalised racist system, declining quality and standard of living, hierarchical society, pollution (noise, air, water, you name it!), lack of enforcement in just about everything, flood, tolls, etc and thats just the jizz of it. All adds up, yes malaysia future is bleak.. you can never change that, at least not in your lifetime….
Ever since i moved to perth, all that i have mentioned just above are non-existent . I get to live my life fully and enjoy every second of it. My advice to Malaysians, if you have the chance (find that chance if you don’t have it), get out of malaysia and seek greener pasture elsewhere if you can.
Don’t ask malaysia what it can do for you or what you can do for malaysia, ask what you can do for yourself / family first. Long gone are the days of “berkhidmat untuk negara”, its all rhetoric just to keep you in line when all the underlying problems around you flourish and thrive. You/family future is paramount.

I'm glad our economy still could brace the overall effect of Co-Vid... we're not yet getting at pre pandemic level but I'm sure we still could survive during this very tough time... I do have a hope for Malaysia but I'd never look up to the current political leaders and the whole mess they're making right now.. That’s why it’s important that we move away from low skill work gradually and go into higher value industry. Then the salary and opportunities will follow. Though it may take a while but it will happen

Kleptocrat UMNO (and to some extent the opposition too) favor silly, damaging and outdated policy like Malay Supremacy which doesn’t do anything other than foster far too many 3M (Malas, Manja AND Minder) Malays.
Minder translates to suffering inferiority complex in Indonesian, btw.

To move up into higher economic value chain, we need human capital that can fulfil the requirements of such advanced industries which sadly one of the major problem in Malaysia.
Brain drain needs to be resolved through government and education policies, we can't afford to lose the best talents to our neighbours every year.
Malaysian politicians would not have the courage to tackle the truth as they prefer on populist policies which based race and religion instead to stay in power.
That's why short term solutions such as cash aids is always the preferred way to buy quick votes.

Brain drain? Have you seen the statistics? Please check how many hundred thousand have emigrated, then tell us the % of non-Malays since the last 5 years.

Actually there is a 'royal' house that is logging the forests bare. This increases soil erosion, silting up the rivers with resulting flooding. As seen in Bentong, an unusual sight of timber logs washed all out by the flood waters. Logging on steep hill sides then with the heavy rainstorm causes massive landslides.

The reason why the Malaysian government doesn't want to move up the value chain is simply because of the fiscal constraint. Looking at budget 2022, we can know that the expenditure is way higher than revenue (RM332.1 billion compared to Rm234.001billion). Thus, government doesn't have enough money to invest in R&D unless they cut opex (operating expenses, such as a 20% pay cut for civil servant, review the public service pension scheme(switch to DC scheme and make it same as private sector pension scheme)), which I do not think it is possible as civil servant is a vote bank for government.

My only hope now is for the younger generation to register and vote for the upcoming GE15. Hopefully, they will vote for forward-thinking leaders, leaders who are for the rakyat and not some keluarga Malaysia that is only focusing on one child while neglecting or robbing the rest.
Time has proven that favoring a certain race over the others do not work. The very reason why Singapore left Malaysia is that they wanted a country for all races and not just for a certain race. Look where are they now guys.
Our politicians are stuck in the past. They are still boasting that they brought in foreign investments such as Intel production facility in Penang and XinYi glass in Malacca. While this creates job opportunities, it is not a high-income job.
What happened to the missed opportunity like Grab that got listed as a Unicorn? Or the tech giants like FB, Amazon and Microsoft who chose our neighbouring countries over us? Or the never ending labour issue in our local companies that have led to missed opportunities and even withdrawal on foreign investments? Why is the government not even addressing these issues?
Private equities and venture capitals are hesitant to invest in our country because of this. This is a trust deficit and FDI deficit.
My hope and only hope is for the rakyat to wake up to their senses. Stop hailing thieves and robbers just because they gave you little cash. They may give you RM200 but they have robbed billions of rigggit from you.
Enough of writing. Sakit hati aku. Wishing you guys a happy new year. But is it really gonna be a happy new year? Prices are going to increase next year. Aaaa sakit hati aku. Bye.

Sorry to sound sour but they haven't got a clue on how to run a country . Heck day in day out its all about staying in power. When I left Malaysia to further study in Singapore . I had always dreamt of going back to work and start a business. But as days go on and reading all the current events of our beloved country . It seems less and less likely.
Its a shame to what the country has become. An amazing and beautiful country, ran by people who do not know how to use the country's potential. I'm not focusing on one party or another, heck even the opposition parties are in a mess of their own. The hard truth is that it will take a lot of effort to cleanse the country and rebuild it to what glory it was. And the sad truth is that its not even heading in the right direction

Here are some small practices that we can do to make Malaysia a better place.
Throw rubbish in the bin. Don't leave rubbish on the table when eating out.
Leave the sink /toilet clean for the next person.
    Help open doors for others.
Say hello / assalamulaikum /wave to your neighbours.
Say thank you / please to waiters
See the good in others (a daily reminder. Not easy)
Don't wait to do good. (Bersegera dalam berbuat kebaikan)
Do your best at anything you do. (Buat kerja dengan bersungguh-sungguh)
Pray to God for your inner peace.
    Bersih. Cekap. Amanah

Got. Malaysia still got future. It depends on which side you looking at the future. If you're rich or if you have connections, you still have future. If you work for rm5-8k/month, the future is only having a normal family. Save enough money then go for holiday with family and resume to work. That's it. And those that get paid less than that, basically just work until die or in softer language no future (feels kinda harsh tho).

Malaysia don't need to raise taxes to fund these subsidies. It can be funded from debt (debt to GDP is not bad but I don't understand why over 60% of debt is in foreign currencies - it is risky). Or it can be funded from GDP growth. Important thing in every country is to sustain employment and economic activity. Otherwise, it can cause a spiral of lowering consumption, investment. Eradicate Malay Supremacy, diminish the Royal Institutions further and remove Islam in politics and governance. Apply pure meritocracy. Only then Malaysia will progress. Otherwise, 75% of its population will continue to regress further backwards over time, and the 25% that is moving forward is not enough to bring change and ultimately become the skategoat for the suffering of the majority.
